Yeah I have just been sitting here for nearly 3 years waiting for a sequel to portal ............... NOT. I didn't think much to the first one and I can't say I am that hyped for this either.
It looks like this is going to be a stand alone game costing about $50 :-

So I wouldn't get my hopes up about this being bundled with anyt...
OK Ubisoft we get it, you don't want to make any money on the PC. Now do us all a favour and leave the PC platform alone we don't need your bug ridden, DRM infested crappy unoptimised console ports that are little more than malware.
If I know Ubisoft and their history I think people that buy their games will find them incomplete too.
This is just damage limitation from Ubisoft from what I can tell the only thing "not working" is the achievements in SH 5 and no PC gamer really gives a crap about them.
Either way I am not going near a Ubisoft title be it pirated or otherwise. I think it is time Ubisoft admitted what we have all known for a long time, they aren't interested in the PC and...
Why is it people still trust Rockstar and this "exclusive" crap ? If you will remember Xbox 360 owners were pretty sure that the DLC was "exclusive". Rockstar only does "timed exclusivity", Agent is probably exclusive to the PS3 for 12 - 18 months then it will come to the 360 and possibly PC.
Please people stop falling for this bull from Rockstar remember they spent a year claiming the GTA 4 DLC was exclusive to the 360
Most modern Macs use an Intel processor, in fact it is fair to say most modern day Macs are little more than locked down PC's. Not only do they use the same cpu but also motherboards, ram and gpu's as PC's.
The only difference is Apple locking things down and using their operating system. The hardware is that similar that you can actually run a copy of windows on an apple mac if you wish too. It really isn't that much of a challenge to bring the steam client to modern day Mac's...
Oh I agree with you there, people shouldn't buy the game and I agree that people shouldn't pirate it either, after all we don't want to give Ubisoft "excuses".
However it is equally important that this protection does get broken. If this protection remains unbroken it may encourage other publishers to hop on board. Even though there has been a massive outcry about the drm I could easily see publishers thinking "well the drm is unbroken the outcry has died down so...
The PC is a financially viable gaming option for developers that put out quality work. This is the reason why Ubisoft has adopted draconian DRM their PC ports are crap and this is just a quick smash and grab on the PC for some extra dosh.
There has been zero work done on the PC version of Assassins Creed 2 it is an exact carbon copy of the console version and they expect PC gamers to pay more for a 4 month old game on top of that.
Do a good game, make it run well, r...
I don't generally approve of pirates and cracks. However this new DRM from Ubisoft is so heinous that it needs to be beaten to a bloody pulp as quickly as possible. Nice to see it has indeed been slapped down like it should be.
Ah you got to love PC gamers, if Sony reduces their firmware footprint and makes things run better you have their users going "nice one, good to see them improving things". If Nvidia improves their drivers they get "pfftt they were probably pretty unoptimised in the first place". You can't get more cynical than a PC gamer.
Wow Solitaire has an on line mode does it ? Regardless of what games are played on line it still means the PC came out on top but the console users on this site don't want to hear that do they. No they want to hear which came second.
Yes I know the news headline has "console" in it but WHY ? This is a story about several platforms. The story should have been "PC on line gaming still more popular than console on line gaming" but curiously it doesn't, nope i...
@ ClownBelt - Doesn't it strike you as strange that a story would concentrate on the fact a platform came 2nd ? A lot of people won't make the distinction between "platforms" and "consoles". I see a lot of people going "the PC can't compete with the consoles" on here. Yet when there is a story blatantly showing the PC well ahead then it gets ignored and the console aspect just gets "bigged" up.
This story should have been about the PC be...
Yeahhhh doesn't it just say "console" I wonder why ? Why is it important to illustrate that the xbox 360 is the most used console platform ? Surely this story should be about the PC being the most used platform for online gaming but no for some reason the story just concentrates on the three consoles.
The PC is used by 85% to play online but hey that isn't important lets ignore that and just make out the xbox 360 which only accounts for 48% is the most used platform. ...
Got to love the way every one kinda glosses over the fact that the PC is the most used system for online gaming :-
"The PC is the most-used system for online play; 85% of online gamers report using the platform for multiplayer. The Xbox 360 is second, with 48%. The PS3 and Wii are tied at 30%."
Yeah lets totally ignore the PC and try to spin it that a console is the most used gaming platform ......... that sounds about right for the gaming media these days....
Hm not quite sure why IGN is even bothering with this preview ? I mean if Rockstar can't be bothered to generate any hype for the DLC on the PC/PS3 why should anyone else.
Thankfully Rockstar won't catch me out again, the PC version of GTA 4 was a sack of crap and I am not in a hurry to repeat my mistake and hand over more money to them.
Is it my imagination or were FPS games longer a few years ago ? I remember games like Dark Forces, Duke Nukem, Project IGI lasting me an absolute age before I finished them. Now these days we are grateful if a game lasts into double figures.
My interest in this game just dropped right down, only 10 hours and they will expect me to pay full price for it...... I think not I will wait for it to hit the bargain bucket and then pick it up.
Well I am not expecting them to do something along the lines of firefox. However a simple bookmark function would have greatly enhanced the browser. At the moment it is next to useless and they might as well not bother with a web browser in the UI at all.
Other than the speed issue (the beta can be a tad bit slow at times) I am quite enjoying it. I love the in game internet browser but have to question why they don't let you book mark sites in it.
I love ME 2 since it's release I have clocked up 156hours playing the game. Now as much as I love ME 2 the "streamlined" rpg elements do come across as dumbing the RPG side down. I wouldn't say I am a big RPG fan, I can't stand stuff like Dragons Age or Oblivion (sorry swords and elves just don't do it for me) but even I have to go "WTF what did they do with the RPG elements in Mass Effect 2 ?"
There is practically no inventory, you are left totally clueless...
Oh didn't know there was a second shop on the Krogan homeworld.
I am saying Portal 2 is a stand alone game that will retail for full price. I am afraid long gone are the days when you got things like Halflife 2/episode 1 & 2/Team Fortress 2/Portal bundles for the price of a retail game.
The Left 4 Dead series showed Valve that you can sell games by the lorry load even if they don't have that much content. I am saying Portal 2 is just continuing that trend.
Oh and the orange box is nearly 3 years old, companies change. If ...
