Yeah yeah and I bet a nice big fat cheque from MS had nothing to do with dumping the platform that gave them life. Seriously stop telling us bull Remedy and just come out and admit it, you sold out end of story.

well going by how saints row 2 was I will take that with a lorry load of salt. The car handling was laughable the graphics practically last gen and on the PC it ran like absolute crap. I won't be wasting my money on this when I have Just Cause 2 to keep me busy.

From what I can see of the videos it is basically a hack and slash game. If that is the case I really can't see this game doing all that well. It certainly isn't the kind of game I would bother with.

That is primarily the reason why they don't release it at the same time as the consoles. They don't want you buying the PC version so they don't give you the opportunity. It makes much more business sense to have you buy it on the consoles and then make you re-buy it for the PC.

I have been a long time Nvidia user and even I am less than impressed by the GTX480. The main concerns I have are heat and power usage. I just don't feel the "extra" performance the GTX480 gives over ATI's offerings justify the extra heat and power usage.

I wasn't intending to hop on board with a GTX480 straight away (way too pricey for my tastes) but if Nvidia don't get the power and heat issues under control I can see me switching to ATI when I upgrade from Dx10 to ...

As a PC gamer we can all do our part to kill this sorry ass system. I refuse to buy ANY game that uses Games For Windows Live. In my view any game that uses GFWL is going to be a complete mess and isn't worth my money.

I am on the fence about Games For Windows titles though (it's just branding and no live interface). I don't automatically dismiss GFW titles but anything that uses GFWL I don't touch.

Perhaps if Microsoft actually starts putting a bit of effort into...

So another industry that jumps on the gravy train that is the poor embattled British Tax Payer. These corporations must be laughing their arse off. Not only do we have to pay extortionate sums for the finished products but our tax is going to be used to make the games.

Well to be fair Rockstar would do it, the problem is Sony and MS would never pay the amount needed to get them to do it. I would say to secure timed exclusivity of the next GTA game would cost in the region of 200 million. Just look at what happened with MS, they paid 50 million for two DLC packs and only got 18 months exclusivity.

Now even the most ardent fanboy has to admit that 200 million to secure one game for 12 months to a console is a pretty moronic thing to do.

I am not saying I disagree with you, the next GTA won't be a PS3 exclusive. However I do wonder where you got the $300 million to make GTA 4 from. Last time I heard the game only cost $100 million to make with a further $10 spent on making the PC version.

The main reason the next GTA won't be on the PS3 exclusive is down to the fact 6 - 7 million xbox users bought GTA 4. No company can afford to compensate Rockstar for cutting out 6 - 7 million customers.

It was ADVERTISED on UK steam but they never let you "pre-order" it. Here is a topic about Assassins Creed 2 :-

http://forums.steampowered....

If starts with a post from a moderator that clearly stated Assassins Creed 2 would not be available for purchase in the UK. The date of the post was 3rd March 2010 which was nearly two weeks before Assassins Creed 2 went on sa...

@ BattleAxe - Right so according to YOUR figures 95% of PC gamers have never heard of steam. So lets do the maths, we know there are 25 million steam users so if 25 million steam users only account for 5% of the PC gaming population that means there are a further 500 million PC gamers then. This is according to YOUR own figure Battleaxe.

SO if Pachter is correct and only 10% of PC's out there are more powerful than the PS3/360 that comes to at least 50 million PC's. Well I gue...

@ gamesmaster - I know the steam hardware survey isn't a survey of ALL PC's in existence. However it is a good representative sample of steam users and their hardware. At least there is some attempt by steam to show what is happening with PC hardware.

Now tell me where did Pachter get his "90%" figure ? oh yeah that's right he just pulled a number out of his rear end.

@ badz149 - erm I am unaware of a single Dx11 card on the market that is weaker than ...

Oh god not the old "there are no PC games in shops" argument. That has been covered so many times. No PC gamer is STUPID enough to buy games from a retail shop. They buy their games either via steam or order them from an online retailer where they are a hell of a lot cheaper than a retail shop.

The only thing that "lack of PC games in retail shops" demonstrates is that retail shops are on their way out. The only thing keeping retail chains going are the co...

Hm the steam hardware survey seems to show that Pachter is just a wee bit wrong. As of now at least 53% own a Directx 10 capable PC with 3% owning a Directx 11 capable PC.

Now graphics card wise we can see that 40% of steam users have a graphics card more powerful than the 360 and PS3. Lastly cpu wise at least 25% of steam users have a quadcore.

I think we can safely say that Pachter hasn't got a clue what he is on about as per usual.

This is a myth steam in the UK did not pull the games from the store. It is well known that steam in the UK NEVER offered Assassins Creed 2 or Silent Hunter 5 for sale. There is apparently a business agreement in the UK with some retail shop group which means Ubisoft cannot sell games via the UK steam store.

I wouldn't say EA has learned their lesson. You just need to look at C&C4 which requires a constant internet connection to play the single player game. Now sure they "prettify" it with excuses like "it's how you progress in the game" but it is still a continuous on line connection to play an SP game.

Thankfully C&C 4 is so god awful that people aren't even pirating it never mind buying it.

I stopped buying Ubisoft games when they started using starforce. NOw they have stopped using starforce and they are using this new DRM I will continue to NOT buy Ubisoft games.

I am lucky in a way nothing Ubisoft are producing remotely interests me other than Settlers 7 but I won't die if I don't play that game. I do know if PC gamers don't take a stand against this protection then sooner or later most publishers will adopt it.

I buy my games and I flat out refuse...

I would like to think more PC and PS3 users will take this attitude. I don't believe you should reward Rockstar financially for screwing PS3 PC users over for the better part of nearly 2 years.

Remember when Rockstar took MS's money they were basically saying PS3 users and PC users custom wasn't important. If PS3/PC users buy this DLC now then you are just validating what Rockstar did and showing them they can do it again to you in the future.

Yeah a benchmark is a bit pointless on a console that has a set performance range. A benchmark on the PC is actually a useful device for PC gamers to use to tweak the settings. Now since there are no settings to tweak on the console you don't need a benchmark do you.
