You know...I can't remember ever thinking about putting pictures in my blogs/reviews here. Seen it in a few others here recently but always figured to just go with text. I think that's rather drastic. I'll admit I've heard some suspicious tales about the bribing aspect, even some companies paying off reviewers to help LOWER the metascore in order to avoid giving the devs bonuses (something I'm wondering happened with Fallout: NV). But to suggest it's just this overwhelming majority of drones being feed by gaming corporate to give a score just seems too radical. Now that I've finished TLOU, I'd definitely like to do another round of back-to-back reviews of titles by one developer in the near future, like I did with Bioware and the ME series. Since I have a functional PS3 again, those reviews will certainly be mixed in more often.

Yes, all of the franchises you mentioned were published by Microsoft. I'm not sure what's with this goalpost-moving from other users now.
I've heard some great things about Lost Odyssey.
Beyond 7th-gen titles, they were behind publishing some decent (at least) narrative-driven games for Original Xbox too.

5/5 here doesn't mean it's a perfect game, but that the reviewer loved playing Titanfall.

Using every score between 0-100 like school papers doesn't mean sites also have to follow the school system's determination of what is/isn't a "failure." Whatever a score less than 60/100 translates to is up to the site's rating system they have in place.
Oftentimes, stuff like 5's constitute mediocrity or 'middle of the road' when it comes to having equal good and bad qualities.
Personally, I've always liked doing that since it's akin to grading papers. For a game with a high 8's score, it can translate to me saying "this is what I call a very great game, yet still short of being considered exemplary for these reasons."
Maybe that's a similar rationale with IGN here.

I can certainly understand the frustration from the sort of hate that gets thrown around (which I'll admit to failing to see and deal with it on some occasions). I'll certainly try harder on my end.

Thanks, steven. As it currently stands, this actually is the highest word count I've managed for a review (which is really saying something :P).
Don't let the score fool you, I can admit to having a pretty fun time with it as well (of course, playing online with friends is almost always fun). It's just that I really only had a above-average amount of fun. I moderately enjoyed the campaign, had a bit more fun in competitive MP, and the least fun with cooperative...
Same here. SSX Tricky is quite possibly the best snowboarding game I'd ever played.
Really tempted to see if the SSX reboot is any good.
