He seems to be paid to either talk complete rubbish, or make light of completely obvious issues.
I think it was because it was just something new. It turned out a hell of a lot better than some of Activision's latest mediocrities (PROTOTYPE, Spiderman: WoS), it also wasn't advertised properly.
I don't know why Schafer hates it being called an RTS, it's a pretty good one for a console RTS.
If it didn't happen last year, what makes you think it'll happen in another odd-numbered year?
It was bad programming on some moron's part, treating every even year as a leap year. We didn't see the issue before because the PS3 was released after February in 2006 and 2008 was a leap year, so too is 2012.
The next time we see this issue will be 2016. And you have to wonder if SONY will spend the money to get it fixed. Seeing as the PS4 will most-likely be out by then,...
Good luck to them, I'm not sure the average WoW Zombie would notice.
If anybody knows what a d!ck "We don't want Brutal Legend, oh wait you might make money from it, we want some" activision can be, it's him.
You have to consider the Engine used. UE3's been amazing for developers and games, but it does have a graphical limit.
I think Alan Wake will be a better demonstration of the 360's power than any other game so far, until maybe (big maybe) Halo Reach. Since it's entirely exclusive, and you have a well known, respected developer behind it.
I hope IW gets through this, I'm not a fan of their games, but somebody that makes a billion dollars deservers to be treated better.
Be it exclusive to PC, 360, or PS3, only when a developer can afford to concentrate on the one system can they make it shine.
Sadly, I fear even PC games are starting to suffer because their assets are designed primarily to suit the consoles (meaning lower resolution textures), with other techniques to make it look better on PC (extensive use of shaders).
It's a great way to develop a multi-platform game, but they do suffer (see Bad Company 2 PC vs 360 vs PS3 shots p...
Yeah, I think waiting and seeing is the best solution.
I think it may probably work, because Fallout 3 and the GOTY edition are two different editions on PS3 (the 360 GOTY version was just F3, then another disk to install all the DLC, like the PC).
The trophies were working before the glitch, and completing a quest on the trophy list didn't award a trophy during the glitch (which is why I saved before completing it).
I'm confident it should be ok, since ...
The damage for me was minimal, I don't know about everybody else, but most of my games still worked, I could use the internet and iplayer, play dvd's and bluray, listen to music.
Though if I've lost the potential to carry on getting trophies in fallout 3 because it would require starting a new game (I played and saved it last night), then I'll be annoyed.
A free cheap game, couple of £ worth of credit wouldn't be unappreciated, should SONY decide that's the way ...
I still have trouble believing some idiot working on the internal timer though that treating every even year as a leap year was a good idea. It's very low level stuff which means s/he couldn't have been an idiot, but thought they'd probably get around to fixing it "soon".
It isn't difficult calculating a leap year, it's one of the first things you need to look out for as a possible exploit when working with dates.
I was fortunate to play the game non-stop over the weekend. If you havn't played it yet, you're in for a treat.
My EEOTY (Emotional Experience Of The Year), at least :)
Most of my games were working yesterday, so I played Fallout 3 GOTY edition.
I made a point to save before earning any trophies (completing a mission for example), so I could carry on playing, then just reload the save when it was fixed.
The problem is though is that I know most games that had been patched for trophies required restarting a new game to "activate". Anybody else know if this will be true? If that is the case, how would other games that shippe...
It's the PSP version.
Demos that last a while don't make sales.
You must have pretty low standards if you think Story, Graphics and Sound make for a GOTY contender.
Gameplay not that important to you?
I'd love to buy the game, but buying it is telling SEGA you support their actions in culling content.
Buying if for the sake of being able to buy another game later is short-sighted. I think I'd feel better about it if we heard the final say from the developers.
Are they implying some media douchebags will go ape if they spot a game that contains some scenes of implied sexual relationships?
I never thought SEGA were that big a pussies - they weren't when Yakuza 2 was released.
I'm glad that in the UK we're getting all the current DLC included for free.
But to rip stuff out makes me wonder if SEGA have more DLC for us in store - stuff we'll have to pay for.
Yakuza's already a fairly niche game everywhere but Japan. Somebody in marketing has to be a complete moron to announce this a couple of weeks away from release.
Since all copies in the UK will be premium copies, I think I'll leave it 6 months to see how SEAG support it.
regardless of how good a game it turns out to be.
Somebody's already pointed out it's already sold over 2million in Japan. Let's say the cost per game was $50, that's $100m dollars already. As long as it exceeds the development/marketing cost, it won't fail.
