"As the games got more popular, and started reaching out to more platforms, the quality started to decline, even though sales were higher than ever."
I'm not sure whether or not you're aiming at "consoles ruining hardcore series", but I don't think your statement I quoted seems to be the case. CoD4 was the ultimate turning point for the series getting more popular than Halo, and I doubt you'll find the majority say Call of Duty is better...
Did that when my friend came up to play it :D.
It didn't fare too well financially on the 360. PC is always going to be Metro's main fan-base.
I disagree with that statement. CoD4's story is certainly memorable, as well as the other CoD stories imo. Those stories being good-or great-is subjective to the player.
Why would anyone not anticipate UC3 is going to be receiving the PSN Pass treatment?
I don't like when someone places it up against "the holy grail of games to most". People don't seem to consider that OoT has aged so well BECAUSE games, including later Legend of Zelda releases, are using that same formula it created.
Either Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask are considered the best by most for creating experiences that created new foundations.
Unless Skyward Sword actually creates a fairly new foundation for adventure/ super-li...
They've been working together for the past decade, just not in regards to consoles. They used Sony's Vaio (computer brand) as their computers for Windows 7 commericials. I'm pretty sure they are very friendly to each other outside of the gaming realm.
I'd also like to point out that getting a rotten rating does not instantly = a bad game. In certain cases, such as Velvet Assassin, I can find the game to be an enjoyable adventure, but it's a game that I can have faith in even the hardcore fans of the genre enjoying.
I DO recommend trying out Velvet Assassin, but I DON'T believe all hardcore stealth fans will have as much of a great time as I did; thus giving it the *RotteN* rating.
Much abliged, sir. I think I have MAG pegged for my next review (disagreeable score for that incoming) and then I shall focus on games from PS3/360's "HD History".
Since I started grabbing PS3's and 360's earlier exclusives, I'll post my thoughts on how those games panned out for their time.
PS3: Resistance: FoM to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, with a few games in between.
360: Kameo to Gears of War, w...
There's no way anyone can expect number 1 to happen. Certainly would be awesome but that's asking for the impossible imo.
Hope everyone enjoyed the review. Just to note, German developer Replay Studios should be respected for their stern view on Nazi Germany throughout the game. Maybe some people in Hollywood could learn a thing or two between the honest view versus the neo-patriotic view of certain wars.
Edit: To clarify the "neo-patriotic view" part, I distinctly remember "The Patriot" showing the British in a terribly untrue light during the Revolutionary War.
Haha Love the pool noodle North is holding. I wonder what scene that will be in the game.
^Child of Eden is on a different level than Ape Escape when it comes to visual appeal. Seems like critics find Child of Eden to be more of an "experience" rather than a game, like some other notable titles-both downloadable and retail.
Fear not, Child of Eden is coming to PS3 soon so you won't have to slant it for too long.
"...and this one looks better than La Noire could hope to be."
Not exactly a fair comparison since LA Noire's an open world game. The gameplay mechanics between the two are completely different.
"Conviction was such a slap in the face for fans of Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory."
I disagree with that statement. Chaos Theory is one of my favorite games, but I found Conviction's style to be a great breath of fresh air. While the emphasis on gunplay was overly abundant in Conviction, the interrogation scenes, the myriad of ways to pounce on your enemies, fast pace of the stealth gameplay overall helped drive Conviction to be a better game than Double...
Pretty much all the main iteration's Splinter Cell MP's are played by many others. PT, CT, DA, and Conviction all have different aspects to them. I could find a game of Double Agent (360) in about a minute; I'm not exactly sure about Conviction since I haven't played that in a while.
A little immature, but okay. Funny if you're using stealth sarcasm to go with the article :P.
Ahh....I forgot that part. I edited to "main character" instead of including "every single character".
What he/she said. To be specific, it's a Kinect Fun Labs exclusive.
