Talking to a brick wall Sagapo. Sony is currently selling off parts of the company to avoid going out of business and some still think sales don't matter.

I imagine 30 years from now, some of those same people will be older and wondering what ever happened to Sony. I never understood that.

I think this is a little different than the situation with Glass-Stegall. We're in another depression because the American people don't get that markets, banks and government are all corrupt. They are out for themselves and look for every exploitation they can find to screw people over.

Streaming games will become cheaper. In many major cities it is already pretty cheap. In DC you can get 30/5 for less than $30 a month in a bundle. And that is without a major competit...

Good points Darth. Another problem is that unless you helped build those chips, have spent time on them or was taught how to understand them, you can only be so sure what things do. Sony themselves speculated a lot about what the Cell could do. Once they made it, they found out it couldn't do what they thought it would. AMD has gone through the same problem with it's Fusion line of APU.

But the fact that Sony and Microsoft have decided to go with AMD this generation ...

Isn't the chip in the Wii U a modified version of the one in the Wii which was a modified version of the one in the Gamecube?

Sony's mistake was listening to fanboy hype. Every time a leak hits about a release the fanboys go crazy. Sony needs to realize that people that irrational couldn't possibly have any money. They go on an on about every coming exclusive and then they don't buy them. Oh, because sales don't matter. Bet Sony thinks they do.

You missed the point. Most of the people here are arguing that it is. So Sony fanboys don't even agree with Sony sometimes. Sony themselves can make a true statement about the PS3 but if the statement means the 360 is better at something or MS does something better, fanboys will disagree.

Truth, non of them really sold many copies. Silent trees buddy.

And poor Hicken. Nice to see you haven't given up the fight to determine how other people spend their money.

DiRtY is right. Fanboys complain when MS does something and applaud when Sony does the same. It goes both ways. But Sony fanboys are worse than Xbox fanboys. Or maybe it just seems that way because there are so many Sony fanboys on N4G.

Let the disagreeing begin.

Miyamoto,

You can't just sit around and react to everything the other companies do. You have to be aggressive and make your own choices. The Wii U is geared to a whole other group of people. Even if it has a little more power. I also don't see the PS3 selling in 2016 if there is BC in the PS4. Because there will be a full blown battle this time between Sony and Microsoft, prices will drop quickly.

This will be a good time to be a gamer.

IBM was rumored to still be working on die shrinks for the Cell. I believe they have a 32nm Cell. If AMD can get that to work with it's GPU they still might have BC. That would allow them to drop the price of the PS3 also. And Sony owns the RSX, there is no reason they couldn't have had AMD splice the CPU and GPU to allow an even further price drop like Microsoft did on their Slim. So 64% might be possible if the PS4 will launch this Summer.

I don't think the 360 ...

Do you hat it when everyone else does it too. It's business. Or would you have preferred that Microsoft never let Bungie go and kept it to themselves.

To me this is an example of why you don't judge a machine based on the parts and what they are believed to be capable of. Consoles don't have off the shelf parts anymore. They are heavily modified. So while I still say the Wii U will be greatly outpaced by the PS4 and 720, no one knows which of the other two will be the most powerful. On paper, the rumors say the PS4. But the 720 will most likely be the most heavily modified of the two. When it's all said and done, I believe the 7...

BattleAxe no one knows what Destiny is, but that means we don't know how big it will be. If it turns out to be a great game, that year will help the next Xbox. It may be the 720s Halo. And the reason MS has timed exclusivity is because when they let Bungie go, MS got the right of first refusal on their new games.

And since MS has used that option, Destiny might be something special. It's similar to what they did with Epic for Gears. They saw it, liked it and paid for...

Dragon, this is typical of how company work. You can never let your competition have the limelight alone. You have to do something to make sure people watch you too. Sony fanboys won't pay attention to MS anyway. But hardcore gamers and Xbox fanboys will pay attention if MS does something. And so will the press. Like, as someone mentioned, Bungie were to release 720 footage on Sunday. That would put pressure on Sony to have a really good showing. If the 20th was to fall short of footage f...

If they are both releasing consoles this year why would either be scared. The one that announces first doesn't win a prize or the generation.

Playstation fans are confusing. I thought one of the reasons the PS3 was supposed to be better because the 360 was too focused on multimedia. But now most of you are saying the PS3 is actually better for multimedia? I thought you guys hated a console being used as a entertainment hub.

Sony should buy Valve? Yeah, a company currently selling assets to stay afloat should buy a company with some kind of major problem or at least a major talent drain.

Jimbo, I think you hit the mark. I think they are Steam and hardware too. Developing is hit and miss. But if you are getting a royalty, you'll always make money with less risk. The problem might be are developers willing to pay a royalty on PC games. Especially if the platform uses open source Linux.

I do think we will continue to see Half Life and Valve's other hit games. But it might be as episodic content and big DLC content. So there might be less of a need for l...

Walker announcing the PS4 will most likely hurt PS3 sales. So what. This generation is over. But it will do nothing to hurt sales of games. There are 75 million PS3s out there. Several million of those owners will still buy a good game.

Snookies,

The slip ups Sony and Nintendo made can't be fixed this generation. The mistakes they made Sony made were the Cell and Blu-ray. The only change there has been that it is cheaper to produce those parts so the cost have fallen in line with the price of the console. But that damage is done.

For Nintendo, they went out and pulled a PS3 in reverse. A under powered system that will be obsolete by the end of the year. The only cure for that will be the...
