That's a lot of consoles.

No it's not. It actually helped the nintendo brand by getting everyone's attention at the same time they were announcing their new console. Why is everyone on this site so dramatic about everything? You do know that you could emulate these games on you computer or you can get a retro pi(which is cheaper by the way).

They didn't make any money off of this console, it was mostly used as a marketing ploy.

They way Nintendo seems to be using these mini consoles as marketing ploys to have the Nintendo brand in the new during the holiday seasons, I wouldn't be surprised if the snes mini is released in the same window as Mario Odyssey.

They're not going to re-release the nes mini. You were sort of right with the whole publicity stunt thing, because nintendo made no money on this console and just used it to bring hype to their brand at a time when they were revealing a new console. The experiment by nintendo worked.

Actually the nes mini didn't make nintendo any money at all. They broke even on the system. Nintendo used this console as a way to bring hype to the nintendo brand during the holiday in time for the reveal of the switch. All in all it was just a marketing ploy. It was a smart move to come out with it and now it's a smart move to stop making it.

No one gave a shit about the wiiu, not even nintendo. With the aggressive marketing and the game releases throughout the year they will get a bunch of people that didn't even know what the wiiu was to get a switch. They don't need the gamers they need the casuals because that is where the real money is.

I think there will be a updated switch by 2019 - 2020 and Nintendo could sell just the console(tablet) to allow people to update at a lower price than people that have to buy the full package.

Gamers aren't the smartest people in the world as a whole.

3219d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

I believe the switch had a little more than 2 million, so the sales numbers are probably around 2.3 - 2.5 million world wide.

The wiiu did start off well but fell off starting at the end of the first month. The switch is the second fastest selling console of all time and sold more than double of what the wiiu did in it's first month. With games like Mario Kart, Arms, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade 2, Mario odyssey, Sonic Mania, and others that are coming this year, the switch is going to sell very well. Nintendo just needs to keep the games coming consistently throughout its life span if they want t...

The switch will outsell the first year of the wiiu by july or august. It will most likely outsell the lifetime numbers of the wiiu by holiday season next year.

The people who are expecting the scorpio to make a big splash need to step back and reevaluate the situation. The Scorpio is ms' version of he ps4 pro. The console that is going to be ms main seller is going to continue to be the x1s. The scorpio is going to mostly be for the die hard xbox fan that will upgrade for the sake of upgrading. There isn't going to be enough of a reason for people to buy the scorpio over the x1s or to get a scorpio if they already have it. The ps4 and the sw...

It's just a stupid thing that people on this site like to parrot. The switch has sold over 2 million units already. Last time I checked that's about the normal amount that console makers put out during the first month of launch. And why would a company do something as stupid as that when their goal is to make money.

What are you talking about? Nintendo doesn't have any say over what gamestop chooses to do with some of the stock that they get. Gamestop buys the console from Nintendo and they can sell it however they want. This has nothing to do with Nintendo.

This is a smart thing to do.

Nintendo had 2 million units available at launch and have had 3 restocks that have sold out in minutes. That is a pretty normal amount of consoles that companies have at launch.

I think both the switch and ps4/slim will outsell the scorpio. They're cheaper and have big exclusive games coming out this holiday season.

They're basically optimization patches, since they didn't have time to optimize it for the switch.
