Correct but the reason Microsoft shows any profit is from its' computer software business. It is also a US based corporation so is not effected by the increased strength of the Japanese Yen to the US Dollar.
If you have a few grand to spare buy shares in Sony, Toyota and Panasonic.
I give the guy credit for 3 good games: Earthworm Jim, MDK and Messiah. Other than that everything that he has been involved with game wise is absolute and utter CRAP. Some but not all examples of his craptastic work are:
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtle's
7 Up's: Cool Spot
McDonald's Global Gladiators
Disney's Aladdin
Robocop vs. Terminator
The Terminator Sega CD
Captain Planet
The Matrix: Path of Neo

"...saying it needed to capitalise on the new opportunities afforded to the company by digital distribution on the PlayStation Portable 3000 and continue to develop new business models."
So I guess direct release to the Playstation Store via PSN of new titles is not a new business model? Not to mention ALL PSPs benefit from this not just the PSP-3000. Man I wish I could get paid to be as dumb as some of these guys. What's worse is that they get interviewed and their ...
Primarily on the sales of its' office suite and server software. On the quarter server and tools rose 17% and office 20%. They did NOT disclose the profit/loss of their gaming division though which makes me wonder whether or not it was profitable. So before you go tooting your horn make sure you get all the facts as to what facets of MS were responsible for the overall 9% increase.
Censorship due to religous pressure! Next week we are burning books! YAY!

With Pre-owned games. Not to mention if they aren't being sold at Gamespot they will be sold on craigslist or EBay. Secondly you will NEVER stop software piracy, this is an unfortunate truth. Lastly, digital distribution is nice but cannot be implemented to a full retail scale. This is due simply to monthly bandwith restrictions from major ISPs. The other problem is physical storage space. Even a terabyte of space would not be nearly enough to go to a digital dist. only scheme. Not to ...
Is an affordable pricepoint for a lot of people. A lot of folks argue that people don't want or need Wifi for the XBox 360. Well I tend to disagree. If I had one I would definately want one simply because I don't want cables streaming out of my entertainment center to a switch or router. As a piece of equipment in an entertainment center and those with a HD capable TV the PS3 makes more sense with the Blu-Ray player. The large HD is just icing on the cake.

that has never heard of this game until now? I mean I would like to think I am well read and keep abreast of upcoming titles but this one wasn't even on my radar.
@die_fiend
It isn't that the PS3 is hard to develop for it's the devs being lazy. A few colleaugues at AT&T Labs here in NJ are using Cell based blades to do some simulation work and developing on it is only slightly harder than on a standard x86 based machine. They have stated that the extra time put...
This week alone not just Sony but MANY other large profile companies cut profit outlook due to the current state of the economy. I believe that Sony was hoping that their games division would have been stronger to be able to pump up or rather not cut their profit outlook by as much as they have. The holiday season is coming and the bundles are coming as well. Things will get better all around but it's going to take time, not just for Sony but for everyone.
156k units in a week? Sheesh some people are just NEVER happy!
Ask him to speak English properly and form coherent sentences.
Apparently English comprehension is sorely lacking to many on this site. Gamespot did not review THE GAME. They based their score and the majority of their review on the backend servers. Had they done the same with any other online game like WoW, which received a 9.5, it would have been a 6.5 to 7.5. The game in itself is not broken by any stretch. Sure a bug here or there like any other game but is a very solid game nonetheless.
As usual some fantastic input from you!

Someone that actually reviewed THE GAME and not the server issues. Imagine that and based on THE GAME and not the server issues it received a respectable score.
review MMO's on release and gave them excellent scores even with all the initial connection and lag problems. See the hypocrisy here?
No. But it does deserve better than the 6.5 it received. The game is NOT broken. The backend, read servers, are in need of some work to create a more stable online environment. This has been the case historically with all online only games. Those games got reviewed based on the game and NOT connectivity issue which is NOT the case here. Gamespot issued a biased review based solely on the shortcomings of the backend severs and not the actual game. Had they reviewed WoW or any other MMO ...
Is that Wii Music sold 99k units! I really don't get the Japanese and their taste for games someties.
is strong here. Why is it when an online only game for the PS3 is released and needs some patches it's the end of the world and the game sucks? Yet when an online only game for a PC, read MMO, like WoW, EVE, Everquest, etc... is released and has stability issues and needs patches it's ok and gets great reviews? This is hypocrisy at its' finest and for anyone to deny it they would be lying to themselves and everyone else.
Face it folks SOCOM, the game not the servers, is an exc...
I really dig the parts with the PSP / PS3 working together more. Also, the whole watch your morning news through Life with Playstation just sounds freakin awesome.
