Have you played doom 64? It sounds right up your alley tbh. If you dig around you can find it modded for PC. The lighting and sound design is full on horror game and the gameplay is classic doom.

It's like the missing link between doom 1-2 and doom 3.

What did you like about Doom 3?

I like it alright but its def the weakest for me in most aspects.

I think the cash system is a good way to negate the feeling of "wow i just wasted my time" whenever you lose in a BR game.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on Lawbreakers since both it and OW were in development at once, but this game is so creatively bankrupt. Take away the vaporwave aesthetic and what do you have?

I dont know how much cliff has to do with this game, but both it and lawbreakers lack his touch. Gears, Unreal and Jazz jackrabbit had their inspirations but never felt derivative. Idk how to describe his game feel - its "crunchy" if that makes sense. Law...

It sucks because Sunset Overdrive is one of the only MS exclusives that felt like a complete game at launch. I'd say its the most underplayed XO game right now for how good it is.

@Bathyj

Because the general consumer doesn't know/care what games a developer makes. If you ask most PS4 owners who Naughty Dog is (ie not on N4G), they probably wouldn't know.

I think if you combine this with the Wii U sales it probably is over a million...

Nintendo already greenlit Bayo 3 so evidently they were pleased with the performance of the game on Wii U and anything it sells on Switch is just the cherry on top.

DKCTF also launched on the Wii U for 49.99 back in 2014. You're paying 10 bucks more for Funky Kong lol

The quests dont reset when you die though. Its basically 30 seconds and a jog back to where you died. The only situation where you start all over is a sunken ship, which pretty much only happens in PvP.

For PvP it is important because then when you board a ship you wont just get overrun by people you killed respawning because they bribed the ferryman. PC players already have a bit of an advantage due to load times being shorter.

I think the time you spend...

Ive gotten a good 30 hours so far, more than i get out of most games.

Now that the word has gotten out about the forts things are really getting intense.

I agree, i think SoT offers a multiplayer experience that is more or less all its own. The paranoia you feel when delivering stronghold loot is unmatched, and not for everyone. Me and a buddy in a sloop outsmarted a galleon while battling skeletons at a fort at the same time, then they managed to make off with the stornghold loot with us tailing them, only for the kraken to drag them down.

I like the way the game doesn't tell you anything - every ship i join has some kn...

I think a big part of why xbox games have been coming up short is the "everything on windows" push of 2016. These games all had to have surprise PC port and you know that ate up resources. I don't wanna put too much blame on Rare without knowing the full story here - after all, it was Microsoft that's been running them into the ground more or less since the 360 launch.

Conker L&R - MS never approved a sequel but did approve a censored (for no reason) r...

I think a big part of why Xbox games are coming up short is the fact that all these games were announced in 2014/2015 and the "everything on windows 10" initiative started in 2016. So all these games had to have surprise PC ports within a short timeframe. So resources for more content (SoT), more polish (Recore), and actually coming out (Scalebound) were forced into whipping up decent PC ports to launch simultaneously.

In the case of Scalebound MS demanded co-op m...

Same, i havent really used a mic since the 360 days on L4D. The way this game doesnt tell you much also allows this aura of mystery about things. Every ship i go on i learn something new aboug how to beat certain skeletons, what the different color fort skulls mean, etc. Legends about killing the kraken 3 times and stuff. Its one of the most interesting aspects of the game.

^ What do you mean? There are systems to level up the 3 trader classes to unlock better quests and eventually become a legendary pirate. How is that not progression.

The game only lets you buy cosmetic items, but how annoying would it be for grindier players to have a advantage.

I think a big part of such an online intensive game is the people you play with and the interactions you have.

Like i sailed a solo sloop over to a fort that had a galleon there and asked them if i could join their crew, they wouldnt let me and were vocally planning about raiding my sloop, so i hid till the fort vault was open and hid some of the more valuable stuff and let my ship drift away, then went back later and got the stuff i hid. It felt really satisfying and ive ...

FWIW im really enjoying the game. I really like the higher level quests and strongholds are really fun. Cant wait to see what they''ll add.

Kind of reminds me of splatoon 1: strong foundation and sparse content. I just hope this game gets the kind of post-launch support that game got!

If you sort "new" posts on the SoT reddit you can generally see when things start working again. In my experience, once youre in a game you wont be kicked out due to any issues. Its just getting in thats difficult.
