"Who doesnt ?"

Me. My personal systems are a Dec Alpha DS20e, DS10L Slate, Playstation 3 running a custom compiled version of Yellow Dog Linux 6.0 and a PPC based Powerbook. My development and production systems are Sun Sun Fire V890s and Sun Sparc Enterprise M5000 systems. All these systems run a flavor of *Nix and yes OS X is a *Nix at its' core. So again.. PLEASE stop yapping. You're making yourself look bad. kthxbye

Well IBM has already proven that they can get near 98% efficiency with from the Cell. So they are very close to the theoritical maximum when using that platform. This is one of the reasons Roadrunner has seen huge gains in performance.

I have done this dance with you on other occassions. Intel's closest processor being introduced in terms of processing power to the Cell 2 will be the Larrabee which will fall far short of the teraFLOP on a chip. AMD has yet to even start designing a unit using similar concepts to Cell or Larrabee. Now please, PLEASE refrain from making yourself look more like a putz. kthxbye

As I have stated before and will again is the most powerful processor on the planet. With the PowerXCell 8i variant and the upcoming Cell 2 being a single chip teraFLOP processor the face of computing is going to change. Running linux on a PS3 and then optimizing it for the PS3 is a wonderful experience. Especially when you see what can be done with it. Coders are just now beginning to write apps that take advantage of the SPEs under linux and the first one is the SPE Scalar which is real...

The hell you say! Blashpemer! Well actually Microsoft has been the king of mistakes for a long time. Starting with Microsoft BOB, to the known code in Win95 that helped induce Netscape instability and now to the more recent XBox, Zune, Windows Vista and the RRoD issue which has been exposed as something they knew about. In any case Microsoft is made of fail and has been for a very very long time. They are incapable of innovating anything and just copy. Their mantra is Embrace, Extend, E...

pp? Hmm... comments are similar. In any case yes you're right! HD ready out of the box! With its' Blu-Ray player, HDMI output and hard drive! ooh wait.. that's a PS3. Sorry. Next time skip your morning bowl of failios. kthxbye

Even though I don't have a 360 the fact that Live is down just plain sucks. Particularly because most of the time it was reported down was over the weekend. If anything this just shows an example that even though it's a pay for service doesn't mean it's superior or without fault compared to PSN. Hope ya all get back up soon.

Rating video games is like trying to herd cats. It's a GAME, period. Hell football and professional wrestling is violent and kids watch that all the time. Yet letting a kid play a game rated Teen or Mature is a no no? Whatever. Double standards and hypocrisy abound and the only way to stop it is to write your state Senators and tell them to just shut the hell up and do something important. I can think of a few examples... how about working on the economy for starters.

These are shipped units not installed. I hate to say it but MS goes by shipped numbers only. They did the same for Vista when they tried to hype that turd of an operating system. They included the upgrade certificates as licenses sold even though the units were running Windows XP. Microsoft has been creating numbers for a LONG time and this is just another example of how they manipulate the data.

Either she was looking for an excuse to leave him and this one popped up. Either that or she gives it up one every month or two and the guy just gut sick and tired of waiting.

That would be the Sony Zego, I think.

http://pro.sony.com/bbsccms...

It also has an optional DVI output board so you can hook it up directly to a display. I have yet to find any pricing info on the unit. Would be nice to have one but I don't see this being any less that $8k - $9k USD. Would be nice though.

Microsoft solidified the position of the consumer as a "lemming" or a "McPerson". Simply because consumers continued to purchase and support their sh*tty product. This just sets the example for their next console which will be no more or less reliable and consumers will just buy into it because it's an XBox. The motto is quite simple and holds true to this day. You get what you pay for. No more, no less.

Where did they come up with console? $200 USD for this? Even though I am no fan of the XBox 360 the 360 Arcade trumps this thing hands down for the same cost.

Foxgod I noticed you neglected to reply to me in the gamer zone and then I see you here spreading misinformation and FUD. For those that just hit the open zone, here ya go.

The i7 is nifty but let's clear things up. A full on Cell 1 PPE/8 SPE has the equivalent processing power of approx. 3x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz processors. The new PowerXCell 8i increases the performance by nearly 30% giving it the equivalent processing power of roughly 4x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GH...

The article reinforces that the Cell is excellent at number crunching if that is what it is tasked to do in that specific instance. It is capable of far more when tasked to and does it well. This is due to the flexibility of the archtiecture and its' surrounding components, XDR, RSX, FlexIO, etc... IF, notice I said IF, one could get a PC based on a 45nm Cell B/E with 1 Gig XDR RAM and a fully accessible RSX chip what could be done is amazing. The sheer amount of processing power in that u...

This thing is fast for what it does. When it comes to encoding and transcoding it is a beast. Best of all it is a power miser. When the card gets better support and drivers I can only imagine the performance improvements.

Is ok so far. Played a little of the campaign and then some TDM online. My only gripe so far is respawning and being camped. It has happened in a few games where my entire team was wiped 2 or 3 times on respawn. Other than that minor annoyance a fun game so far. Can't wait to unlock Nazi Zombies!
