Im not saying you're wrong cause your not. What im saying is that the score should be representative to how the writer felt. Not only in just the score, but those points should be addressed in the written review. Scoring low does not constitute a bad game. Scoring high does not constitute a good game. Score should be placed upon the lows and highs the user experienced, not what others think he or she should score it. The review itself should come into context no matter how a scale is assi...

Its true a reviewer should be subjective, but lets face it, every review is entirely based on pure opinion depending on the user. Look at 10 out 10 reviews, they were scored high because the review received immense enjoyment out of the title. They also scored on technical merit, but other than that it was scored high due to how great of an experience it was. High quality is not inductive of a perfect product such as a 10. High quality, technically sound games could still be immensely boring a...

the way i see it is that not everyone is going to like the game. the guy was honest with what he thought, that doesn't make him a troll. i mean, are you only allowed to review a game if the score agrees with the rest?

hes no more a troll than any other 10 out 10 saying "omg, best game ever!." ive read multiple reviews that flat out praised the game without any sort of critical explanation other than, "its awesome." of course reviews like that wont rece...

that virtual rat suffered. he should have been given more humane treatment.

Very lame article indeed. Who says what someones opinion should and shouldn't be? If you dont agree then just respect the opinions of the reviewer and move on. Guy has just as much credibility as the any other reviewer. Just because you dont agree doesn't mean he loses credibility. You should be able to understand what the reviewer did and did not like and relate that to your own opinion or purchase. He does not have to score it with what you or others think is the "right score.&...

haha yah, I think this is true for a lot of the larger, well known publishers. I mean who really reads ign reviews? Those thrown together reviews aren't that informative and mostly people do just watch the videos.

A good game is a good game regardless of score.

Well true, I dont mean they are directly pointless in every single aspect. Yet, as a whole they are meaningless because there is no sort of set standard. What would be the difference if uncharted got a 4 or if it had received a 5 from that same article? Well none, because the difference is meaningless. Just as giving something a 10 or giving it a 9. Basically, its the same thing.

I do agree though as the only opinion i can get is from playing the game myself. Reviews are bec...

Thanks! Im glad you enjoyed the article, thanks for reading and taking time to reply. You're right about ign reviews as I barely consider them reviews at all. They tend to write more overviews than anything. To me, I never walk away from an ign review feeling like I can make an informed purchase. It doesn't take much time to sift through one of their reviews and get a grand generalization. They do a great job at it and they obviously have the large reader fanbase that enjoys it.

@cyclonus007

You are completely right. When purchasing used youre supporting the brick and mortar stores and not the devs themselves. Yet, blame is put on consumers for not buying enough copies and supporting them enough. Maybe we should blame some of the publishers for not supporting the consumer enough. Maybe things should be changed on the side of the publishers such as getting a better pricing model in place. Or maybe not dlc scamming every release to so that people want ...

im glad you take a different approach to the sporadic and random score method.

i read the review myself and thought it was well written. great review and great site.

exactly. if every single gamer pirated, the game industry would crash. there would be no exchange of money. buying used and pirating are 2 completely different things.

ah yes, i remember that article. the "used games are equal to piracy" debate. which they are clearly not.

I definitely agree with some of your points, yet what i dont like is that the online pass is not a countermeasure for used sales. it might be dropping the percentage a bit, but its not doing anything. its just another way to make profit basically like locking disc content and selling it as dlc. truth is any publisher who is using the pass model in single player, offline areas are destroying gaming more than the pass itself. forget longevity as that is basically going out the window. i know, a...

@p_bomb

true and i very much agree with what you have to say. yet i dont believe a low score implies a technically broken game. for me a low score implies the game is overall a weak package such as boring, repetitive, simplistic, etc with the review being a combination of all including technical issues. the reason i say that is because reviews never score a game on technical issues, they just get overlooked this gen. dead island, fallout, oblivion and many others all had majo...

nothing against uncharted, but i dont find it a top game this gen at all, that's just generally speaking. there are much better experiences than what you can find in uncharted. it offers little player interaction, to much hand holding, its linear, standard cover shooter, way to cinematic and its a one time game with over-repetition the second time around. someone could argue against those things and point out the great that it does, as how it should be.

im not nit picking...

yah, probably so. it was more open in bc2. still have to adjust to all the corridor shooting.

im sure many would. i would go the digital only route if it was less than a physical copy. for us console owners though thats from the truth. old games that can be picked up for 20 dollars or less get put on the store for full price or maybe 40. sort of defeats the purpose.

bf3 is a lot of fun and is extremely addicting. with that being said, it feels a little underwhelming as well. something about the maps dont feel right to me. i dont know what it is, but the map design just isn't up to par compared to previous battlefield game. feels to enclosed at times.

actually eurocom is the developer. i believe they made some previous bond games like nightfire. activision is just the publisher this time around.
