It is an absurd waste of space, for what? The PS3 has yet to be hacked in any meaningful way, and whilst 2GB copy-protection code wouldn't matter on blu-ray, I don't think they even have something as ridiculous.

On top of that, MS charge extra for multi-disk games. It's a bit of a slap in the face.

In my opinion there's no reason why Sports and Fighting games shouldn't be the same size as other games.

Because of the limited area (rinks, rings, pitches, arenas etc), they should be able to use far more assets in making it all looks good.

The problem is that for the majority (anything with a Year in the title), they tend to do just enough to make you buy next years title.

Remember when a significant portion of people couldn't play their legitimate purchase of Half Life 2, because "Steam was overloaded".

How quickly we forget. I don't particularly agree with Ubi's mentality, but to build Valve as these wise old Anti-DRM wizards is absurd.

If there is an example to use it's Stardocks: No Copy Protection whatsoever, but you need to register a legit version to gain updates, and free extras.

Devs only have <7GB per dual layer DVD because of the 360's (laughable, for its size at around 2GB per disk) copy protection.

There will be a point where MS is going to have to do something about it, and it's likely the answer will be a 720.

I'm impressed Rockstar managed to fit New York on a disk, but if the reports were true at the time, they also had to cut a lot of content.

And people who don't understand how data is accessed in a free roaming game, apparently.

It may have worked with FFXIII, but that's because the only free-roaming part occurs on the 3rd disk.

Well which is it, it's either in-house, or only published by them.

But the save you from answering FUEL was developed by the 3rd party ASOBO. That still doesn't negate the fact that even Codemasters staple racing games have stagnated.

I never thought that much of Black. It was great for a console FPS (especially for the era), but it was passable for a FPS in general.

Still, I enjoyed it at the time :)

It is a shame, like he says we don't have that many gaming heroes any more. John Carmack, Braben, Miyamoto Schafer, Ken Levine, Warren Spector, are a few I can name, but have drifted from their former glory, and the newer "heroes", like David Jaffe, CliffyB, Itagaki just seem more like loud mouth evangelists, rather than developers.

Does any other company know how to mess up a non-racing game so badly? Scratch that, does any other company know how to mess up a game so badly?

Even their racing games are a bit stale - I was looking forward to FUEL, until I saw how empty and half finished it was! Pacific Rift fills the gap nicely. And for everything else: Burnout Paradise is still excellent.

I've only played the demo's of both B and GoW3, but despite how much Beyonetta innovated the DMC-style hack/slash, the God of War demo had so much going for it, it innovates the entire action/adventure genre.

That one demo made me "OH SH!T" more times than almost any other entire game.

I'm not saying GoW3 deserves a 10, but I do know that Bayonetta, by comparrison is a weaker game, and it's a shame reviewers escelate their scores when it suits them.

I admit I was ready to rage if this got less than a 10.

I believe in a true 1-10 score, so when I play it, I'm sure at most I'd give it a personal 8 or 9 at the most. But it pisses me off rotten when reviewers decided to play the "mature" card and also the the 1-10 scale when for most of their games they'll use 7-10 scoring system.

I know they all deny they do this, but the hypocrisy is annoying.

But you show me something that isn't a "wireless electronic control device for human computer interface" and I'll show you something they just haven't managed to add batteries to yet.

Patent and Trademark laws are such a mess, I can only imagine we'd be in the age of Star Trek if everybody could use any idea.

And vintage nudity will work probably work for me here...

Congratulations 2K Games, have my money.

It would only be a problem if it's judged that a) the consumer would get confused between a relatively unknown brand of MS PC peripherals, and, and the published SONY controller, and b) if using the same trademark would affect sales and opinion of the MS brand.

Chances are, neither would happen.

Oh No! not 3 years to develop something like GOW3?!

Sounds quite fast considering: New Platform, New Engine, Upping the game in every conceivable way.

No mention of HL2? That should get a mention if only because of the "Oh Noes! We got haxxored! Start it all from scratch!"

Couldn't agree more... except I'd add Lair in there.

At least there would be a way to show that you played the game, and you enjoyed it, dammit!

that they developed?

WUH?!

Why not just fix the damned flaws?!

I'm not saying a 5 is amazing, but sure, I've bought plenty of games that were 4, 5 or 6 on average. You forget a review isn't a set in stone grade, it's subjective, and if they reviewer had a particularly hard time with the review, or just doesn't "get" the genre, then this can affect the score.

See the Dynasty Warriors series, depending on the reviewer it'll either be a 8 or a 9/10 for another great button masher, or a 3 or 4/10 for yet another dull button masher.

5 is mediocre, that's all.

If 5 really meant the game barely works, why would you need 4 grades below it? To measure just how badly it's broken?

I think you need to reassess your own scoring, and perhaps stop reading reviews that call 7/10 bad.

Why bother?

Why not find some reclusive ass shots from characters we may never have heard of, or only barely mention anymore.

Why not Fiona from Haunting Ground, Ellen from Folklore, Cate Archer from No One Lives Forever?
