This is laughable. Blu-ray would have lost the format war if it wasn't for the PS3. The cost to Sony was brutal but everyone would be buying HD-DVDs this holiday season if it wasn't for the PS3.

They did nothing to drive sales this Holiday season. No bundles, no freebies, no price drop. Nothing... to the point they break even or lose money on each sale do you think they will order more? Not at the original price point. Which would require a price drop on the wholesale end. Not saying this is the case here but that is why devs DO NOT want to see their games drop so quickly in price.
At least for the 360s sold in the first year and a half. Its probably closer to 50%-60%. My first replacement is in the mail to MS. So I'll be on my 3rd 360 when it gets back. It actually lasted a year and half about 3 times as long as my first unit. Out of the 6 people I know with a 360, 5 of them have had it red ring.

I bought Metal Gear Solid 4 off ebay for $45 shipped, ten days after it came out. I saved $20 (if you include tax) off the retail price. I highly doubt laser discs ever had a market share of 10% to 12% like blu-ray now enjoys. They were also huge and only held 30 minutes to 1 hour of video on each side. Blu-ray will probably never dominate sales. But I don't see why it can't eventually snatch 30% to 40% of the home video market. Hardly what I would call an oddball obscurity.
So he doesn't like the PS3 architecture. I bet if you did an anonymous survey of developers you'd find a lot of them don't. People always value honesty until someone says something they don't like. Then its up with the pitch forks and the personal attacks.
Fact: PS 3 sold 20 mill in 2 years. 360 sold 28 mill in 3 years. If the PS3 is doomed then so is the 360. The PS3 may be a disappointment in terms of sales but it is not doomed. Sony made a calculated gamble by including blu-ray. It cost them dominance in the console market but gave them a new stream of revenue in the home video segment. Only time will tell if the gamble will pay off.
