Day’s Gone was an 8/10 at best. Many reviewed don’t play these open world games to completion unless they get a review copy weeks in advance. Doesn’t help that Day’s Gone doesn’t have options to fight hordes until the endgame. No amount of “wokeness” changes that. (Also, why is caring about other people a bad thing? Societies are built on positive human interaction.)

Nintendo Switch is a handheld. You wouldn’t compare DS sales to PS2 sales!

Agree. Days Gone needed a little more something, like player choice in the story or moving the hoard fighting to the earlier acts. Solid 8/10 from me.

I blast through a lot of games on easy mode. And I love it. If knowing that hurts you, I’m not sorry.

Questionable whether we should compare a home console to a handheld. Also questionable whether Nintendo Switch is a home console that can go mobile or a handheld with a nice dock. (The Switch Lite is 100% a handheld.) I also never forget how small these numbers are compared to smart phone and tablet sales.

This narrative comes from the US. In the US, Xbox had won marketshare and mindshare by the end of the Xbox 360/PS3 era. Worldwide, PS3 won. Even in the US, a not insubstantial amount of Xbox 360 sales were replacements for RROD death. The cell processer in the PS3 was also not popular with developers, and on-line gaming on PS3 was not as good as on Xbox Live (though it was free on PS3). Xbox was poised to take over marketshare and then blew it with E3 2013 presentation of the Xbox One. Micros...

You don’t appreciate the opportunity to pay $120 to $180 per year?

Not me. I’ve had a PS5 since launch and have played PS4 games, PS5 versions of PS4 games, cross gen games, and PS5 only games. And honestly, I don’t thing moving away from cross gen matters all that much. Maybe I’ll be blown away by PS5 only games in a couple of years. For now, I wouldn’t sweat over cross gen.

The Game Awards are an industry award show. Look at categories like best microtransactions (online game), most popular advertisers (streamers), and most earned in monetization (online game again). Gamrant also supports the industry with inflated review scores and click bait articles like this. Personally, I’ll have now own thoughts on Game of the Year for 2022 when I finish these games sometime in 2024.

Indeed. The PS4 was not so much great as the Xbox One sucked.

I played the first Hellblade on PS4. No Game Pass needed. I can also play Psychonaughts on PS5. Halo Infinite multiplayer is free on PC and Xbox. No Game Pass needed. Horizon built its fan base pre-Game Pass.

How is this lineup “thanks to Game Pass”?

Yes. 100%. Faster load times. Great controller. Fantastic games. The best console launch in my decades of gaming. And only getting better.

No one on PlayStation or Nintendo worries about 1st party games. This is an Xbox problem.

Control 2 needs more pedantic storytelling and more powers and less gun play. Goddamn website wants all games to be Goddman Call of Duty.

The market will decide. At some point, the new consoles will so overtake old consoles in new game sales that developers will stop developing for the old consoles.

Why would you want a phone game that is not casual? What would that even be?

1177d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

I would pay for Xcloud to play Skyrim in space.

Cost is going to be very personal. If you only play Fortnite, then Game Pass or PS+ is a loss. If you like the PS+ Essential games, you are good to go for less than $5/month. If you usually bargain hunt, you can probably do better than Game Pass or PS+. And if you are going to buy games day one and own them, there is little value in a subscription service.
