IGN just keeps adding to the pot of "game journalism" that ignores serious issues (used game market, advertising, how reviews can influence sales) and instead focus on lame things like this, top 10 lists, and "versus" articles.
I don't know how anyone considers these sites "news" any more.
What about the ending was "epic fail?" I'd like to hear out your opinion. I thought, aside from one aspect of it, it was a pretty awesome ending that fit well without being the cliche "everything blows up escape!" angle.
Glad I have the superior PC edition with the best graphics available, as well as DLC AND the game editor to modify the awesomeness as I see fit.
I'd like to see MGS4 get GOTY, Best Graphics and DEFINITELY Best Sound Design/Best Score. Gregson-Williams score was so great, easily the best of the year bar none.
On a separate note, I have to ask my fellow gamers... can ANYONE stomach G4 at all? I watched a show for all of 5 minutes. The bad humor, terrible presentation, shoddy content, and writing disgusted me. The people looked like they had NO clue what they were talking about, and their digs were pure stupid fanboy fodde...

I think you give Xbox fanboys far too much credit. The ones I've met both online and in real life see NOTHING but the 360, so far as to say the DS sucks because the 360 has "more grafix."
ALL fanboys suck. You can support a system, have a preference, without totally shunning the competition and being childish.
Fanboys are inarticulate morons who feel so insecure about their toy purchase that they need to lash out against those with differing opinions in an attempt to justify their choices in a HOBBY. They are so below the status of a real gamer, the bottom of the barrel, and I mock their very existence. They appreciate nothing unless it is on their console of choice and are usually hypocrites.

My intent was neither to label you a PS3 hater (as I don't believe I did) nor did I imply it, but rather to point out the total inconsistency of gaming journalism, regardless of console. Well said Kuest, and in that respect I agree. I should write more clearly next time. I don't think reviews should be done away with, just rather how they are handled, both by reviewers and readers. And consistency, would love some of that.

I'll disagree on that point. I think we should compare reviews to our own opinions, but know that even reviews are nothing more than opinions themselves. The fault comes from people attempting to use these reviews as facts to literally invalidate someone else's opinion in a spiteful way, which is often the case.

It's funny you mention that. If anyone says anything SLIGHTLY constructive or criticizing about Halo or Gears, they have THEIR head bitten off. While not everyone is putting it eloquently, I'm inclined to agree that this "article" shows two things... a lack of consistency in "game journalism" and an obvious attempt at hits, since they have nothing better to write.

Xi is correct. I laugh at ANYONE who stands by Metacritic.
Still, sales data shouldn't matter to a gamer. Selling 2 million copies fast didn't make me like Gears 2 or WoW expansion any more, though I do respect the achievement. Sales shouldn't be used to say X game is better than Y game, we should only care that the games we love are successful enough to warrant a sequel.
