Ray tracing relies on the cpu as well as the GPU. Yes, the GPU is the main portion of the hardware that gets you RT, but enabling ray tracing also increases the CPU workload
The comments commenting on this article and the article about the low resolution really don’t understand that it doesn’t actually look like the states resolution. It uses AMD FSR 2.1 to reconstruct to 4K which provides pretty great results. The resolution ranges aren’t even bad. Keep in mind that FSR 2 and DLSS are native 1440p in quality mode when targeting 4K and 1080p in performance mode when targeting 4K. So this falls well within that balanced to quality mode range to expect from a recon...
With there being so many modes and such glaring performance issues across pretty much all of them, no. The QA and development time spent on these 10 modes would have been better spent on 1 or 2 modes, which would have performed better and made better use of the PS5 as a fixed platform. You're not getting the benfits of console development "coding to the metal" when you have so many performance modes. You simply cannot devote the time and money to maximize them.
You don’t even need the last-gen version for the $10. On PlayStation, you can get it for $10 regardless of if you owned it on PS4 during the launch window discount. I only played it back on PS3 at launch. Never touched it again and got it on PS5 for $10
you yourself should know what you like. Let’s see as a simple example that you love the standard open world formula. And you find a common line in low review scores about it being just another open world game. Regardless of how low the scores are, if that’s the main complaint, then you should know that won’t be an issue for you??????
You seriously completely misunderstood the point of my comment. I’m not saying to find the one good score to give you confirmation bias. I’m s...
Or actually read and watch the reviews and pay attention to the reasons they get those scores and then decide which ones fall more in line with your tastes and expectations? If a review docks points for so and so thing that doesn’t generally bother you, then you know it won’t be an issue for you personally. Stop looking at scores and look at the reason behind the scores
It is one of my favorite games of all time.
It uses ray traced local light shadows, so the tiniest of objects in the world will cast a real-time shadow if there is a local light source shining on it. This could be the most random cans/miscellaneous objects lining the streets to the tiny rivets/bolts you see on different public benches/structures. It is subtle if you don't know what you're looking for, but it does add a layer of immersion that is gone without the RT at all.
I don’t think it needed a delay. I think it needed to cancel the PS4/Xbox One versions and spend all that time wasted trying to get a game to run on weak consoles that was built for high end PC’s first and that time and optimization work would have been better spent focusing exclusively on the new consoles. I will sing it until the end of time. Cyberpunk ended up the way it did because it had to fit on last-gen consoles
This will not open any floodgates because we used to pay full price or almost full price for just resolution bumps and nothing more during the PS3 era and remasters didn’t start significantly improving visual settings until last-gen, and now this gen, a VAST MAJORITY of games have gotten free upgrades and with much larger differences than Uncharted. This release is a blip on the radar of an industry that has largely moved to free upgrades for visual enhancements.
The Prototype bundle says hello. I’ve been very critical of this release, but even so, it is FAR from the worst remaster. There are so many worse ones in this industry. Prototype as mentioned but also stuff like Warcraft 3, Crystal Chronicles, and the list goes on.
@ecchiless
Sounds more like YOU are moving the goal posts. The discussion was about how much effort there is to this “remaster”. So I provided one remaster that is much more significant but since you sheep were unsatisfied with that, I provided a FREE PATCH that does so much more than the PAID upgrade for Uncharted and you’re just going to say that’s null and void? THAT is pathetic.
Just going to ignore how many FREE upgrade paths like Metro Exodus Enhanc...
@versus and guess what? metro Exodus Enhanced Edition was FREE and doubked the framerate while adding fully ray traced lighting that had a transformative effect on the visuals. And that was free. So either way you slice it, this uncharted collection is extremely basic
Last I checked, remasters like the Judgment remaster doubled the framerate and resolution at the SAME time on top of making sweeping changes to lighting, shadows, reflections, and even texture quality on the most random incidental objects. All uncharted really offers is the different performance options with boosted draw distances and…that’s it….did they bother to improve the pixelated shadows, volumetric effects, and reflections? No, no they didn’t. It is a barebones release
The actual improvement is negligible. It’s essentially just LoD/draw distance. The actual faults in its rendering like the low resolution reflections, volumetrics, and shadows remain in place. It is hardly befitting of the remaster label.
Whereas we saw the Nathan Drake collection get wholesale improvements to textures, geometry, etc…this new collection is mostly a resolution and framerate boost.
We’ve even had FREE upgrades like the Metro Exodus Enhanc...
There literally have been stories of developers in the modern era sleeping at work and not being home for weeks on end
I don’t care what anyone says. Outriders is one of my favorite games in years. The combat and gameplay loop are engaging. Such a great loot system combined with action that doesn’t let up, forcing you to always be on your toes
And it would’ve done even better if it had a native PS5 port or some sort of PS5 enhancement. I downloaded it when it came out on plus, but never put actual time into it because of that
The original Alan Wake is a straight up action. Even Sam Lake himself said the original only had elements of horror. Alan Wake was never this deeply disturbing psychological or horror experience some people seem to claim it was. It was just an action game. This is going to be a proper survival horror game, at least according to Remedy.
RE 5 was great and I’d still take the co-op. The only one that needs actual massive change is 6. And not the co-op focus. The extremely linear and directed and scripted nature of its campaigns. Co-op is great in RE as 5 showed and on a purely mechanical level, RE 6 feels great. The combat and the movement feels the best it has in the entire series. But it’s the game designed around those mechanics that needs reworking
