The reason this would be significant is because sony has historically taken a loss on every console at launch, ps1 ps2 and ps3. The ps3 cost $800 dollars to manufacture and sold for 600. The original xbox was a powerhouse and sold at a big loss, the 360 also lost a ton of money for every console sold. They make money back on software sales and when the console starts selling for a profit.

i agree that they might have to buy some 3rd party support but what does the seal of quality have to do with anything?
from a financial perspective iwata is the most lucrative CEO in gaming history, but the fan's faith in him has waned since the wii. as fans we shouldnt focus on his financial strides (that's nintendo's job) but his shortcomings when it comes to delivering what WE want.
in my opinion he's starting to get on the right track, and i think he can deliver an excellent console with wii u but i'd like to see him relegated to the handheld division or return to producing gam...
im glad nintendo doesn't just make a black box that plays the same stuff as everything else with the odd exclusive, but some of the choices they make regarding stuff like region locking, refusing to discount their damn games years after they came out, and the generally slow pace they're doing everything on the wii u right now is rather frustrating. in other words, i like the wii u, i just don't like the way nintendo's treating it.

ive said it a million times, but killing the wii u would put their future in much more danger than supporting it. it would destroy their image, and consumer loyalty. I, as a wii u owner, would NOT buy another nintendo system if nintendo showed no faith in the one i bought less than a year ago. even if they did release it, by the time it was conceptualized everyone would be happy with their ps4's and xbox one's.

no, dlc "options" dont total 40 bucks, they total more than that. or you can buy the full game for 40 bucks.

it works because comptetitive fighter players only ever main like 2 or 3 fighters, so they can get the players they want for much cheaper. then people who want the full game can get it at a discount.
To be fair to killer instinct, its clearly a budget title selling for 39.99, i wouldnt expect 1080p. But i hope 1080p graphics become the norm like 720p was last gen.
One day 1080p will be antiquated and i hope these consoles can push further than that, though they'll probably have to stick around this resolution as pcs get stronger 3-4 years from now.
I understand why the 3ds outsells it, im just surprised the vita doesnt have more of a niche in such a handheld-centric market. Like the psp did.
Its kind of like the gamecube or dreamcast the way it has such a small user base but the software sales are through the roof.

Lol i STILL dont get why zombi u wasnt profittable. It sold 600,000 copies, thats pretty good for a launch title. The game was >10 hours long, graphics were meh, no online features. Where did the budget go on this game?

i think nintendo really should focus some on that front. for franchises like f zero or star fox which they fear wouldnt be financially viable, they could release a budget title on the eshop for like 20 bucks.

honestly every action game ive played since bayonetta has disappointed me. god of war 3 was too short and wasnt quite as deep, dmc was just a bad action game period (no lock on -_- really), metal gear rising was also not deep enough.
the wonderful 101 will satiate you though, as deafdani said. its a deep, complex combat game in its own way.
considering nintendo is funding the game completely, even if it does terrible platinum wont be taking the hit.
they just need to spend some money to get exclusives if they have to. stuff like rogue squadron 2, eternal darkness, resi remake, geist and a viewtiful joe (for a while) during the gamecube era come to mind.
theyre on the right track with sonic lost world, smt x fe, bayonetta 2, wonderful 101, and the other 2 games in that deal with sega all coming out by 2014 (hopefully).
