I'm still playing games on the PS2 and I have many more to go. I'll upgrade to next-gen but I have plenty of time.
anytime.
I actually blame GTA for cars.
You're on the right track. Sony can easily exceed this mark but to claim that they did they have to undershoot. For example during Q4 2006 Microsoft shipped out 4.4 million units. Your 5.5 mil is based on their end of April shipments too. I would say this Christmas for both Sony and MS will be huge sales due to some monster titles.
Things don't look so bleak for Sony anymore. I'm curious to see sales estimates at the end of July.
Very impressive, I really didn't think it would look this good.
@ TheExodus... I'm going to go ahead and call BS here. So you're arguing that consumers are buying the old hardware based on a backward compatibility standard. I don't buy it for a second.
This is a direct result of the price reduction and nothing more. There are not huge issues with the emulated software and in fact reports say that 80%+ titles are working and some have been fixed with firmware updates.
Also, anyone who is buying the PS3 now could probably easil...
I'm seeing lots of arguments and numbers thrown around here. The way I look at it the PS3 is now on a much more even playing field assuming Microsoft maintains their current price point. While I would like both systems the reality is I'm going to have to choose one for the time being.
If you're strictly talking value the PS3 @ $499 takes down the Xbox 360 Elite. For one, Wifi is included, a $100 value in the Xbox 360 world. Another is high-definition disc player. Xbox owners wh...
A 60GB DVR will only store ~7.5 hrs of HD content while an 80GB still only stores ~10 hrs. If this move was all about DVR they would do better to jump to an even larger HDD.
I don't necessarily think a $599 SKU is bad, however another 20GB and Motorstorm isn't worth it for me. They would do better if the new SKU was 120GB with Resistance: Fall of Man.
This will give the PS3 a much needed bump.
Why is this getting approved...
The system seems overly sensitive to voltage variation or something of the sort. The same people have systems that die more than one time while others have no trouble.
Glad you caught it :)
I'm just not seeing much of a difference between either version. I'm not going to look for something that isn't there to nitpick. The game looks cool either way.
I can't believe you would approve this.
I baked a cake once. Where is my story?
Great news guys. Oh wait...
Take Two and Rockstar would do well to release two versions of the game. One for retail, a bit edited so that it receives a Mature rating. The other they could sell online and with retailers as an Adults Only game. For them it would be the best of both worlds.
With Apple and Dell behind Blu-ray is Toshiba's control over their laptops really a "secret weapon?" Somehow... I think not.
I still need to play this, maybe I'll borrow my brother's system to give it a shot.
I'm pretty sure after seeing the sales surge Sony will rethink their price strategy. Don't be surprised if they decide to extend the life of the 60GB model through (at a minimum) the end of the year.
