HSA is the future of computing? It is better than the hardware available now. APUs work better for HSA. You keep comparing Jaguar to current APU cores. Trinity cores(Piledriver) aren't as good as the Jaguar cores. With each new core AMD adds more of the features that will make HSA work. Jaguar cores haven't been released yet so you and me don't know what they are capable of. But you assume that they will be as weak as Piledriver because Piledriver wasn't that good. That terrib...
Sony has to spread the in-house releases out. If inFamous and Killzone are launch titles, they need to hold out something for the tax season. That is another huge selling period. I wouldn't release three of my titles at the same time for them to cannibalize each other. I'd do maybe inFamous and GT6 at launch and Killzone in February. Also there might be a next gen CoD and Battlefield Holiday '13. I would rather move my shooter away from that.
You're missing my point. Look up the design of the Jaguar cores. Look at what AMD is doing with them and the GCN architecture. The point is the Jaguar cores and GCN are what will appear on computers later this year or sometime next year. The PS4 and Xbox are getting the technology first. Just like Unified Shader architecture. Consoles will set the standard that PC parts will follow.
These consoles will be or will be the closest thing to full HSA available in the home mark...
@TheBrownBandito
I understand what you're say. Let me explain why I said that. It's because I've read so many articles about what Microsoft is doing from non-gaming sources. They have built a huge CPU/GPU design section of their own. They have modified chips on their own in the past. The APU in the Xbox Slim was their take on IBM and AMD parts. It was better and they had to slow it down to keep parody with older consoles.
They are making their ch...
It's not that you hit a nerve. Doing this system-wide is a great idea. It's just that it isn't a Sony innovation. If you search the Internet and find a copy of the Microsoft leak that MS lawyers have tried to remove, it list this very thing as a part of the next Xbox. Along with an Apps CPU(MS plans a APU for Apps) and several other features the PS4 will have.
You just have to understand that you're on a site where there are two camps of morons that spend the...
GPUs and CPUs are not used the way they will be used in the future. APUs are designed the way they are because they are moving toward HSA. Most programs don't take advantage of a HSA architecture because no one has a true HSA system. But APUs are moving toward that. Jaguar is another step toward that. GCN next is another step toward that.
PC gamers are looking at things from the standpoint that the way the parts will be used and the way software will be made are going to ...
PC fans are missing the point of APUs. They put way to much stock in the ability of the current APUs like Trinity. If that was the final design for APUs they would have a point. But it isn't even close. Jaguar cores and GCN are very different from anything on the market right now. So there are no equivalents to compare. Add that consoles are closed and the OSs will actually be designed to take advantage of the architecture and it adds up to a huge difference.
PC gamers a...
Developers could make the digital copies more enticing to the buyer. They could discount digital $5-10 below the disc. Ten dollars is workable because a lot of the expense of disc would be gone with digital. Even discount DLC for digital owners. It would be in their best interest to cut out Gamestop. They would sell more copies. Even if it was only 10-20% of sales Gamestop was getting it would be worth it.
Bill Gates retired from full-time work, not retired completely. He still works for Microsoft.
Parents play a huge role a lot of the time. Whether not acknowledging a problem. Or irritating the hell out of a kid and driving them crazy. There is a reason such a large number of porn stars come from strict religious households.
I normally say the cops and politicians are reaching or dodging blame on things like this. But when I read this story GTA was the first thing I thought of. There is no doubt crazy is the main cause. But GTA may have been on his mind after he finally lost it.
This might be what they plan to use.

Halo 3.... Uploading and sharing video since 2007.
The person that wrote this seems to be incapable of learning from the past. Design means a lot, not just the parts. The writer, and may others, doesn't understand that we are moving into a new kind of computers. And software. And people are underestimating the software.
And neither consoles specs are final. Sony has said so, so apparently they believe they might have to upgrade theirs. And Microsoft's is a modular system. So parts can be added. Their own documents fro...
Chaos the purpose of the comment section is for people to give their opinion. Your comment was about your opinion that people shouldn't be giving their opinions? Huh...WHAT?
@Hammad
The only dev kits we have seen(?) have been PC cases. We don't know what the motherboard or case looks like on the final product. So we don't know if their is room for changes. We know from leaks that the 720 architecture might be modular. Most thought for upgrades. I believe it is for two reasons. First, the final specs of the console will be secret until the last moment. HSA sees all resources as one part. Adding more parts just adds more resources. It doesn...
I also believe Microsoft has been so quiet because they know they have a better machine. I believe Sony knows too. That's why they have tried to bait Microsoft into talking. Whether it was the press conference or saying the specs are final. They know the 720 is more than the specs would have you believe.
Both work with AMD. But Microsoft does a ton of their own work. I bet some of those AMD guys talk a little and kinda hint that there are things that we know but can'...
The Wii U is not sold at a loss.
http://gonintendo.com/?mode...
Nintendo doesn't do that. Plus the parts are all really old parts with modifications. That is never expensive. Anyone can go out and buy separate parts that would kill the Wii U. It's not like they have tried to push the envelope on technology for CPUs and GPUs.
I think you're right. It's all about coming additions to Gold accounts. TV Apps and exclusive content. IPTV or streaming of original content. This has nothing to do with the naming rights. And having others own naming rights to websites doesn't mean anything. Microsoft could buy or sue for them. Their is no doubt the name Xbox belongs to Microsoft.
If Microsoft was going to concentrate on casual games they wouldn't have wasted money trying to improve Kinect. They improved it to make it more of a part of hardcore games.
