Funny you should mention that because looking at the quotes for the choices shows GI's Dan Ryckert kept getting pummeled with terrible games this year. If he's still standing, he must be an even greater bullet sponge then the Devil's Hand bandits. :P
I would point out just how flawed this gift-giving approach is b/c another part of Festivus involves randomly giving select gifts to strangers via a lottery system but it's still Christmas-y time so I'm not gonna. ^^
I'll just tuck this complaint away until I publicly air my grievances with you come next Dec. 22. [o_o]~
Remedy seems to have a penchant for weird timing when it comes to Alan Wake. XD
That's definitely a great treat though. Would be cool if they tried some Alan Wake 'Special Season One' pyshcial copy that included everything (or almost everything) that's made for the ip thus far for 360 + PC.
I must admit that I had you pegged for picking an SMG title for your number 1 for some reason. In any case, I'd say this is a solid choice. When it comes to Metal Gear (Solid) series as a whole, it's one of those I'd like to try and play each one to finally come up with a decision as to which one would be my favorite--even the MSX's Metal Gears, since it always seems to be a toss-up between choices with all the Solids.
Or if you're sick and twisted enough, it's the kind where you can laugh at the methods Eutechnyx intends to torture you with.
No? That's still just me? :P
I wouldn't score Spec Ops that much higher than its meta-average (I genuinely can't look past some gameplay frustrations), but hot dog..what a story that kept me surprised.
I haven't played SOTD or Binary Domain, but I agree with Folklore too. I guess I'll add Alan Wake to mine and maybe Contrast (but I'm not sure if that counts with it being 'cross-gen' and all).
Well to consider the series changes to be a complete 180 sounds pretty drastic, but I get what you're asking. Looking at it in hindsight, ME was ambitious to fault in regards to what it was trying to accomplish so it doesn't reek of corporate control to see Bioware (on their own) look at every criticism stated about the first one and wanting to completely alter them if they didn't see fit to keep that extra baggage for their development window.
When looking at wh...
A pretty good list that I don't have much to gripe over. Mass Effect is definitely my 2007 GOTY as well. The only thing that does annoy me is...
"Note: Mass Effect 2 was pure trash. As mentioned above, EA destroyed this game by stripping out everything that made ME1 great."
It's still amazing to see this kind of accusation leveled against a publisher (ie the people who didn't develop the game). And I respectfully disagree about ME2 be...
It was so funny to see him that pissed off.
"It was Destructoid’s Jim Sterling who summed up Ride to Hell perfectly – 'Rather than unfinished, I’d suggest the game feels barely started'."
Indeed, that's spot on.
"Maybe someone who’s completely new to video games would enjoy it; maybe they wouldn’t even notice that it’s a bad game."
I certainly like seeing opinions that may be wildly different from mine, but for Pete's sake this kind of stuff (in quote above) is just annoying to see.
Surprised not to see Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing.
It's one of those rare "sum of its parts" kind of titles that does such a good job across so many facets (artistic/techincal design, all sound components, great gunplay, a graphics engine that felt as if it enhanced gameplay, I could go on and on), but didn't really capture the feeling of being whole from both the lazy story and no gameplay idea that completely felt like its own 'widget' that truly defined RAGE as RAGE (if that makes any sense).

I'll take care of it.
Maybe Jimmy Two Times decided to write a review. (I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers.) :P
"It will no doubt be remembered years from now as an early generation fail, the PlayStation 4′s very own Perfect Dark Zero."
I had a great time with PDZ so that doesn't sound too bad.
"Religion for man kinds history being obsessed with religion has caused wars, violence and much more (e.g. Nazi extermination of jews)"
When it comes to the parenthetical part I edited in the above quote, I recommend you look that Nazi part up again if you believe religion to be the core cause behind that.
"What makes it worse is that the BioShock Infinite used that kind of imagery to make exactly the opposite point compared to the group’s ideas."
That's the kicker to this whole thing. Surprised to see they'd just take such a picture without even bothering to understand the context it's placed in.
I'd contend that the first Killzone actually delivered in the story/writing regard. It actually bothered peppering in some good back-and-forth between the different playable characters, the pacing of the narrative bits between Vekta and the space station gave a legitimate sense of urgency throughout, and the writing held up rather well.
I'd recommend you look a bit more closely at reviews if you think the result of a low 70's critical average is the result of j...
I'm tempted to do the same now.
**SPOILER WARNING**
I can agree that Gears 2 campaign had many more cool ideas presented: the setup of burrowing into Locust hive, the GIIIANNTTT WORMM, razor hail, the idea of human researchers creating their own beasts, the panoply of different gameplay mechanics being used, and more memorable moments. At the same time, 3's seemed a bit more consistent to me: didn't have that disappointing boss fight like Skorge or any terrible melodrama moments.

Oh yeah? I'll give $26! o_O
