It would be suicidal if Sony were to do a price cut before Christmas. There would be a whole lot of pissed off people, especially if they did it late November. Expect a price cut for the PS3 sometime in Q2 of 2009, my bet is June.

PS3 owners are gonna be happy and XBox 360 owners are gonna be happy. The beta process regardless of how you get accepted helps the devs tweak things a bit more before going gold. Not to mention you get to play a game that not many others can. I see this in and of itself compensation enough for the time spent "testing" the product.

All the time by the actions it takes and the reactions they make. Aside from the XBox 360 strategy of buying timed 3rd party exclusives or shelling out cash for some exclusive DLC, they have no real first party games to speak of. On top of what you already listed add the following into the equation. Cell processor, 256 meg XDR memory and 256 Meg GDDR3 memory, nVidia RSX GPU, Gigabit ethernet, Wireless B/G, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and a HDMI 1.3a port. Not to mention the initial R&D costs, manufacturing costs (aside from the cost of the components), packaging/shipping and advertising. This is all built into the budgets of these consoles.
As pretty as it looks it's missing a few things. Namely the X, O, Sqaure, Triangle and two shoulders. But hey! It looks like it does have 2 analog sticks!
Do people author such utter CRAP? The Blu-Ray is an integral part of the PS3's design and partly the reason, aside from the cell, that it will be able to achieve a 10 year life cycle. For those that know nothing about microprocessor technology the Cell is probably one of the most incredible processors ever designed. Well I understand now how it works through your explanation. Personally though I don't see any need to go through the hassle of getting X type of armor though. If the end result is the same while wearing what you started the game with. It almost detracts from the RPG element of the game. I am not saying it is a bad idea just not my cup of tea.
Pennywise.. thing is BC may not be that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. What has to be realized though is that he is to get an identically functioning unit BACK. In this case he did not because it was not BC and therefore not what he had paid for. Kinda like sending you're 450 HP Corvette in for an alternator replacement and getting it back with a 2.0 liter 4 banger instead. Yes it works but just ain't quite the same.

Really? No Kidding? Home will be an absolute monster of a social application. Not to mention with the industry support behind it and themed rooms to expand on game universes and a place for fans of said games to gather while not in game is huge. Is an excellent franchise and excellent game. The thing you have to remember about this though is that it is not a run and gun shooter. When you die in a round, your dead, no respawn. You have to work tightly with your team and actually pay attention to things.
