I never had the finances to own an 8800ultra but you can bet your life if I had the money I would have bought one, it was a killer card. The only way it was beaten by the competition was for them to glue two of their highest end cards together.

@theox2g7 I wasn't dissing PC gaming or Crysis (I love the game minus that alien space ship rubbish) but to play Crysis on Ultra High at the resolutions PC gamers expect (ie higher than 1080p) you need a kick ass PC, there is no getting around that and the poster did ask for a "cheap" card that will do it.

rofl good luck trying to find a cheap graphics card that plays Crysis without breaking into a sweat. At this current time there isn't a single card out there that can play Crysis at Ultra High, 1080p res ' 60fps. Even if you were to buy two 8800ultra's it couldn't be done. The chances are even the new 9800gtx can't do it. If you want a card that plays Crysis without breaking into a sweat then come back in three years time when Nvidia launch the G100 based cards.

I have seen about 4-5 fps improvement on my C2D E6600 and 8800gts 320mb card. Certainly makes it a lil bit more playable in 1440 x 900 with all settings on High. Problem is I am a bit bored of the SP part of it now and never been a fan of MP.

why is it every news item about PC's gets contaminated with console kiddies. I mean are they that insecure ? PC gaming can easily be done on a budget, the PC I am using now cost me £80 more than the PS3 at the time it was launched and it can play crysis at 1440 x 900 with settings on High. Not to mention it can play these so called next gen console ports at a higher res and better frame rate. I can't believe in this day and age these damn sets don't have a HD receiver. I mean would anyone consider buying a standard tv without a built in receiver ?????? answer = NO. Yet you have people quite willing to hand over hundreds of dollars/pounds for nothing more than a glorified monitor. Personally I have no intention of buying a HD TV till there is actually someone broadcasting HD without having to pay close to a 1000 bucks for a HD receiver plus a monthly subscription.
personally I would like to tell Rockstar where to shove their games. They treat the PC format with utter contempt and all they are trying to do is squeeze the last few bucks out of it's users.

Noodlecup you have convinced me there is hope for humanity. It is great to see someone speaking sense for once. Just for the record my PC cost me £500 ($1000) and it plays Crysis on High at 1440 x 900. So please to other people shut up about it needing a $5000 PC.
I mean sure if you want to run the game at 1600 x 1200 (practically 1200p, hell the PS3 only goes up to 1080p) of course you are going to need a PC that costs half the GDP of Outer Mongolia.
I am surprised it got an 8 seriously this game is so dull. I can pretty much play it with all settings maxxed out, I didn't find it graphically impressive. I mean there is absolutely nothing to this game it is just cover, shoot, cover, shoot etc etc etc.
if you think the RSX comes anywhere near the power and performance of a 8800gtx then you are seriously ill informed. The only way the PS3 is getting half it's graphical power done is thanks to the Cel BE chip. Even then most PS3 games are still only 720p res and rely on scaling to get a fake 1080p res. Where as most PC gamers expect nothing less than natively rendered 1080p
I have to agree with the review as well. I love PC gaming but seriously UT 3 was just dull. It's that bad I don't think people are even bothering to pirate it. This will probably be another PC franchise that will become console only and to be honest I really couldn't care less they are welcome to it.
I won't hold my breath for this rumour to come true. It is a well known fact that Rockstar threw all it's toys out of the pram over the Hot Coffee incident (which was their fault). However hopefully this rumour will force Rockstar to come out and tell us the reason why they are treating their fanbase with such contempt.
