At this rate, any talks of PS4 sales will have to consider the pallet n4g's purchased. :P

"Anyway, congrats to coolbea-... Wait... LostDjinn is after my booty now ;_;"
Didn't even see this until after my first comment. *gulp* Have room for two in the couch pillow fortress?
@Konsoru
Didn't really intend for it to translate exactly like that. When it came to the Wii-U announcement and their marketing team, there was definitely a bigger focus on that audience around that time. Of course, still hitting both ends of the spectrum, but the first showing definitely displayed a heightened focus on that crowd.
But the joke was stale to begin with and this is just making it worse. :P
"they want anyone - from a 4 year old kid to a grandmother in her 70s - to be able to play with others online in a "clean" environment."
Makes you wonder why they targeted the hardcore market in the first place. :P
Glad you enjoyed the blog, o' humble judgy judges. Funny that one would be brought up since it wasn't too long after submitting that blog my optimism on the scoring aspect was marginally shot down after a poster who's done some reviewing for certain sites gave some insight about his experiences.
I don't want to just take the gift and run, though. As the saying goes: it's always better to give than receive. So, I got something for a Mr. LostDjinn.
*Cough* Don't forget the PAX HD contest too. *Cough*

-"Wanting diversity is all well and good if it can be proven to improve the medium."
1.) How is it possible to graph whether or not if it has/hasn't improved the medium? By your own arbitrary determinations?
2.) Does that mean diversity is...not "all well and good" if that's not able to be proven?
-"...leads to the kinds of problems we are starting to see where developers get to be made to fee...
@DK
-"And absolutely none give objective reasons why diversity is needed, just that it would be nice."
Well...what I quoted in your previous comment initially mentioned "actual reasons," which gave me the idea they decided not to respond to you. I didn't translate that into meaning "objective," which is really just starting to mean "I just don't agree to that" reasons.
-"Even you yourself ...
Taking on PM postman role again. This agonism poster PM'd me and wanted to add this:
"None of this to say that all games or media are created equally regardless of their 'country' of origin. And sure, you can observe or even polarize with others, fine, but even as someone such as myself who's critical of identity politics that preclude a class analysis or seek integration into hierarchical relations only to have their relations to themselves and others m...
Speaking as a HUGE fan of the two main 6th gen Brothers in Arms, I honestly couldn't finish Hell's Highway. Been meaning to jump back into it though.
Did anyone else find the online component to also be atrocious? I felt so unpolished, laggy, etc. that I couldn't bear it after a while.

"I mean take a look at any discussion about diversity and then ask the author why they think it would improve the medium. They will never be able to give you an answer that isn't subjective. Objectively, improvements to the medium have nothing to do with the character's gender or race."
Wouldn't something as subjective as determining diversity within the medium be met with anything other than subjective reasoning? Even in the veil...
@DK
"What I'm saying is that no one ever comes up with an actual reason as to why this alleged diversity is necessary for gaming as a medium or shows how it would improve it."
You'll have to forgive me if I think you're really not that willing to find anyone actually presents reasons, given that it's not that tough to find others arguing for it. Looking at it from wide-eyed perspective, I can see a lot of others seeing gaming as a b...

"If games are art, they aren't subject to the whims and desires of special interest groups. In fact they'd probably be more immune. Games as art are an expression of the artists and should be taken as such. None have the right to try and force the artist to conform to what they think is needed or acceptable in art."
Depending on which instances this is taking place, I figure you'd align with the very people you're speaking agains...
You mean that one sentence in my last paragraph? That's a bit of a confusion on my part in what's intended is that over-arching problem I put in the quote marks for pro-censorship stance in the beginning.
Oh okay. I was a bit worried when typing that part up and how to glue the right sorts of phrases to keep the blog going.
"...but when Breivik uses the game to explain his acts, what is happening?
Is he trying to deflect blame onto the game? Is he trying to convince himself (or others) that it wasn't just him, that he somehow had to have motivation? What is his motivation to do so?"
Definitely some interesting questions here. I...
"Good blog and I fully understand where you are coming from, however, this isn't something that is "debatable." It isn't up to "popular" or "public" opinion.
The FACT is that peer reviewed scientific research has shown time and again that violent media does NOT produce violent individuals. "
Though I thank you for the compliment, I'm not exactly sure how to respond to this section. Is this because of the &...
Interesting blog.
"Maybe that’s simply because the game is theirs to do with as they please. Those like Rockstar and Suda 51‘s team have sure cared little about the controversial stories they’ve told."
I can't exactly speak for all of those developer's stories, but I wouldn't say that's always the case. For cases like GTA IV, that seemed to one of those cases where its story with controversial elements is intended to be a satire. ...
*Sigh*...yes, sneaking one in before closing out March. Sue me. [o_o]~
Hope everyone enjoyed the blog. Feel free to leave any comments and/or questions below.
"Perfect Dark Zero was clearly focus-grouped up to its neckhole. The Blade Runner-inspired tone of the original dispelled for day-glo Saturday Morning Cartoon misery."
That doesn't really strike me as being 'obviously focus-tested,' especially when considering the wealth of grey shooters the market's been clamoring over for around a decade. From start to finish, that sort of colorful campiness seemed to be what the developers were going for.
