I play the X360 and now the PS3, I'm lucky to have a friend that got one. Well the day before he did we've been tearin' through Gears of War and it's incredible. After we played Resistance on the PS3 I could see the difference. It didn't make the X360 bad but Sony def has an edge on the hardware.

From the beginning Blu-ray has had more of a chance. Apple will be offering it with Dell soon to follow. If it can become a new standard in the PC market (with Apple & Dell that is likely) then it can easily become a consumer favorite.

I think this is being blown out of proportion. Out of the 8000+ titles available ~200 aren't working exactly right. That's pretty good considering the bar set in next-gen already. Next summer this will likely be a non-issue.

I'm not trying to start a war, but the shot marked PS3 in the top right looks a lot better than the other (lighting, draw distance). Some people don't want to say it and others don't want to admit it but it's true.

However, the X360 shot doesn't look like it's in 720 it looks more like 480 making the comparison void anyway.

I'm curious how this power rating will stack up against the 65nm that they're planning for next year.

Yeah over the years I've really come to dislike EA's practices. I hear the employee environment has improved but their games haven't.

I'm sick of seeing rehashes of the same garbage every year. Franchises like Medal of Honor get diluted through constant releases.

Quality over quantity.

We do not live in a cost conscious society. I see $1.29 20 oz. soda routinely outsell the $.99 2 liter version because they're cold. We live in a society that pays a premium for convenience.

Electronics and high-priced toys are in. People pay what I think is too much for iPods and now even more for video iPods. They see movies that cost $8-$12 per person and buy $5 popcorn. Why? All in the name of convenience.

Half a grand is NOT out of reach for most consumers. There is...

Interesting point about the HD DVD add-on. The keyword being add-on. They have all been notoriously bad sellers in the past. Famicon (NES) disk system, 32x, Sega CD, the ill-conceived N64 disk drive.

Your point about HD DVD players getting cheaper... also applies to Blu-ray! With the release of the PS3 the cheapest Blu-ray player becomes $499 with the stand-alones soon following suit and eventually both will come to a point where DVD players are now.

If someone buys a PS...

This article paints the picture of Universal as just making this decision. They haven't supported Blu-ray one bit though. The fact is, Blu-ray is a good product. The article skews early reviews without bringing up the recent ones where companies like Warner have actually opted to use the VC-1 codec. The results are in: HD DVD and Blu-ray are on a level field visually. The extra space in Blu-ray will continue to give them advantage for audio and bonus content.

Sony's market penetrat...

I'm glad someone has finally said it. Nintendo's past two consoles: not so great. I'm not sure how I feel about playing games by waiving my arm around. If Nintendo uses virtual console to develop some new "classic" titles then I'd probably be in. Super Mario Bros. 4 anyone?

This is definitely a step up. Hopefully it plays well. I'd much rather play a racing game like this than another Need for Speed title.

They quote upgrading to 64-bit as costly but for the user AMD's cheapest (on newegg) Athlon 64 is only $64.00, throw in an average motherboard and that DDR RAM you already have and that's far from costly.

That's an impressive difference. Probably the best in-game water yet. I bet the hardware requirements are steep.

Using high resolution textures takes up a lot of space too. Because companies have been bound by space constraints of DVD (most recently) developers have become used to reusing a lot of textures in different levels.

More space can mean nothing bad. Have some vision for advancing technology. This isn't lame programming; it's taking advantage of something previously unavailable.

How many times does this rumor have to be debunked before it will die? Think of the implications for companies that rent games. I can't see this happening.

Nintendo had said in the past that games on virtual console will be available for a small fee. However, I would be surprised if they didn't offer a free game to everyone that bought the Wii.

I'm much more excited about the possibilites that new games will be developed for old consoles. I've been talking about a way to do that for a long time. Nintendo has finally provided one.

I'm a PS2 owner, didn't like the XBox but with the next-gen options both MS and Sony have good options. I'm surprised the X360 hasn't made more of a dent in Japan. Guess there really are a lot of MGS4 fans there.

I think you/they mean Wild Arms: Vth Vanguard. Wild Arms 4 was released in January of this year.

I know a bunch of people that shut it off with wireless controllers because it uses the battery that much quicker. There are bound to be a lot of people that are willing to go without.
