As far as I know, Moon Studios publicly stated they have no interest in being bought (as of now). I think MDHR has done the same.
-"Sure, it offers extra funding to the studios in question but their autonomy is gone, they have overlords that will direct them."
Independent developers still face this if they have any publisher's backing, so this appeal applies to self-funded devs (which isn't the norm). But I acknowledge there is a track record for those devs to consider.
Indeed. And according to a prominent Xbox insider they've been shoring up a lot since the acquisition.

So I'm with you. Really interested to see how they handle that transition to a smaller AAA studio vs. indie/AA of the past. They've got a greater amount of tools and opportunity.
You're fooling yourself when you bring up words like "remain apolitical" in this context. Even before the birth of N4G, there have been numerous games with political themes, sometimes outright propaganda. I still remember playing an America's Army entry on the OG Xbox, and that series is a military FPS with funding support from the US Army. I've seen a plethora of unique users on here spout similar praises of the Metal Gear Solid and how that got them more invested in...
Appreciate the comment, gniosdb. While I'm more open to such experiences, I'm not one to shirk away from breezier titles that are fully interested in engaging me on mechanical depth. Games have several roles to play, it just depends on how well the execute said role. On that front, it is interesting to see FC5 brought up. I did consider quickly referencing it in the blog, but I couldn't give my own definitive opinion since I haven't played it. Though several critics I fol...
Solid review that makes me interested to finally dive into it soon.
"State of Decay 2 is not going to decay any time soon."
Moreso in the other direction it seems, thanks to the Heartland update. This is another--unfortunate--case of how the 1.0 version didn't have the punch it ought to, but the team has still dug in their heels to incorporate a richer, fuller experience that solidifies SoD2 and a true-blue sequel. Again, a shame from wh...
Phew...good thing I was able to correct my errors before the blog left pending. ;)
Hope everyone enjoyed the blog. Feel free to leave any comments (praise or criticism) down below, especially if there's disagreement. Hoping to fire out some overdue reviews in the future too.
It's true, it never made it to Xbox. I was just bringing that one up in relation to seeing The Jedi Council in action--regardless of platform.
-"Then they should have made a game people want to go out a buy."
But that's already implicitly understood in my hypothetical scenario. The issue isn't they didn't do that, the failing is in meeting the exacerbated financial threshold now necessary b/c they doubled down on the project. Seriously considering this chain as just casual baiting for the sake of responses.
Ah I gotcha. You just threw me off with "some of..." in the first comment.
Yeah, Obi-Wan would've been a nice blast from the past. Wasn't all too great but I liked how this and Jedi Power Battles gave us a small taste of Masters on the Jedi Council pulling their own weight.
The majority of OG Xbox Star Wars have been BC for about a year now. :P
This is such a myopic mindset as to have about a game's intrinsic value. What about those who dig themselves into a hole to make said experience incredible but mismanaged money so badly that they couldn't break even afterwards?

Indeed. And this gets even more pernicious when considering how Fig handles it's crowdfunding. There literally is language present in its marketing spiel that gives the false sense of certain-caliber donors BEING investors, with a potential rate of return. As much I dig Schafer's persona, there's some questionable conduct with Fig's setup.
I mean...I understand how head-scratching the situation is, but it's important to read the fine print when you're crowdfunding stuff--especially when that was crowdfunded on Fig. That has it's own set of complexities from something more simple like indiegogo & Kickstarter. And I'm pretty sure Double Fine was explicit in stating the crowdfunding was to be utilized as a leg-up to court a publisher. Then said publisher, Starbreeze, has to back out from that due to financia...
Careful not to inflate his ego too much. ;)
If her gun fires out bullet-sized fists can it still count?
-"Working on the game before the acquisition is besides the point."
Oh no it's not. The ENTIRE premise of what popular sensationalists have stated rests their claim on MS coming in and poisoning Ninja Theory's previous record of SP-focused games (although they also have MP stuff under their belt before to stay afloat). The fact that such a project has been deep in development before MS ever came with an offer would render such claims invalid unless new i...
That's the initial impression I got. People have been clamoring for a new Power Stone game for AGES and now that's spat upon here.
True, but they also have a weird working situation too. There's the worry of going 1st party would disrupt their satellite studio idea.
