I do not see Sega as that bad a games developer, however what struck me about this is....
Sega used to be like EA and make quality, fun and inovative software, but recently they have seemed to lose their way and whilst their games are not total trash (3DO Army Men games), they are not of their old standard. Example the other day about not having to steer on Sega Rally.
Now they are moaning about PS3 sales, now I will admit they are not quite on par with the Wii, ...
I will buy this game day one. It looks fun and different. Between now and then its Warhawk and Stardust HD to tide me over.
Gnothe1 - Whilst I acknoledge shortages, Sony did not realease their console worldwide. Europe, part of Asia and Australia were all waiting another 4-8 months before release, that would have effected sales because the PS3 was not out last Christmas in the 3rd biggest territory. Yes Microsoft did well and have continued to do well, but other companies have had problems aswell.
Sega should start by making games like they used to, the public have been crying out for Shenmue for ho...
If this happens around UT 3 time, things will get real intresting for Christmas.
Whilst I feel it was a lack luster Game Show, I do feel a little game called Halo 3 had something to do with it.
Right now most 360 owners are a buzz with its release (can't help but feel that Microsoft kinda planned it to tie in with the Halo 3 release), any announcement right now would have been down played in comparison.
Yes an announcement of FFVII or MGS4 being released in time for Christmas may have taken some of the buzz off Microsoft, but I do feel neithe...
Okay I will start this off by saying, I have nothing against the XBox 360 and have played on the console a few times (I just don't want to line Bill Gates's pocket with anymore money and have never forgave him for my computer crashing everyday for the last 2 years with XP and software / hardware conflictions).
Microsoft have shot themselves in the foot aswell. Halo 3 was meant to be out last November? And PS3 is the waitstation? Telling customers that they have broken their XBo...
IMO a lot of people want to see Sony fall flat on its face. Every step in the right direction seems too little too late. Every statement is taken way out of context, everything that Sony say is a lie and if Sony are right, it is done out of desperation.
I am a PS3 owner and have been very happy since day 1. I expected the drout of games due to Sony not just abandoning the PS2. I expected to pay more, because it is new technology and expect it to last 7-10 years.
...
Well done Microsoft, but it was to be expected. Price drop, Bioshock and Halo 3 have all helped bump up the sales.
But to write off the PS3? If you look at the big games for Sony, yes they are for next year and you may argue some may go multi-format, but:
Final Fantasy: 8-10 million.
Metal Gear Solid: 6-8 million.
Gran Turismo: 6-8 million.
The thing to remember is the 360 year one did not have that many amazing titl...
A price cut would suggest that you get the same console for a lower price. The 40gig SKU is most likely to come out around November / December with some of the whistles and bells removed IMO.
IMO this game would turn everything on its head any console it is for.
The original game sold 9.4 million copies worldwide, even if it only sold that many again it would push any consoles sales through the roof.
Can't wait to play this. It looks good and looks fun to play.
Sorry but have to disagree with this. I am a happy PS3 owner, but I know even with an amazing year next year the XBox 360 will not be a "distant 3rd" by 2009.
Sony could take over the 360 is sales, but to say that they will put 360 into 3rd? That would mean sales akin to the Wii and whilst I think FF and MGS will sell through the roof, I do not see them shifting the amount of consoles to put the 360 that far behind.
IMO all that Sony need:
1) Final Fantasy VII
2) Metal Gear Solid 4
3) Killzone 2
4) Final Fantasy XIII
5) The first sandbox game that takes full advantage of blu-ray
After that Sony will be selling very well, yes a price drop might help, but with those games they have loyal fans (FF & MGS) and impressed with Killzone 2. The sandbox game would show that the storage can and will make a difference (size of map / non-repetative graphic...
I would like to see the hunter tasks from FFXII.
A few new Summons.
The linking of limit breaks (similar to XII).
Better character interaction leading to multiple endings.
Yet again they could just leave it as it is and I would still be happy. FFVII was one of the best RPG's I have ever played, the thought of it being re-made and brought up to date is very appealing.
Sony have enjoyed success with the previous consoles and know that being in 3rd place does not matter as much as hitting 15million sold by Christmas '08.
08 is the year Sony has to deliver big to consumers and software developers alike. If development becomes easier and Sony make the 15million companies may see the PS3 as a viable platform for exclusivity.
IMO Sony have not made the big impact as expected and we all know the Halo 3 effect, but what of the Final F...
IMO the analyst is playing it a little safe. I would have thought Microsofts biggest franchise would have at least made it 3-1 over the PS3.
Microsoft have been smart with a price cut and with Halo 3 due out in September, it should be another good month for them.
Even though some people have slated Sony for its sales, it is now selling at a constant and if you consider it took Microsoft 16-18 months to hit the 10 million Sony are well on their way.
Manic Minor
Jet Set Willy
Chuckie Egg
Kung-Fu Master
Doom
Elite
Some one should update these games, I spent hours on these games as a kid.
I am getting this game asap, it looks the part and appears to have good solid involving gameplay. I hope Drake's Fortune does for PS3 as Tomb Raider did for the PS1.
Adventure / Beat 'Em Up. Quite liked them on PS2, but the cut scenes are long.
Would love a revamp of this game and would love it even more 8-16 player online.
