I think it is developers wanting to get games out on time. Yes the PS3 is harder to develope for and yes the 360 is easier, because 360 runs the same way that a PC runs. The PS3 (just like the PS2 before it) runs differently, this is why games like God Of War II and Final Fantasy XII was achievable on last generation, they both look amazing and didn't seem plausable around 2 years ago.
As for comments about Blu-Ray: Just wait for the first sand-box game that is around 500 squar...
But doesn't the title sound like a porno: Hot Shots Golf 5??
Retail - I want the headset.
Companies are now a days asked by console manufacturers for a release date sometimes a full year before the game is released. This means that the programmers have to allow for error fixing and bug finding, they also have to allow for programming difficulties. But things never run that smoothly.
That is the area where the 360 has the advantage, it is programmed the same way that PC games are programmed. This means that most companies who have made PC games will be quite at home ...
Sorry but realism leads to banning. Right now I live in a country where idiots are trying to ban games with certain content.
I enjoyed the first and looked forward to the second Manhunt, but now do I want to play a watered down version?
Keep the edge off realism and then we will always be able to blow the heads off vertically challenged (don't want to offend the zombies) with a shotgun.
These games I would NEED not want:
Worms
Hogs Of War
International Track and Field
Vigilante 8 1&2
Azure Dreams
The top 4 with online options to play other people online.
I am not bothered if it goes multi format, as long as it does not effect the developement of the PS3 version.
There are many games on the 360 that I would like to see come over to the PS3 format.
I can see your point to a degree, but the problem arises when you consider not all 360's have hard drives to install part of the game to, I am not meaning that as a flame, but you can understand that from a developers point of view it is not easy.
As to my statement of 5 disks, it should be taken into consideration that the games physics and control system have to be put on every disk (unless the hard drive is used).
My only doubt about the Blu-Ray drive is how m...
The problem is: the Wii is the fastest selling console of all time, a hell of a lot faster than the PS2 even.
It kinda leaves the other consoles in limbo, the 360 is let off the hook by its sales, but if it had released at the same time as the PS3 and Wii it too would be in the same boat as Sony.
I would like to know how many Japanese Wii owners own / or plan to own a second console?
Sony are not doing aswell as expected, but both Microsoft and Ni...
Yes that is all well and fine whilst a game is split into levels.
How about sandbox titles?
Would you really want to be swapping disks backwards and forwards to do the next mission, then back again to carry on?
And if they consider making the story run down the path across many disks, are you ready to pay a higher price for a game that comes on 5 dvd's?
I know what you are saying is correct that most games do not take advantage of ...
IMO I think the only game saved by the delay is GTA IV. All of the others could have still sold with very little or no effect from GTA IV.
I think the quality of games is getting so damn good that the version of GTA IV they had programmed was just not up to scratch for either system. The games this fall and beyond is looking hot and I mean that for all 3 systems not just 1.
One of my favourite songs, gonna be hard without the solo.... If they put the solo in....
The reason that PS3 owners go on about Blu-Ray is the storage capacity. I do not buy films on Blu-Ray, it is so bigger games with unrepetative textures can exist.
Sandbox games on 2 disks = linear game play. The only way it can work is by an install for all cut scenes onto the hard drive and the game in the DVD drive.
No console is to blame, the software company is. For giving us a false release date and then trying to make excuses for why the game is going to t...
I would say it is a few things that have put the release date back.
I would say the showing of most of the software at the E3 was of a high standard, maybe a little better than what Take Two was expecting.
The games for all consoles this fall are looking pretty damn good. Even the multi formats are looking good (well some of them are).
Differences between consoles and SKU's. This is no flame baiting, if it seems like it is, it is not intended that ...
The first every Joystick / Joypad I every played with had 1 button. It was for my Amstrad CPC464. It was the first computer I ever owned (yes I am old). Later on when the NES / Mastersystem arrived, it had 2 buttons on it, it took a couple of week to get used to.
During every successive console more buttons, different layout, touch sensitive, rumble, analogue sticks (it took around 2 weeks to get used to them) and triggers have arrived that have sometimes took a time to get us...
Once they get used to programming for the PS3 (around about 1-2 years), then you will be able to tell the games on Blu-Ray to the ones on DVD.
Just like when the PS2 came out, the games looked simular. But lets be honest: could God Of War II or Final Fantasy XII ever of fitted onto a CD? You could even probably go back to Devil May Cry & Final Fantasy X, most games after 1 year could not have fitted onto 1 CD.
I know some people will argue that the games coul...
As long as I can plug my keyboard / mouse into my PS3 I will be fine on FPS.
I had heard that they was trying it for Smackdown Vs Raw 2008.
I think if the figures are that high then they only have 2 choices
1) Bring down the price of the 80gig
2) Or have 2 SKU's
Both have good points and bad points. But IMO they will opt for 2 SKU's.
With your Stardust HD comment, it is addictive and fast. No slow down and takes an old school concept and makes it into something new.
With the strong line-up for the fall / winter from both Sony and Microsoft, it is anyones game.
EA are being kinda dumb, if any other companies come along with a better product EA will lose their anual income.
Yes I would accept new technology and accept about release dates as excueses, that is all well and good accept that other software houses are getting the 60fps out of the PS3.
IMO EA are to blame totally and I hope that it comes back to bite them on the a$$. EA used to be about innovation and originality. Something I have not seen from the company in ...
