Recore is actually pretty good after a year of patches + some content. Weirdly middle market game that reminds me of the 6th gen.
Its evident that MS rushed the game after throwing a pc port on top, a lot for a small team to handle.
And they have Atlus
I think crackdown 1 is kind of ahead of its time with its open-endedness.
It's reminiscent of BOTW in that way.
They were ready to move on from the OG Xbox because they entered a one-sided contract with Nvidia that basically ensured they would never make a single dollar on the console.
Still love the Xbox and its pretty impressive that they outsold the GC.
The Xbox 360 may not have sold the most but i would say its undeniable that it was the primary influence of that gen, between the big indie embrace and features like party chat. Also the fun but underpowered approach by Nintendo and the custom hardware of Sony failed in comparison to the 360's straightforward design.
I do think Platinum's games have more longevity. The way different difficulty modes have different enemies to fight and all the unlockable weapons and costumes and the accessories that can completely change the way you play the game - its insane.
I think a lot of their games are cheap cash grabs, but its easy to tell them from the rest of their games which clearly have a lot of love in them.
I guess what im trying to say is, ive never been disappointed by a Platinum game.
WELL, Star Fox Zero was pretty bad but honestly i chalk that up to Nintendo. You know that wasn't the game P* wanted to make and the forced gimmickry by Miyamoto really brought that game down.
Imo, better than Bayonetta 2. The final boss actually holds up against Bayonetta 1's.
"worst in the series" in the Panzer Dragoon series still means its a great game.
Honestly Conker looks pretty damn good, albeit with some outdated animations
Orta is great, vastly underplayed and underappreciated. It's one of those games that im sure if it came to the Dreamcast everyone would be raving about, but since it ended up as an xbox exclusive it is lost to obscurity.
I think Zwei is my favorite but i'd play Orta over the first

IMO Bioshock 1 > Miverva's Den > Bioshock 2 > Burial at sea > Infinite
Even detractors of Bioshock 2 have to admit that the gameplay opportunities and level structure (designed by some ex-Looking Glass guys) are the peak of the series and Minerva's Den proves that the same team can make a solid story.
Splatoon was very successful with its content drip system, imo.
Honestly it sounds like Rare is hearing the feedback on the forums and reddit and theyve come up with a tailored content map. Ive put a lot of time in the game and really only the forts excite me anymore. I think i'll lay off the grind because more fun ways to progress/make loot sound like theyre on the way.

This is a very different gaming landscape than 2003 when GX came out though. If they made a feature-full, fresh, exciting F Zero on a successful console like Switch and pushed it hard in Directs, people would get it in droves.
Look at how niche series like Xenoblade or Fire Emblem have grown over the years as they were talked about more and more.
It should be kind of a given to outsell xbox in japan by a large margin.

I never have a hard time finding a game on Xbox no matter how old or obscure the game is. You can look up player counts for a lot of games and while there's more people on ps4 there's still plenty on the xbox one version. It's pretty evident you dont play on the platform and are just assuming player counts because of console sales.

Honestly its less about collecting it and more about defending it. As soon as someone knows what you have they will chase you til the end of the world for it.
