There are flight simulators that are still being updated by fans over a decade after the development stopped. Ps5 didn't even have backwards compatibility because people aren't replaying last of us again and again. Flying is something you can get better and better at so the challenge is new with every plane. You can't say that with single player games.

Sooo...playstation fans don't mind speaking to their consoles. I could have sworn having a mic on your console was considered bad when Microsoft was doing it. But I guess you can't trust Microsoft but you can trust Sony. Even the people who hack into their network. Cause it's Sony and that makes it ok.

Humans have devolved to the extent that facts don't even matter anymore. Playstation fanboys are so insecure that they have to downplay everything Microsoft even when Sony looks at that same thing and says it's so good that I will pay my competition to use it.

So is Microsoft holding gaming back in the same way high end PCs are held back by integrated graphics. Or is this whining about nothing because it's Microsoft. Everyone seems to love scaling games on PC. And no one complained Bethesda's games were held back because it they could do this on the older consoles.
You haven't been watching the hardware side of gaming. AMD is releasing some really good apps this year and next year with the move to 7nm+ Zen 3 core and navi on their apps we'll probably see gaming laptops that easily compete with Switch HD for $400-600. And it will still be useful for plenty of non gaming needs.
@Waverider That depends on the original cost of the chips. The xbox chip is obviously going to be expensive. Another factor is the rumor that Microsoft is going to be using the Series X chip in their data centers. That has huge implications. Microsoft has shown the ability to make any software or systems work on their Xbox platform. I've said for years that there are Xbox Ones running Playstation software for years. And now Playstation and Nintendo will probably be running their software...

You sound like you've seen the business model for GamePass. If not you're assuming a lot about losses. Plus if you know business you know that since windows is highly successful they could use GP losses to offset tax on profits in other areas. In Microsoft's case, they could do that for the foreseeable future.

Some people are so full of it. They couldn't stop going on about 1080p when most didn't have a TV for it. Now they want to put down 8k because most don't have it. You know who might have it though? The PC gamer who spends on tech but has limits. They have a good gaming PC but wish they had steady 4k or even 8k. This offers them a chance to get the machine cheap and start working on the TV as the generation moves forward and 8k prices drop.
I'm going to trust Microsoft engineers over some idiots on the internet. If they say the specs came first and the design is what they had to do to accommodate them I'm ok with that. Given the excellent design of the One X I know they know what they're doing.

We've got to stop criticizing attempts at innovation. Just because something didn't work for that time doesn't mean it's a faulty concept. Microsoft was moving in the right direction. Their real problem is they come up with great concepts but lack the imagination to utilize them. But that still puts them far ahead of the majority of companies incapable of coming up with the concept to begin with.
