@ Biggest you clearly don't understand things all Naughty Dog does is PS3 stuff right ? That is it no other systems whatsoever. That means they have the staff, resources and equipment for working solely on the PS3. Now I am not knocking ND for that, they feel comfortable working with the PS3 then that is up to them.
However Valve is a PC developer the PC works in a fundamentally different way to the PS3. The resources they have and equipment they use is geared towards PC deve...
Did I say Valve was "pushing themselves" ? No I didn't say that. I have already commented that the reason the xbox 360 gets Valve games is down to the fact the 360 shares a lot in common with the PC. If it wasn't for that fact then the 360 wouldn't be getting valve games either.
I merely pointed out that Valve's comfort zone is the PC just like Naughty Dog's comfort zone is the PS3. If you must "big" up a developer at least do it with a developer that real...
If you develop an environment around programming the PS3 I would say it is a hell of a lot easier to make games for the PS3. That has always been the point that companies like Valve and others make. The PS3 differs radically from how the other 3 major systems do things (ie PC, 360 and Wii). If you are geared up to work on the 3 major systems it is difficult to convert that work onto the PS3.
The same is true if you work solely on the PS3 I imagine Naughty Dog would have a he...
How are Naughty Dog challenging themselves ? Last time I checked they only work on the PS3. I haven't seen them produce anything on the 360 nor have they attempted to break into the PC market. Nope all Naughty Dog do is concentrate on the system they know best .......... oh wait that's what Valve does too, only it it's the PC. If anything at least Valve concentrates on bringing their games to at least TWO platforms. All Naughty Dog does is make PS3 games ........ yeah really pushing them...
I simply asked you to qualify why you consider Valve was destroying the gaming industry. Everyone with an ounce of sense knows that Valve is a PC developer and they have done an incredible job of bringing products and services to the PC.
The only reason why you find valve products on the xbox 360 is down to the fact that Microsoft made the xbox 360 to be "similar" to PC's. Now I will agree that Gabe has said some stupid things in the past. However I fail to see how V...
Ok how about you elaborate on how Valve "slowly destroyed the gaming industry" ? The gaming industry is NOT the PS3, there is an awful lot of childish sulking going on in this topic that's for sure and "Valve destroying the gaming industry" is one of the most pathetic sulks I have seen.
Valve has always been a PC centric developer, the only reason why the xbox 360 got versions of the games is due to the fact it has a lot in common with the PC.
Ah just checked up and Just Cause 2 has no multiplayer, I can't say I am particularly bothered if the game is just GFW after all that is just a brand name. I just assumed it had Multiplayer and it was a GFW title so that meant GFWL <shudders>.
My interest in the game just peaked again, now all I need is for it to be released on steam in the UK and they get my money.
Oh I will rush out and buy 10 ........ hm maybe not. So I will stick with my GTX260 nothing is really stressing it these days, but if prices don't come down when I am ready to move up I may well go the ATI way (even if their drivers are unmitigated disasters).
It was sold for about $5 a few months ago on steam and this game is so badly optimised on the PC that at $5 that was still daylight robbery.
I was sorely tempted to pre-order this on the PC, then I saw it was Dx10 only but that isn't a problem I have 2 PC's both with Dx10 and win 7 installed. Then I saw it was GFWL ...... no thank you. It's such a shame companies continue to spoil their products with this awful service. Ah well I saved myself a bit of dosh.
The maximum disc size the Xbox 360 can read is a dual layer DVD disc. Each layer of a DVD can store around 4.7gbs of Data. GTA 4 on the xbox 360 uses a dual layer disc so that is 4.7gbs x 2 = 9.4gbs. However due to technical reasons the maximum a dual layer disc can hold is around 8.5gbs.
Now Microsoft allocate some of the space on the DVD for security and promotional purposes which cuts the amount of data the disc can hold down to around 6.8gbs. I believe the install of GTA ...
Whilst I agree that developers should move away from Directx 9 and start using Dx11 (hell forget Dx10). I do have to question things in this case. Does anyone seriously expect Just Cause 2 to look any different on the PC using Dx10 ? No all we will get is a Dx9 look using Dx10 that is it. This is down to pure laziness on the developers part.
But hey they want to cut out part of their audience then that is up to them. I just hope they won't cry too much when the game bombs on...
Well to be fair to Bioware single core cpu's are now only a minority of the market. The last steam survey shows us that the break down is :-
4 cpu = 29%
2 cpu = 57%
1 cpu = 18%
http://store.steampowered.c...
As you can see the single cpu PC is becoming a thing of the past and it is "good faith" that Bioware supports them.
You got to laugh at Apple and how things have changed so much. I remember the "1984" advert where Apple proudly proclaimed "why 1984 won't be like 1984". Nah course it won't they just waited till 2010.
To quote the big brother character in the ad :-
"Today, we celebrate the first glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directives. We have created for the first time in all history, a garden of pure ideology. Where each worker ma...
Erm yes you can, you can create an offline profile without ever having logged into GFWL. I hate the service as much as the next guy but you can create an offline profile with no problems.
So let's see it's 6 months after the console version, more expensive than the console version, has horrendous DRM and NOW it doesn't even look all that good. I think it is time Ubisoft came out and told us what they are smoking, because I want to try it.
"You only hear what you want to hear"
The same could be said for you Shepherd 214 if Microsoft hadn't done the operating system for the PC someone else would've. However the demand for the PC would still have been there. In short Microsoft owes an awful lot more to the PC than the PC owes to Microsoft. If MS stopped making windows tomorrow which do you think would disappear Microsoft or the PC ? It would be Microsoft because other companies would step in and show MS...
"Oh and before i leave i wanted to add that the PC platform wouldnt be where it is today without dirty old Microsoft."
Actually it is the other way round, Microsoft wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for the PC. You wouldn't be gaming on an xbox 360 if it wasn't for the PC which has been used by Microsoft to fund the xbox 360.
Microsoft receives no revenue from PC games that is why they started a console in the first place. The only time Microsoft benefits from PC gaming is when someone buys a copy of their operating system that is it.
Supreme Commander 2 and Splinter Cell are multiplatform titles because the games are on TWO different platforms. Therefore they are not xbox 360 exclusives are they.
Ha I thought MS gave up supporting the PC in any way it could ages ago unless it can sell us another OS /sarcasm
I appreciate that they can't go on supporting WinXP forever but there is still a significant user base using XP and it seems ridiculous that they are just abandoning them now (well actually it isn't ridiculous it's just Microsoft).
It doesn't particularly affect me since I am using win7 on both of my PC's but I do understand why some would stay with winxp ...
