At this point your best bet is to buy non-exclusive games on PC. You'll be able to grab a cheap copy of the RE4 remaster in the Steam Christmas sale no doubt, and RE Remake will be cheap enough to when it hits the service.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sony gives everyone the finger yet again with the PS5 and say no to BC only to conveniently have a whole range of remasters ready to go.
From Wikipedia:
"If products designed for the new standard can receive, read, view or play older standards or formats, then the product is said to be backward-compatible"
Sounds like it is in fact BC, but people are desperately clutching at straws to try and find any justification that they can to say that it isn't so Sony doesn't look as greedy as we all know that they are.
@smashman98
Because the PS4 is dominating the market, so Sony is using their gigantic lead as an excuse to be greedy and take advantage of all of us who supported them through their hard times.
It's not just this BC situation either, they're turning into a really crappy company in general. They locked multiplayer gaming behind the PS+ paywall and the quality of PS+ itself has nosedived, and they care more about their stupid marketing deals with COD an...
Well, the last game in the series had abysmal sales that were a tremendous drop compared to what the franchise usually sells, so there's no way of knowing how well the next one will perform.
To be honest I think people just got sick of a lot of problems that plague the franchise being ignored for so long by the developers, so when the last game dropped most people saw it was more of the same and decided to pass on it, which saw it sell terribly.
Hopefully...
"Its pretty straight forward what is happening. The losing console manufacturer is the one that ends up consumer friendly. The winner seemingly sees their advantage and TAKES advantage."
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. If you compare this generation to the last it's sad just how true this is.
VGChartz pulling numbers out of thin air yet again.
Or Sony could just release the PS2 emulator that allows these games to be played on PS4 for free? If people just wanna pop their PS2 discs in (or load their digital PS2 games) and play the games without earning any trophies, let them? That way they're using the emulator to just play the games as-is without any of the new functionality. Seems fair to me, and it's the least that Sony could do.
I think Ni no Kuni 2 had some weird phrasing for exclusiveness, like it was "console first" on PS4 or something? I only mention this because there's probably a chance that it will also appear on the Nintendo NX, whenever that comes out. Pure speculation however, but the way they described exclusivity was the kind of vague marketing speak that you typically see from Microsoft when they're worming around the topic of exclusivity as well.
You're right, making assumptions is bad and not worth writing articles about, but I will say that a lot has changed since the last console generation in regards to Japanese developer/publisher interest in PC gaming as a whole. We're seeing a lot of Japanese games seeing PC releases over the past couple of years and going into the future, so while this article could be completely bogus, it's also not out of the realm of possibility.
You mentioned the modern Ninja G...
@Macxb1
Haha. That's the really sad thing, is when you've got loopy fanboys screaming about how people are apparently "xbots" because they want some great games for their PS4.
It's just stupid, isn't it? It doesn't even make any sense either, how can you look at someone wanting better stuff from Sony to apparently be one of these so-called "xbots"? Oh yeah that guy wants some great games on PS4? Obviously he hates the c...
It would be nice if Chloe was part of the story again but I'm guessing that ND are relegating her and Cutter to multiplayer.
That would be fantastic but it will never happen because a lot of people would cancel their PS+ subscriptions instantly. That's why the game offerings have been so bad on PS+ since the PS4 launched, Sony knows they can lower the quality because everyone's locked-in for the multiplayer functionality.
I thought SOCOM 4 was a decent game, as was MAG. the problem was that Sony pushed them (and Sony Liverpool) into putting together some rushed Vita launch titles and gave neither the games or the platform the support that they needed. It's especially tragic in the case of Studio Liverpool because they were some of the most talented developers at Sony's worldwide studios. Wipeout HD (and the Fury expansion) were sheer technical masterpieces, and was one of the best demonstrations of wha...
Dark Souls 3, Dishonored 2, Uncharted 4 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for me.
What even is a "platform exclusive" game? That's the kinda of weird marketing I'd expect from a Microsoft conference where they're trying to weasel around whether a game really is exclusive or not.
If you don't need a PS4 to play the game, it's not exclusive.
Are exclusives the be-all and end-all of video games? No, but they're the reason I bought a PS4 and I'd call anyone here a liar if they said that wasn't their re...
@WelkinCole
...and there goes the point, whizzing over your head because you're trying to turn this into a fanboy console war rather than just looking at things reasonably. I can't enjoy a Forza/Gears/Halo rotation because unfortunately I don't own an Xbox, but it says a lot about you as a person that you instantly assume that anyone who dares to criticize Sony must apparently be an Xbox owner, because it's so crazy and unrealistic to you that you think a PS4 ...
@BattleAxe
I guess the writing was on the wall when Sony shut down a bunch of studios. Sony Liverpool gone, Zipper Interactive gone, and we know that after DriveClub faceplanted at release Sony ended up firing most of the staff to leave a tiny crew trying to fix the game and pump out DLC when they can. Then there's all the layoffs at Santa Monica Studio too and so on on and so forth.
They let the talented developers behind Warhawk/Starhawk go and enter th...
PSVR just reminds me of the 3D/Kinect/Move gimmicks. Same disastrous demos, same shovelware lineups. The only thing setting PSVR apart is the significantly higher price tag.
I think you're right. Everything about VR comes across exactly the same as the 3D/Kinect/Move gimmicks. It's the same thing all over again, complete with disastrously bad live demos and stupid "lolz this is so random! XD" shovelware.
LOL. Tumblr's gonna have a field day :p
