I never liked Phil from the start. He was there during the DRM fiasco, and is partially to blame for all the stupid decisions made by the Xbox division for well over a decade now.
I have to admit though, if you're Sony or Nintendo, Mattrick and Spencer have done a 'great job' secretly helping out.
Rushed development cycle. They crank these games out non stop. Endless crunch, no time for optimization when there's profit to be made from the money printing machine.
These days all you need is brand power to survive and make endless money. Game quality doesn't matter anymore in regards to profits. What a shame.
That was reported false by Digital Foundry. Still 30 FPS no matter what.
B.S. review. I've played the game for 9 hours on Switch and I'm having fun with it.
The game world looks nice, framerate and visuals are actually decent on Switch, there is lots of pop in for foliage and floating sky junk, but it doesn't affect game playability. The game is extremely easy even on 'Hard' difficulty. That's okay with me, not every game needs to be a serious challenge, but the missions in Frontiers does feel like 'baby's first o...
Kojima not being a sell out to some overbloated third party or Microsoft is the good news I needed to read today.
Looking forward to his next game.
Only Polygon would be stupid enough to think that "Konami is back."
They've proven jack squat in the past 7 years. The best game they've released since Phantom Pain was a mobile Picross game (which admittedly is very good if you're a Picross fan).
Konami is still unproven, don't go making claims about how they're good again until its been proven. These Silent Hill games could be may on a low budget, rushed out unpolished and incomplete...
That last line describes my feelings perfectly.
BUILD UP the industry, don't BUY OUT the industry. Two completely different things, one is good, one is bad.
Yes, but that requires actually giving a crap, which MS hasn't in a long time.
The first gen Xbox felt sincere by people who actually liked gaming. The first half of the Xbox 360 gen as well.
But somewhere along the way, all the original guys that I liked left MS, and the entire culture changed at the Xbox division. Fake promises with Kinect, and relying on third party games during the second half of the Xbox 360 gen.
The entire Xbox One gen ...
Remember, don't invest money into any free to play game. It'll just end up being a waste.
Exactly my thoughts. Tired of all the stuff that pads out game length in boring ways.
A lot of people are celebrating this news, which is understandable. However Google Stadia has a great exclusive game called GYLT, and if it doesn't get ported it will be lost to time.
I've beaten GYLT 5 times, and I'd like to play it again in the future, beyond January 2023. I can't believe a publisher would be stupid enough to make Stadia exclusive games.
Streaming is anti-game-preservation, which is partially why I don't like it. Tod...
Not happy about this, but also not surprised. Hopefully dev teams can put a little bit of effort into making their PSVR 1 games compatible with PSVR 2.
There's no talent left at Konami. The newest Contra game was trash, the newest Metal Gear game (which I admit to have played a lot of), was also crappy.
Why do you want them to make new games that will only further ruin their legacy? You're just going to end up complaining about it after release. A remaster is the best choice for the current-age Konami. Until the president of the company leaves and the entire culture at that company completely changes, new games are...
The Platinum Trophy for this game is going to be extremely rare. 🏆
If its anything similar to Origins and Odyssey, then there was never any hope in the first place.
I won't buy their games at any price because they're all filler, grindy, packed with micro-trash-actions, boring, repetitive, unimaginative slogfests.
For me, this isn't an issue about money, it's about time. Their games aren't worth my time spent playing them. The price increase means nothing to me because of that.
Ubisoft is on the same level of EA and Activison in terms of shittiness. There is nothing to be proud of, for yourself, your games, or your company as a whole. Ubisoft used to be amazing, but greed got the better of them, and they turned to crap.
Used to love their games, pre-order them, even! Now I just laugh at everything they announce, what a shame. I didn't have to be this way, but you've made your choices, and I've made mine.
You can take...
"Codename Red"
How fitting, a codename as interesting as the very games they make. Which is to say Ubisoft is stuck making filler grind games with nothing interesting to do in them.
Would have loved an AC Japan game when I was still a fan of the series, but after all the endless exp grinding, resource grinding, and skill tree grinding, piss off Ubisoft, you won't get my money.
Used to be the biggest fan of the series. Loved AC 1 up to AC III. After the Desmond arc ended, the series started to flounder in terms of story and lore. It was running in place, no one could decide which direction to go, so it went in multiple directions, but never ended up anyway.
But I still enjoyed AC IV up to Syndicate. After that however, the series became a grindfest slog. I beat Origins 100%, Odyssey main story, and didn't bother touching Valhalla. Ubisoft shat...
I never understood why people liked this guy.
Everyone gave Don Mattrick crap for the DRM fiasco (rightfully so), but at least MS had some first party games to play under his leadership.
There's been very little worthwhile games released since Phil took over, and that was 8 and a half years ago.
He canceled Scalebound, canceled Fable: Legends (it was 99% completed!), canceled Project Spark (could have been MS's version of Dreams).
