"You don't bash the 360? Really? "the 360 is an unreliable piece of crap in terms of hardware."
Well he is stating an absolute truth. The fact that he chose to call it a piece of crap in terms of hardware is in fact, true. There is no need to dance around a subject or be even the remote bit politically correct about it when the failure rate is above 30%. Hell Ralph Nader exposed the Ford Pinto and Chevy Corvair for their exploding gas tank issues. The failure r...
People are quick to judge based on the source. This is commonplace and should be ignored and taken with a grain of salt. The article itself was well written and just points out what has been asked all along. Why do consumers continue to support a known bad product? For that matter why do current customers continue to support a product that has failed on them multiple times? I can see where some of the games merit some tolerance to the hardware failure but not to the level exhibited. The...
Wow first time I have been called a fanboy. Anyway. I am merely stating facts. The only reason the XBox 360 has a 3 year warranty is because of its' inherent problems and insane failure rate. There is no excuse that can justify the poor quality of the 360. The fact that the masses were appeased by a 3yr. warranty simply reinforces the fact that as consumers people are sheep. Whats worse is when Xbox 360 owners rabidly defend a faulty console when they are on their 3rd or 4th unit. Bec...
for the PS3 would pretty much guarantee the end of whats left of my non-existant free time. Between wife, kids and now R2, LBP, Fallout 3, CoD5, SOCOM and soon KZ2, GoW3, GT5 AND Twisted Metal!? This generation of consoles has proven to be incredible in terms of quality of game as well as the quantity of quality games in a short time. To think... this generation has only started.
Clown. The PS3 is gaining ground everyday on the XBox 360. 2008 showed that even a drastic price cut couldn't even stem the tide. With FF XIII being exclusive in Japan to the PS3 and FF XIII Versus exclusive to the PS3 and WKC coming out the Japanese market will eat them up. As for 2009 the PS3 has a stronger known lineup of first and second party exclusives. Third party devs are also beginning to see the benefits of making the PS3 their lead dev console.
@Reda
The sad thing is people are defending the 360 saying "It's OK and I am willing to deal with the repeatedly faulting hardware because of the great games." That is the most idiotic justification ever. Going by that you should be willing to say "It's OK that my wife/girlfriend bangs everyone she sees except me and spends all my money because she makes great meatloaf" For those that can't figure out what I am saying... You're getting screwed and taken advantage of and you a...
From the article:
"Here are some things that the iPhone has going for it game-wise:"
I stopped reading after this. Let's get this straight iPhone + Games does not a DS or PSP killer make. This dude drank way too much of the Apple kool-aid.
What a freakin joke! Where's the "Black Friday" part? All the games listed are retail, no more no less. B2G1F for used games not too bad.. but otherwise an absolute joke for a Black Friday list. GameStop.. FAILS.
Granted the "NXE RRoD" thing may or may not be true. But as far ass RRoD stories they are 100% real in terms of failure rate. It is now a fact that MS knew about the RRoD issue prior to production but did NOTHING about it because they just had to beat Sony to the punch and get their console out first. I am glad Sony took the time to engineer and test the PS3. This assured me as a consumer that I was getting a product that would work when I wanted it to work and continue to do so...
Microsoft KNEW about the RRoD issue with the 360 and they still released it. This article claims that a MS service rep. predicted a problem with NXE and RRoD. Makes me question whether or not he predicted it OR if he knew it was an issue from internal testing and was scoffed at. Don't put it past MS at this point especially knowing the truth behind the RRoD fiasco. What scares me more is that if it was known that this would be a problem and MS did it anyway it just screams of desparation ...
If the New Xbox Experience (NXE) causes the 360 to RRoD shouldn't it then be called the Old Xbox Experience or Same Xbox Experience?
Ooh man you are a putz ain't ya? Even after I pleaded with you to refrain from making yourself look like a slapper you continue to spew. First off the Cell B/E full on 1 PPE and 8 SPEs has a theoretical maximum sustained FLOPS performance of approx. 204.8 gigaFLOPS. IBM has already attained a sustained throughput of 197.8 gigaFLOPS which is 96.58% of the theoretical max. Secondly, for you the reading impaired, it isn't about speed and cooling. The Cell runs cooler and uses less power tha...
So roughly $1400 USD.. for a system based on the i7. I am assuming you have a system based on the low end or mid range i7 seeing that the prices for the i7 processors are:
The Core i7 920 costs 314 Euro, Core i7 940 614 Euro and Core i7 XE 965 1081 Euro. These prices are from 11/14/08 so no too old either. In any case $1400 USD gets me a nice 37" 1080p HDTV ($700), PS3 ($399), External USB 2.0 500 Gig drive ($100), internal 320 gig Upg for the PS3 ($80), Bluetooth KB/Mou...
"...Jon Peddie (JPR) claiming the high price of an HDTV for the console is proving too much of an investment in these uncertain economic times."
Yeah and $1,500 to $2,000 for a high end gaming rig is not high priced? Granted you can do more on a PC than JUST game. Same can be said of a PS3 though if you install linux on the unit. Not to mention with a PS3 there is no issues of virus or malware infection. Price wise meh... it's about a draw. $399 for a PS3 and about...
First off this lawsuit is based in a vaporware patent and should not have been upheld in court. Patenting IP which has never been produced is absolute bullsh*t and should be abolished as should software patents. Their purpose for existence is to suck money out of companies who actually make a product that resembles the patent and whammo! lawsuit is initiated. It's a shame that this kind of crap goes on on a daily basis. It's one thing to patent something that you've done or made. Patent...
I started reading through the intel I collected in game about a week ago and it is really good stuff. Imagine that.. reading.. in a video game!!? Who says video games aren't educational? ;)
Another video comparison!! WOOHOO!! NOT! These things are getting REALLY old and tired now.
"imagine what someone with a pc containing an I7 processor feels like, if your already proud of a console."
I know what I would be feeling like... "Oh my God!!! I spent $2500 on a system that can be outperformed by a $399 console!"
Anyway, the I7 is a nifty little processor but not nearly worth the cost. IF I wanted computing power I would drop the $8k on a QS22 Blade and run absolute circles around an I7 based system. That's only using ONE pro...
Actually the Cell is becoming more mainstream every day. The US DoD is adopting Cell based systems as well as JPL. The Cell is also found in a myriad of new generation imaging equipment. The Cell is also going to be the main processor in all of IBMs servers starting in 2010 as they are phasing out the Power6 in favor of the PowerXCell 8i and eventually Cell 2. Cell based systems are also being widely adopted in for advanced manufacturing and prototyping due to its' ability to render and r...
Yes all consoles have problems and failures nothing is perfect by any stretch of the imagination. The thing is it is more than SOME 360s that have problems. It is a 30%+ failure rate which is something that is unheard of. That's the point here, not the 3 yr. warranty or the games that people like to play. The failure rate on the 360 is arguably one of the worst failure rates for a commercial product in history yet NOTHING was done by the manufacturer to fix this. Instead Microsoft throws...
