Minecraft is a Xbox first party game.
Wasn't it Sony that approached Microsoft about ysing Azure?
@Elwinil
When you're a company that just had a record year you can be fine with it. When you're a company that measures profits in the 10s of billions you can be fine with losing something that amounted to less than 1% of your revenue. Xbox makes its money on things other than the sale of consoles, so it is fine to lose most of the revenue of a dead generation. Microsoft would probably be hard pressed to show 100 million in profits from selling Xboxes. Live, royalt...
@Indysurn
Let's not just say I'm correct. Because I am correct and there were links to articles where Sony brass stated the fact that 7 of 10 Sony exclusives lose money. And you've been on this sight for some time and probably read the same articles. The problem is some people have an agenda and want to keep the sheep in line so they pretend it didn't happen. Not saying you're one of those people but the articles are on the net. I had always speculated t...
@Livingthedream
It's really common sense for the most part. Digital is cheaper than physical. You can't resell digital. Smaller developers have a cheaper option to go to with streaming and digital. It's Xbox Arcade for small, midsize and independent larger studios. But a handful of people who refuse to pay more or even pay for additional content feel entitled to the same business model that saw dozens of developers go out of business last generation. They don...
True enough. But sheeple are sheeple. These are mostly the same people that would never pay for online. That can't acknowledge most Sony exclusives lose mobey despite Sony's CEO saying it. That don't buy most of the exclusives they claim to love. That were alright with Sony not bringing EA Access to playstation. That said they'd never go digital.
These really vocal people are the ones Steve Jobs was talking about. They know what they want when we tell them....
This is the direction everyone is going. Just because Sony hasn't told yet doesn't mean it isn't happening. They like to let the sheep seemingly graze naturally on their own.
Nope, they can not.
Most Americans believe one aspect of the great lie. That's all it takes. Once they believe in that one part they'll lock on it like a pit bull. Whether it's patriotism, religion, race or region. Once they bite you can swing them around on that rope just like a dog. And Rainslacker is obviously a smart guy. But in general, like a thug on the block, once you have them they will do the most vile and self destructive things for their cause. They'll willingly support the murder of...
It hasn't been ten years yet.
Is the Russian government crazy though? More so than the American government? There are so many things we know for a fact about the American government that are far worse than anything Putin has done.
We used nazi snipers to murder people in Ukraine as we overthrew their government and put th ouse nazis in charge. Our assistant secretary of state is recorded in a telephone conversation setting up who would be their president. We invaded Iraq for oil but claimed it was wea...
PCs advantage had been the ability to upgrade at a steady clip. But let's be realistic, 4k is about where the road ends. Most content hast hit 4k yet. Even major events like the Super Bowl aren't broadcast in 4k. The graphics hungry gamer is a very different beast from the average consumer. And the average consumer are the ones that keep prices low. 4k/120 is as far as gaming is really going to go. It's time to focus on other things. Like game play mechanics and AI. We'll soon...
Uh, yeah. That's called evolution. As architecture changes the characteristics that matter the most change. Like tuning a car for an oval or a road course. Different things matter.
I believe given Microsoft's reputation and their seeming need to appease ponies they will actually sit back and, outside of taste, they will be a silent partner. They know they will be criticized no matter what so they will want to be able to claim things weren't their fault.
But more than anything I believe someone at Microsoft developed a clue. What I mean is someone finally said Xbox Live is a huge opportunity to develop machine learning through millions of hour...
@Chris_Wray
I'd love to see some independent thoughts in comment sections. When you hear a well known developer telling you he won't be accepting interference at the companies conference it's a signal they know reputation and they're putting it behind them. Microsoft understands the future is in a streaming service and that requires exclusives. When you're releasing games on your services at launch you need happy developers. Plus there are other benefits...
@Euphemism It's your comments that seem desperate. Microsoft is showing that the service works well even when the servers are a good distance away. If that's the case, they will work even better when the servers are 30 miles away. Living in the DMV we have servers 20 or less in our area, not everybody is that lucky. But Microsoft does have a ton of farms and everyone in the US should have one within 400 miles of them. That means anyone getting xCloud should get good service.
Ryzen 1 & 3 are the same architectures but very different chips. People are acting as if only Qualcomm or AMD or Intel can improve a design. If that were the case Apple wouldn't have the best phone chip. Scorpio is an improvement ok n Jaguar.
Rrod was caused when Microsoft engineers made changes to the architecture that AMD warned them would be an issue. AMD engineers turned out to be right.
And Microsoft learned a lesson most console makers lea...
Releasing on next generation consoles too that are more than capable of handling it.
@Rainslacker
I'm not sure the idea of the exact same parts is true. Like Apple, both Sony and Microsoft have extensive experience designing parts themselves. Remember it was Microsoft engineers that caused rrod back when they were first learning. Also remember AMD released an APU similar to the PS4 after its launch. There will be differences. The thing I believe will be the key difference is pure power and strategy. Microsoft is clearly looking at gaas with xCloud. So...
Gamers have a rare but vocal group of morons within them that is so self destructive they actively lobby against themselves. Car people have their favorite cars but they don't hope everyone driving the competition crashes or gets their vehicles recalled. Some gamers are that special brand of stupid that can only end up with them old and angry at the world for how bad their life sucked.
