This could turn out great for gamers. Streaming might be the beginning of the end for the need for publishers. That means mass distribution without disc, pressing, format royalties, so many of the expenses that can be prohibitive to small developers or that makes it hard to recover from a bad release. This should also allow games to move forward other things that will make the games themselves better
Naruga are you serious? This is just business. Microsoft Azure is already the second largest datacenter company available. It already has its own undersea cables, even in places Amazon doesn't. It is constantly rated the fastest and the cheapest. For low latency gaming Sony and Nintendo have to use Azure. It's no different than Apple's need to pay Samsung billions for parts for their phones. Business doesn't have time for childish console wars.
There's a chance we could see a hybrid with a ultra fast 20gb portion to load the main area the player is in and have it petitioned to load partial section of the adjacent areas a player can reach most quickly.
It cost next to nothing to port the games to Xbox. This is definitely how a company goes out of business. Either you're in the business of selling games or not.
This is actually a good move for Nintendo and Microsoft. It opens the door to each to provide for it's respective audience what it lacks. Live brings Nintendo hardcore games and let's Nintendo focus on its IP. Nintendo brings Microsoft games that focus on a younger audience. As we transition to streaming services these two are set.
This may be small improvements now but it could be huge for gaming's future. AI with a ryzen based chip programmed to use the neural network to determine to the metal coding might allow programmers to focus on high level coding. That means games get done really fast and the budget goes into things like story and production. Once you have an ai that understands its given hardware it can decide how to run the code to maximize frames and resolution. AI will revolutionize gaming.
Calling off sick means you're informing your company. More than likely, your immediate coworkers know you're not coming long before the boss.
Retroman stop living in the past. See...anyway why would that be the case. Does the X have issues that are being kept super secret? Chips are designed in software and run virtual code. It prevents issues like rrod and bottlenecks. Go with Elsa, my child. Let it go.
There might actually be some truth to this. If you consider no one is going to go for a 8k machine. The target will be 4k/60. There isn't that much needed as far as more power than we will get from GPUs next year. We will also see those GPUs hit 7nm and we will get Ryzen most likely on both consoles. With a few proprietary tweaks we'll see the real effort placed on design. These will be exotic designs on the APUs, but power will be very much in line with what will already be out there...
So many of you provide hope for the few. It's amazing that no matter how many times you see things work you still don't get it. Most people said Xbox live wouldn't work because most people didn't have reliable internet. And even as we're a year, maybe a year and a half, away from gigabit service on phones people still think the internet will always be an issue. Enjoy your caves caveman. Technology will evolve anyway.
My numbers are based on both companies as a whole. And while Microsoft has many profitable divisions, Sony doesn't. Gaming is a big part of this keeping Sony going, not at all the case with Microsoft. Gaming is maybe number four within Microsoft with cloud or office easily beating Sony corporation in profitability. Gaming wouldn't be the ones making a decision to buy sony, it would be Microsoft as a company. And it would be the board approving it. They could sell off parts they don...
Actually, Sony and Microsoft are publicly traded companies. Any serious offer would have to be considered. Sony may not be able to buy Microsoft. They just don't have the money and I doubt any bank or investor would give it to them. It would cost several hundred billion. Microsoft, on the other hand, has more than enough cash on hand to make an offer Sony couldn't refuse. Remember we saw this a few years ago with Yahoo. Microsoft offered more than the company was worth, the CEO resist...
I'm just glad to see Microsoft move back into the tv/movie arena. I always thought dropping the studio was a huge mistake. Exclusives in video content are actually proven to sell a platform.
Dirk you're making assumptions about when games will be released to be critical of Microsoft by using the assumption that it is for next generation. But what makes your failure complete is your need to bash Microsoft made you forget a few things. One is that Microsoft stated years ago that all Xboxes would be compatible going forward from Xbox One. Any new Xbox will still run Windows and we've known since the 360 they can update the kernel to fit future os changes. You also apparently...
If only it were do or die for people who write such stupid articles.
Flawless victory? In which year? Nothing new here.
People have this misconception that Microsoft doesn't make money from gaming. This is based on ignorance of how the gaming industry works. Microsoft has even stated they had over 9 billion in gaming revenue last year in their financial report. Which, by law, have to be accurate. Just because people don't think you have as many exclusives it doesn't mean you're losing money. The majority of revenue comes from subscriptions, online additional purchases and royalties from the mil...
PlayStation gamers can be such douches. Or is it just the kids here?
Shadow Wolf movies are a very different thing from gaming. For instance what did you pay for a movie in 2005? 9.75, 10.75? It's 12.75 now. And then there are the "micro transactions" in the theater. popcorn, soda, pizza. All drastically overpriced. But no one begrudges the theater or studios a ticket hike. The studio bought a better camera, HD now. But it gets used over and over. It'll sell the rights overseas, on cable, release a dvd and have VOD. And all movies don't c...
What's really funny is that many will cheer on the idea of Sony starting a project like this. Those same cheerleaders criticized Microsoft for doing it a few years ago. I have always said Microsoft is stupid for allowing children and morons to dictate their movements. Here's another clear indication of why you ignore sheep no matter how vocal they are. People like that lack any ability especially vision and imagination. Many of the ideas Microsoft pushed years ago would be bearing fr...
