Japan doesn't love Zelda. Zelda is not a big franchise in Japan.
Zelda not really big in Japan. It's mostly a western selling title.
Two platforms that combined are still smaller than the Ps4 install base. Botw for the switch is the one that's selling. The wiiu version seems to have a limited supply everywhere.
So far atlus and square enix are bringing the 3ds franchises to the switch. I have a feeling that the next iteration of Monster Hunter will also be announced for the switch. If nintendo could get all the popular titles from the 3ds to be on the switch then the switch will have a great library and it will sell well.
Hopefully Nintendo goes through with that dock with the graphics card in it. They could call it a pro dock and just charge like $150 for it, instead of having to buy a new console. The potential for this console is great. With nvidia constantly improving their mobile chips the future for this type of console for Nintendo is very promising.
fucking gamestop....
Optical media is slow and obsolete. Also you have to be a complete moron to put a bluray player in a mobile console. The party chat, save data transfers/cloud saves are coming in later updates as are the NNID, online network features.
Zelda is not lighthearted at all. It might be colorful but it sure as hell isn't lighthearted.
And they're basing it off of two days of uk sales for Zelda.
I think they got Disgea 5 too.
With the update it looks like the switch outsold the ps4 at launch but not the wii. Which is really good.
We don't know how much it sold yet, so there's no way to compare. All we know is that it sold over 300,000 in Japan and 80,000 in the UK
The 3ds came out like 6 years ago and sun, moon just came out a few months ago. How is that a launch game?
IMO you should never buy a console for a single game. If Zelda is the only game that interests you in the launch window wait until there's more games that you want, Zelda will still be there.
Knack outsold super mario 3d world in the UK.
This is the UK which is a weak market for nintendo why would they have a huge amount of units available there when they could focus on their strong markets like japan and the US
I believe that japan and the us got the most consoles. Nintendo focused more on their biggest markets for the launch.
For some reason that made me think of the South Park episode where they made Cartman a ginger. lol
Wow the Switch did way better than the wii u
I think it sold well because it has rpg elements and it's not a dude bro type of game. Open world seems to be much more popular in Japan than shooters are.
