The idea of one console generation holding back another is one of the silliest arguments in gaming. When architectures were more complicated and tools not as useful resources were strained if you had to make several different copies. The problem is optimization. Now you have systems based on the same APIs and we've been x86 a while. Holding back because of previous generations is now just something fanboys that don't understand anything say. Besides PC has always had the best version ...

@Profchaos

I guess that's like we've never seen the full power of a PC GPU. You playstation people are amazing in your rationalizations.

@Captain Henry

Sony knows it needs to make money to push out exclusives and buy studios despite the coming economic challenges. They have no choice on last gen or PC. And eventually the Game Pass model.

@Red
You sound like you won't be playing anymore Zenimax games 😂

The magicians at Microsoft did it with Fallout. Maybe Sony is growing up and learning something.

And yet Doom Eternal is on Game Pass along with several other Zenimax games.

What's bitter about it. You clowns that like to claim everything is bitter or angry need a new angle. I'm simply pointing out reality. Microsoft doesn't need Sony fanboys to support their games. Halo is one of the most successful franchises in the history of gaming and it was never on playstation. Gears has been extremely successful and has never been on playstation. You guys have an over inflated opinion of your importance to gaming. There are estimated to be over 2.5 billion ga...

Both consoles will sell every unit produced this quarter. I'm not sure how selling out everything you have is proof the other was more popular. It's only proof they had more consoles available.

It supposedly matters a lot to Japanese gamers. I remember a lot of complaints about their small apartments being an excuse not to buy an Xbox. I'm sure that excuse will suddenly disappear now that Sony has the biggest console ever.

Nonsense. A service like Game Pass means you have a guaranteed budget and you have time. You don't have to rush a AAA title because there are 23 studios looking to be the main game that month. Eventually there will be 30 studios looking to be the featured game in a given month. Which means you can take your time and get things right. You know Zenimax has 5 AAA titles to release, There's a Halo game coming and a Forza game and a Gears game and a Ori and State of Decay. There's no ...

Microsoft doesn't need Sony to reach most gamers. Most gamers have a PC. And I'm sure a lot of people saw the AMD presentation yesterday about their GPUs. People are forgetting these consoles have GPUs that will also be in laptops along with up sampling solutions. By 2022, just over a year away we'll have Ryzen 6000 CPUs and RDNA 3 GPUs in laptop APUs. Most people will have a netbook or laptop that can play these games at 1440p. Microsoft will have access to 70-80% of consumers wi...

Way too expensive.

This comes off as a movie push. Leave the games alone. Do a movie separate if you want.

@Dark the problem with your Japanese theory is you're forgetting about xCloud and phones. Japanese people have better phones than we do.

The CEO of the company has stated in interviews that they are still looking. Their business model is Game Pass. Like Netflix showed you need content for that type of service and it's best to own the content or people will try to exploit you to use it or pull it when you need it most.

Japanese developers have been talking about gaming moving towards western style themes. There is no reason Japanese companies won't work with Microsoft because having guaranteed resources is huge for a developer.

@ZeroBlue

If sony fanboys could have overcome their blind hatred this probably wouldn't be the situation. Sony fanboys caused Microsoft to pivot to games as a service. And now Sony has to play catch up.

Except that the CEO of Microsoft said in an interview a week or two ago that they are definitely looking to make more purchases. Microsoft has around 20 billion a year they need to get rid of. They don't want more than the 140 billion cash on hand they keep in reserve.

Used to. Everything they and the developers have said over the last year is that Microsoft has only provided resources. They've stayed out of other decisions including release schedules.
