I think of them as Mercs. If those checks from MS stop rolling in you can bet they will jump ship quicker then MS can say "shortage".
The commercial didn't make much sense to me either. The PS3 commercials last year with the morphing system were much better.

Read my post again. I said it does hurts Sony. But it doesn't help MS sell any more consoles. As far as I can tell we are in complete agreement.
As we saw with GTA 4 multiplat releases do nothing for hardware sales. So the only thing MS did was slow sales of PS3 hardware the month FF13 is released in the US and Europe. Spending gobs of money to slow the competition is a questionable move.

Its about money and how much MS paid them. It was probably a package deal that included timed exclusives on LR and SO 4. BTW FF 13 will comes out probably Mid 2k9 to 2k10. PS3 will have equaled the 360 install base or surpassed it by then. Find me one analyst, just one that says otherwise.
That said MS approach them after some show and as usual offered them the $$$ for timed exclusivity.
Mostly just some kids like Bladestar trying to make noise. I still love his argument that the 360 hard drive is proprietary technology and is more secure then a PS3 hard drive that's why it costs so much more. But a "ps3" 250 gb hard drive can be had for $75 now. A 320 gb hard drive for $100 shipped at Newegg. Its really a non-issue for most.

Have to disagree with you there. Sony pushed Uncharted pretty hard during the Holidays. I saw lots of commercials for it. Its a great game but its 8-10 hours with no co-op or multiplayer. Hard to justify a $60 purchase for that. I'm sure plenty of people rented it like I did.
People who buy Qore get the demo a week or two in advance, those that don't wait a bit. No different then what MS does with EVERY SINGLE demo for silver members. So all the people hating on Qore or busting Sony's balls over it stfu which includes the Beyond podcast crew at IGN.
The month Halo 3 was released it bumped sales of the 360 to 530k units. That's not much of a difference considering 1. MS pimped the hell out of Halo 3. 2 We are in an economic slowdown right now.
Lift off the faceplate and see if there are black marker dots on the MS tamper sticker. Also check the back to see if there are any marks where the little squares holes are. If you answer yes to both you got boned and got a refurb. If the answer is no then yes its just been siting around forever.

MS had a chance to lower the price to $299 and they decided not to for the new 60gb model. Unlikely that they would drop it anytime soon after announcing that the price would go back up to $350 when they were released.
