My point being is that the major argument for buying a PS3 is for exclusive games (I realize that there are other reasons, but for a gamer, this is the biggest). If the exclusive games are not as desired as multiplatform games, then that's a sign that people aren't as interested in the PS3's strongest point. It's not a stretch.
And sure, you could turn it around and use the same argument about the 360 or Wii, but their price point is probably their strongest attribute. They'll ...
Microsoft "stealing" an exclusive? I thought that people would have stopped whining about a game going multiplatform by now and realize that it's just good business at this point.
Oh, and on a sidenote - does anyone else find it troubling that a multiplatform "stolen exclusive" is on top of such "killer apps" as God of War III and inFamous on this list? And no Gran Turismo 5? I don't think that this bodes well for the much ballyhooed PS3 exclusives...
Your comment fails on so many levels that I don't even know where to begin.
So I won't...
Well, yeah cross-game chat, but also the report/feedback system, specific descriptions of what friends are doing in their games, exclusive demos, demos for ALL arcade releases, free daily videos (Major's minute etc), the party system, matchmaking that works, voice messaging, NetFlix streaming for current NF members, game with the developers, game with celebrities, streaming previews of all TV shows and movies.
I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out, but all of that is DEFINITELY worth $5...
Yeah, and it also works until you get frustrated with having to write absorbanant amounts of code to do something relatively simple.
See what I did there?
No.
The PS3's tedious coding is the Achilles heel for developers. You can get some spectacular results, but you have to put a TON more work that you would with coding on 360 or PC. Add in the longer than usual development cycles for the "better" games and the porting nightmares, and hopefully even you can see that the coding causes way more problems than storage limitations of DVD.
That is, if you want to see it...
I agree with 360 in that the aiming system was a bit wonky. Everything else he said was rubbish. Uncharted is my favorite PS3 game so far. I hope that they fix the aiming in 2.
I think Sony's lineup is strong enough that it doesn't need surprises. Microsoft is the flashier of the two when it comes to that, but it kind of goes hand in hand with their habit of showing "this year's games" at E3.
Either way though, I'm always glad to be a gamer. I just hope that Heavy Rain plays fun.
BUT, you have to admit - people who have a 360 that were CONSIDERING getting a PS3 for FFXIII (believe me, there's a lot more of them out there than N4Gers would have you think) no longer have a reason to. I mean, spend a few hundred more just so you don't have to get up and switch discs? Or maybe for some kind of game cross-talk with Versus XIII?
I myself don't know which console I will get it for. It really depends on how the game runs and if there is bonus content or the afore...
Hmmm, let's see...
Problem: Many media outlets claim (or question if) the PS3 is doomed
Reasoning: They must be biased or looking for hits
Problem: The PS3 is last in sales and losing ground to the first and second place systems
Answer: It will all change after "the big price drop" or "the next big game"
Problem: Most multiplatform games sell better on the Wii and 360
Reasoning: Multiplatforms suck - only exclusives ...
Well, gamers SHOULD care about sales somewhat. If a console doesn't sell well, it will lose support from third parties. If it sells poorly enough, the manufacturer will cut its losses. I'm not saying that that will happen with Sony, but look at the Atari Jaguar and Sega's more recent consoles. Both at one time were industry leaders, but then were relegated to the end of the pack. The games stopped coming, and eventually each console became obsolete. Again, slightly different situation than So...
You know, my eyes see what people are saying but all that my mind is seeing is "This game is going to be better than regular FFXIII because this is a PS3 exclusive."
Seriously, can't people show Multiplatform love without their "pride" in their choice of gaming console being threatened?
Bottom line - both games look terrific. Get XIII on your system of choice and Vs. XIII on your PS3.
Agree with Ninja Gaiden - especially on the hardest difficulty. But at least it stayed fun. Same with Battletoads.
You want hard and unfun though? Try Altered Beast from back in the day. Or maybe the infamous snowboarding levels from Cliffhanger on the Sega CD.
Staying in their comfort zone has gotten 48 million Wii'ss and 100 million DS's sold while their closest competitor to each has sold considerably less.
If your business model works, there's no point in changing it to compete with something that sells less. That's basic business.
Attack Microsoft - Nintendo rocks.
Attack Sony - Nintendo sucks.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Sales don't mean the greatness of a game, granted. BUT this game NEEDED to sell a lot more. People are dulling the fact that this was THE pivotal game for the PS3 to either start selling more or fall further behind the 360 and Wii. People like to name their lists of all of these future games coming out, but besides KZ2, the only other REAL potential system sellers are God of War 3 and Gran Turismo 5. Unfortunately for GT, there are a ton of racing games out there now - which means a ton of co...
I know... I forgot to put /sarcasm
THis place needs a good joke every once in awhile
530 billion yen? Isn't that like 15 American dollars? :)
I hope that this turns out well (even though we're dealing with some bad history in the development team) - this is still one of my favorite games of all time.
Well, there's two things with your comment:
1. Guerrilla's proprietary engine. Keyword here is proprietary. You're not going to see flight simulators or sports games or close-combat games or... well... ANY other games using the Killzone engine because it is specifically designed for Killzone where CryEngine is designed as a multipurpose engine to be used with a variety of games. Comparing the two in terms of implementation isn't really fair.
2. Killzone 2 has some cr...
