You really aren't a PC gamer are you Deebee ? The only partition of my hard disc that is ever likely to see a format is my C drive. I naturally DO NOT have my steam folder on the C drive I have an entire 1tb hard disc dedicated to steam. So if I format the c drive or reinstall the OS I do not lose the game files because they are on a seperate HD.

Now after a format all I need to do is reinstall the steam program and hey presto when I go to launch the game it checks to s...

I can't understand why people are still attaching importance to a round bit of plastic. All the disc gives you is the "illusion" of ownership, you never own the game you pay for a licence to USE the game.

I have been a gamer for 20 odd years and I am now 100% digital. In the early days I actually cared about the boxes and discs, we would get maps, posters, novella's and other little knick knacks that gave the game value. Now all you get is a crappy 5p rec...

All I can say is "it's a myth that this PC gamer gives a crap about Epic". I don't have a problem with developers leaving the PC platform to develop for the consoles if that's what they want. After all the PC is an open platform and people are free to do what ever they like.

I do however have a problem with people trash talking the PC platform like Epic have been doing for the past couple of years. I look forward to Epic's console fps, Bulletstorm...

That is true there are no official platforms as of yet. It is rumoured to that it will be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 there is absolutely NO rumour that it will be released on the PC.

If we are going to use the argument that the platforms haven't been announced yet then surely this story should be in the Wii, PSP and DS section as well. There is more of a chance of seeing an iphone version of LA Noire than there is of seeing a PC version.

I am just...

How is this PC news ? This game is only coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 there is no PC version.

What does the PS3 even have to do with this story ? This story is about the great deals available on steam on the PC. I can only guess you are under the impression steam is coming to the PS3 ... it IS NOT you are just getting some features of steamworks such as auto updating and cloud saving.

Oh Topic : This has to be the fifth time GTA 4 has been sold for about 5 bucks and none of the other deals seem that great so it is another day where my credit card stays firmly in m...

Rockstar currently have no plans to bring RDR to the PC (and no they never said that about the PC version of GTA 4). Very few of Rockstar San Diego's games ever get ported to the PC I don't believe RDR will be ported either.

In any case after the appalling job Rockstar did of GTA 4 on the PC I don't want these idiots to be allowed anywhere near a PC game.

The nature of console reliability cannot really be predicted you could find someone that has had their xbox/PS3 for 3 years and never had a problem. Equally you could also find someone that has gone through 2 or 3 xbox's/PS3's in the same time. So we can't really use that in the comparisons but it is something to be aware of.

The same with upgrading, a decent PC costing $1,000 will have no problems playing games for 5 or more years at better settings than the co...

Just a thought but why not buy the games now whilst they are on sale then later on download them to your PC when it is fixed ?

5712d ago 7 agree0 disagreeView comment

Nope you are wrong there a $1,000 PC will easily play games maxxed out for 5 years or more. A $1000 PC will at least be able to play games at higher settings than the console even if it wouldn't be able to "max" out the game towards the end of it's life.

If you are going to factor upgrades into the costs then what about repair costs for the consoles ? Both consoles have had their fair share of problems and you only get a 1 year warranty on them. If someth...

Not quite sure why the author of this article included motion sensing gear in the console comparison and no motion sensing gear in the PC comparison. The article would have still illustrated it's point just as well if you had totally ignored the motion sensing stuff.

The key expense for gamers is the actual games themselves, this is the key area the PC wins out on. There is no license fee for PC games which is why they are cheaper on release and get cheaper a lot quicke...

It isn't so much a case they "want" to make the service available to silver members. It is more a case legally they are not allowed to charge UK residents again for something they have already paid for.

The BBC is funded by a £140 licence fee (a broadcasting tax) everyone in the UK has to pay that fee if they own a Television or a computer. So in theory we have already paid for the programs that the BBC broadcasts via the airwaves and internet.

hm I am in the market for a new keyboard, for some reason the WASD lettering has worn off my keys. The price for the razor keyboard is a bit steep though for what it offers.

The BBC iplayer does support HD (upto 720p) and a great many programs available on iplayer are also available in HD. The BBC iplayer service also supports subtitles as well for those that are hard of hearing. It is a pretty good service I use it on my PC to catch up on programs I missed earlier and I watch nearly all of the programs in HD.

Whether the PS3 incarnation of iplayer will support HD is anyone's guess although for the life of me I cannot see any reason why it ...

@Chris399 - to be fair the British do pay a licence fee to cover the costs of the BBC (about £140 a year ($208)). So it would be a bit unfair if the rest of the world could access content from the BBC legitimately whilst contributing nothing financially.

This is one of the reasons why the Xbox currently doesn't have iplayer. MS wants to make it part of the gold package and I believe this actually breaks the BBC licence terms (ie the Brits would be paying again for ...

If the PC's limits are just as high as "the trees" then the console limits are as high as a blade of grass that just got sliced by a lawn mower.

That is probably down to the fact it was on sale two weeks ago. Historically if a game has been in a previous sale it doesn't get featured in any new sale for a while, if you see what I mean.

Ha the steam page has crashed with all the activity. Not much there that interests me, I think I am going to stop buying games just because they are a "deal" and stick to buying games that actually interest me.

Edit - I don't usually do this but I have to love the moron that disagreed with me. I wonder which part of my statement did they disagree with ? Was it the bit where I said that "none of these games interest ME" or was it the fact I said &qu...

Hm just a tad bit misinformed aren't you ? The reason MS prevents the PC from getting first party titles has nothing do do with Piracy. If you don't believe me then how about you believe the head guy at Microsoft Games Studios who is on record as saying :-

"If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version -- because they are more likely to buy that t...
