The difference is pretty immense. I was a actually pretty surprised to see that battlefield 3 had literally no destruction. I expected them to go all out with frostbite 2 and have a crazy amount of destruction, but it didn't.

Still feels weird that I can't blow up basic walls and structures in most areas of the maps. Fun game, just a little scaled back. New maps are great though. Feels more like battlefield on back to karkand than it does the original maps.

Yah true. Almost every faction/guild has the same basic structure of building back up. I dont mind that so much, but as you said, would be nice to have some flexibility in options. Maybe decide how you go about rebuilding the guild, who you can steal from, who you can attack, etc. Most of the time it results in the faction rising back up, killing "some guy" and taking "some loot". Thats the basic quest setup that is entangled through all of skyrim.

You sum...

I would have to agree to disagree. I prefer quality of quantity, but game length is almost always the deciding factor on new games. For those that have disposable income, its not much of a burden. I mean I'm not poor by any stretch, but I just can't bring myself to pay 64 for a game I will beat in one day.

The last time I made that mistake was with god of war 3. Im a huge fan of the series and it was an incredible experience, but I beat the game in 5 hours, which was ...

I have to say I sort of agree with what the article mentions. The biggest draw for me would most definitely be the exploration. Running around, doing whatever I want, has the most appeal to me. Anything outside of that just seems to lack depth of sorts. Its hard to pin point the root cause, but I realized that I dont really like skyrim all that much. After 65 hours I hit some sort of proverbial wall and I don't ever want to pick it up again. Combat isn't rewarding, fetch quests wear m...

Unless Demons Souls 2 starts with the letter "G", I don't think it will be happening.

Im not one to be included when you mention "we" and "us". Crash and Jak were great, but I don't like Uncharted. I find the series way to restrictive for me and just not very fun at all. I played Uncharted and Uncharted 2 and didn't like either of them. Great series for mainstream gaming, but I don't enjoy it in the least bit.

Its not about being let down though. I just can't claim something that I dont see. A trailer does not equal a game. ...

The Last of Us is most definitely being over hyped. Mainly because Naughty Dog is the at the helm of a new IP.

They are a great developer, but I have seen absolutely nothing in terms of a game yet. I've already seen comments such as "this game is absolutely brilliant", "wow, naughty dog has done it again" etc. Without seeing anything, but a trailer, I don't know how one could draw those conclusions.

Hopefully they pull away from th...

In terms of dev time, western studios seem to be much more efficient. Overall though, I feel like eastern companies make far superior games in terms of content, detail and longevity. Even though they take much longer, it just seems like a better product in the end, for the most part.

90% of people dont look at the manual because they put 0% effort. Yah, its the truth though, most people buy the game and just start playing. I always read the manual first. Even if it is 2 pages of emptiness. I grew up reading those in depth manuals from the ps1 days. Having no manual is just weird to me haha.

I really like the level design. Looks fun.

@CaveMan

Game looks brilliant? If you could link me to some gameplay that would be great. All I've seen is the trailer. I haven't got to see the actual game yet.

Yah, the first time I opened Mass Effect 2 and saw that single piece of paper, I was like....WHAT THE?? I thought it was a packaging error haha. I didn't know, at the time, they were switching over to that digital format. I think all EA games just have the paper slip with the code now. Im not sure who else does it yet.

Fallout 3 had an awesome game manual. More in depth and in line with previous gen manuals, explaining the story/concepts with some cool artwork.

Yah, I remember playing as raiden for the first time and I almost wanted to return my game haha. I was pretty mad that I had to play as him instead of snake. I didnt like that at all. Took a while for me to adjust to it. Kojima definitely trolled every single mgs fan at that time with the whole snake tanker level.

From what I've seen of Rising, I am pretty excited. Im more excited about Rising from the perspective of a Platinum games fan than a MGS fan though. I think the...

"some sources are saying we'll see it this generation rather than next"

Sounds like every rumor, but hey, im still keeping an open mind. Im a big fan of BGE and would definitely love to see a proper sequel. I wish ubi would give us some clarification already though. BGE2 has been lingering around for a long time now with no real info.

Most core gamers realize this. If the mainstream audience knew this, then yes, I can see that being a minor issue of sorts. Of course, most people on n4g realize these 5 things already.

In theory, if every consumer followed those rules the industry would be in trouble. Would never happen though.

That section about runescape had me cracking up. Reminded me of all the hours I spent as a kid doing those same tasks. Took me a while to break out of that game.

I actually wasn't that surprised to see mgs2 as the number one pick. Most people hated that game and character. Surprisingly, I like that game a lot, like way to much. I think raiden is a great character, but I only realized it after I played mgs4 and the whole scope of the series unfolded. Didn't like him at...

No manual? Aw man, that's a complete bummer and let down. It wont stop me from playing games or anything, but it makes the game feel less complete. Having the manual inside the case has been as much a part of gaming as actually playing the game itself. I have a feeling that all next gen games will have digital, on disc manuals.

I wouldnt go as far as to say the bugs barely hurt the game. My game (ps3) is absolutely crippled. Of course the framerate was one of the issues ive had to deal with. Not only that I keep getting a ton of broken quests. Heck, there is an entire city I can never step foot into again because I get attacked by every single guard due to a broken quest. I had a pretty epic house there to haha, but now I cant use it.

I am only speaking for myself though. Some people have not run in...

@megaman_nerd

Nothing wrong with the same stuff over and over. The number of games in a series is irrelevant if the quality is still there. Nintendo doesn't downscale their Ip's just to sell another one. If you look at the progression of their titles you'll understand why they're still here 25 years later. Its the same characters, but they constantly advance and evolve their games. Legend of zelda to skyward sword. Super mario bros to mario galaxy 2. Its more ...
