So if you are trying to lose any annoying friends then refer them to APB and they won't stay your friend for much longer.
Microsoft has a PC service called GFWL it essentially uses the xbox live network. So there is no technical reason why Xbox 360 games and GFWL games could not have had cross platform play since they both use the same network.
Ok this is getting scary now, another positive PC topic on N4G ?? I am going to check my DNS settings I am sure I am being misdirected to an alternate N4G site /sarcasm
I love keyboard and mouse it is probably one of the key features that keeps me a PC gamer. Although I don't really think it is fair to say Microsoft killed cross platform because console gamers were bad at games. It is more accurate to say that Microsoft killed cross platform because they didn't wan...
Ok what is going on here ? This is the second "positive" story about the PC today on N4G. Is the site under new management ? has there been a tear in the space/time continuum ?
This isn't really news to PC gamers of course. I have been a PC gamer for 20 years and I haven't been in a retail store since I shoved a modem in my PC. In the beginning I just ordered games off the net for home delivery and now I just buy games from steam for near "instant&q...
Would you mind clarifying what you mean by "lost Crysis as a PC franchise" ? As far as I am aware Crysis 2 is coming to the PC and will be visually better so I don't see how PC gamers "lost" Crysis.
The fact that Crysis 2 is now multiplatform is down more to the PC's open nature than anything else. In case you missed the memo most developers are switching to multiplatform development. The only developers not doing so are either owned by Microsof...
It's such a shame most have forgotten the excellent "The Terminator : Future Shock" and "The Terminator : Skynet" both by Bethesda Softworks. Too bad they never released sequels they were truly fantastic Terminator games for their time.
As for this fan made mod I can't see it having much of a future. Whoever holds the license to make a game from the Terminator franchise is not going to allow a fan made mod to flourish.
Any machine is PhysX capable even the xbox 360 is PhysX capable. Before Nvidia bought Ageia (the company behind PhysX) they had already ported PhysX's to the Xbox 360 and PS3 cpu's. So it is entirely feasible that both consoles will have basic physics run by Nvidia's CPU PhysX engine.
However the more advanced physical effects such as clothing and advanced destruction will need a dedicated GPU to do the calculations. The PS3 cannot use the GPU PhysX code. On...
Ohhhhh god another piracy article these are getting as bad as "the PC is dead I tell you". The problem isn't piracy the problem is software developers are not making games PC gamers are interested in.
I don't pirate games, I have a reasonable PC (quad with GTX260) and I very rarely buy full priced games because they are just not worth it these days. The article uses Street fighter as an example, I bought that for £12 got half an hour out of it and t...
"When you have millions of customers, you can't talk to them all. Many of the Epic folks are in frequent contact with enough gamers that we have a pretty clear idea of what the community is thinking"
I liked that bit at least we can be happy in the knowledge that Epic know PC gamers think they are arse holes. As for this whole Mark Rein business what a bloody child. It is about time Mark grew up and started acting like an adult. The same could be said for a l...
@ mantisimo - if you had bothered to read my comments you will notice I do not have a problem because I have a pretty decent PC. You will have also noticed I do not endorse or condone piracy I think it is a disgusting practice.
You seem to have totally missed my point, whilst I do not condone piracy I don't condone a lot of practices that sofware companies do either. Yes piracy is wrong but then so are a lot of things software companies do.
But what is ...
Sorry Lelldorianx but leaving the operating system out of the cost equation is just plain wrong. That PC won't be playing a single thing without an operating system. At the very least you should have indicated an operating system would be needed at extra expense.
I am sorry you can't see it that way and it is no excuse to just say "hey we all have 20 copies of windows xp lying around anyway". I have several hard discs lying around perhaps you should rem...
@ DeathroW22 - I am sorry did you just say "developers give sufficient system requirements" ? That is a load of rubbish. The system requirements 9 times out of 10 mean diddly squat. A classic example is GTA 4 with a minimum requirement of a Dual core and 7900. In reality the game barely worked on that minimum requirement and had horrendous graphical glitches (hell you didn't even have any car damage).
In other words Rockstar LIED about the system requirement...
Yes but this isn't an upgrade it is a brand new PC built from all new parts. Like I said just because you already have a PC does not mean they should leave the cost of the operating system out. After all you can take your hard disc from your old PC should that be removed from the cost ? what about the PSU or the graphics card ? After all if you are upgrading then you could probably take those with you too.
This article was about building a NEW PC with all new parts not...
Well for a starters if you have several copies of an OS I think it is safe to assume you build your own PC's so this article isn't really aimed at you.
Secondly if you have copies of the OS everywhere I imagine you have several hard discs or several PSU's etc etc should they be left out of the costing as well ? Just because people may have additional copies it does not mean they should leave the cost of an operating system out of the build. At the very least it ...
I don't understand why people leave the cost of an operating system out of the equation when doing these builds. It is an essential item of the PC just as essential as the hard disc or the PSU and it should be included in the pricing of a system.
Those are ridiculous analogies, for a starters if you steal someone's petrol from their car you are depriving them of that petrol, if you steal food from their fridge you are depriving them of the food.
With piracy you never deprive them of the ability to sell their game, you make a COPY of it. Now I am not defending piracy one bit but I get sick and tired of people trying to equate piracy to stealing.
How about the other side though ? If I buy a PC gam...
Oddly enough Peter Zetterberg head honcho of Microsoft Game Studios disagrees with you there :-
"we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360. If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version – because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360."
"If we launched a Halo game on PC and 360 in Germany simultaneou...
I believe there is a hack going around that allows you to use an Nvidia for physics if you have an ATI card.
I will never understand why you guys keep coming up with the same old tired arguments that have been rebutted dozens of times, let's see :-
"Because a PC is just adapted to be a gaming platform" = yeah and consoles use old tech that PC gamers are done with.
"Face it PC gaming is now second class citizen" = erm yeah because the 360 and PS3 never get crappy ports do they ? You mention GTA 4 as a crappy port ....... hm my PC still play...
Ah the games industry it was fun whilst it lasted. The greed mongers that are running things now have completely destroyed the industry. If codemasters implements this "plan" then I will be one less customer of their products.
