This right here. Even with Game Pass and PS+, Ghostwire Tokyo did not somehow become more popular than God of War and Halo and entire the tier of Call of Duty numbers.

One of my criticisms of Destiny is that Guardians all looked like space hobos. I would criticize Fairgame$ if all the player characters look like Poochie from the Simpsons, but I haven’t seen the character creator yet. It’s just too early to pass judgement,

I could say the tide turned in the console wars during last gen and Sony isn’t worried about exclusivity because there is no way for Xbox to take their market share. I could say that Sony plans on the best experience for Bungie games will be on PlayStation, and this is a Trojan Horse to move players to PlayStation. But it’s probably a pre-existing contracts issue.

No chance. If you look at the latest console sales numbers, it’s no contest. Xbox is losing again just like last gen. No PS4 owner is going to watch an Xbox live stream to determine once and for all of they are going to shift console platforms. The most anyone can hope for from Xbox is some more gameplay of Starfield, and I hope it looks better than last time.

Agree 100%. We get a constant feed of game news and trailers. I don’t know why we Somy needs these showcases except to show off their new hardware.

I was excited until I saw the vidoc and heard Bungie talk about all the same Stockholm syndrome shit that makes Destiny so awful. All I want is some running and gunning and all Bungie wants is for me to no life their game and buy all their Goddamn microtransactions.

Why would I be disappointed? This is just a bunch of trailers. I get these all the time from Sony’s e-mails, PS blog, and in the PS5 Home Screen. I think folks are just butthurt that there’s no more E3 floor show.

I’m not going to say exclusives don’t matter but their power is in building up the library of games for a console and not removing games for other consoles. GoW is a great game but it’s not better because Xbox and Nintendo owners can’t play it. MGS triangle isn’t worse because more people can play it.

Never will I understand the reactions to these showcases. What we are seeing is an hour of game trailers. There is not and never has been anything special about watching trailers. Any disappointment is in your own mind, created by your own fantastical expectations.

PSVR2 is $550 and you probably have to buy all new games for it. That’s not impulse buy money. My household had a lot of conversations about this before we ordered one. This will always be a niche product at that price. Maybe the unit is good enough to straddle generations. That would help with affordability on an annualized basis.

Sales of individual games in general on PC aren’t at the level of console sales. That’s why AAA games are released on console and ported to PC instead of the other way around. If PC gamers want better games, they have ti buy them.

“Playstation was almost dead in the PS3 era”

PS3 sold more units than Xbox 360, and probably a few million more than that when you account for RRoD replacements.

WiiU was a flop, for sure, and flopped so hard that Nintendo has basically bowed out of the home console market and dedicated itself to the handheld market.

The Xbox discussion is still basically trying to recover from E3 2013 and Microsoft’s grand plan is spending $70B on exi...

Ouch. Phil Spencer meant it when he said Microsoft can’t out-console Sony and Nintendo. I’m still curious about how many Series S consoles are in the wild. At some point, maybe already, developers are going to have to leave Series S behind. You can’t push the envelope for PS5 and Series X if you also have to work with the 4 tf in the Series S. This makes the true current gen install base for Xbox even smaller.

Where else would Square Enix release FFXVI? Nintendo Switch? This ain’t Pokémon graphics. The Series S? Probably would run like dog shit. The Series X? Too little marketshare in the jrpg market. I give Microsoft credit for courting the shooter crowd and western RPG crowed, but they left behind a lot of genres that PlayStation and Nintendo own now.

Don’t be such a sourpuss. A console maker’s offers to third parties aren’t limited to money. They include marketing and technical assistance. Sony can do Square Enix’s a favor just by making a hole in Sony’s first party release schedule. (Though I see that Microsoft has don’t that for 2 and a half years straight!) Part of the PS5 “exclusivity” is that Final Fantasy XVI won’t run on older hardware like the Switch, probably would run like dog shit on the Xbox Series S, and the Series X just doe...

I commend anyone in the games media industry for posting an outlier opinion. Reviews scores are inflated and on the whole, should be “lower than average”. The internet is also prone to dogpiling. Remember the ending of Mass Effect 3? It wasn’t that bad. Conversely, not every game that “everybody” agrees is great will be that good. That doesn’t mean an outlier opinion is gets free pass from criticism. The value of Siskel and Ebert was that they constantly argued with each other. I would love t...
