And here begin the long list of « but on serie S » footnotes.
I would recommend to any enthusiast interested by this console to wait for the first games analysis and see what really is possible or not on it, and don’t trust MS blindly on it.
Risk is to go for a S, then discover its real life limitations, and need to change for a SX.
We’ll see, not sure a lot of people will still play this game when 90% of console gamers will be equipped with 120Hz TV.
Sounds like a useless upgrade for the majority of console players that dos not have a 120Hz screen, except for ditching Vsync, but this would introduce tearing and stuttering.
You are mistaken.
Sony does not plan to release any more game on PS4 pro in 5 years.
Real next gen titles will not be available on current gen hardware form Sony side.
This is the real difference with MS strategy, nothing to do with the price tag.
It is obvious that technically speaking having to target XSS will had constraints to devs.
It can be accepted if their is some business benefits for editors, time will tell.
If so, MS would have just killed all technical innovation in the console market.
Title is on the click bait side, but the discussed topic interesting.
Even if by themself these next gen consoles are not insanely big ( vs a gaming pc for example), is it true that they are much bigger than any console released so far.
In some tight living room spaces, like myself, it is an issue to consider.
Personally, my main concern with PS5 is not the price or release date, but where the hell will I be able to put it in my TV s...
@CamelCase
That what Spencer said some time ago with the famous « sliders » ;, go see the result on Halo Infinite.
If all SX games for 6/7 years will run at native 4K/60fps, then XSS would allow to play them at 1080p/30fps, which is and acceptable scenario.
But his will not be the case we know for sure, some games will run at 30 FPS on SX, some will not achieve native 4K, and some will even run at 30fps sub 4K on S...
@sampsonon
Ok, so:
1440p: possible on One X/PS4 pro
Ray-tracing: possible on One X/ PS4 pro:
https://n4g.com/news/237091...
60/120fps: possible on One X/PS4 pro. Even on PS1.
You are just copy/pasting MS PR.
It at least you have listed SSD.
Plus, I will add that this is no formal statement from MS that all the games from SX will be available on XSS for the complete gen cycle.
It would be a huge mistake if not market wise, but technically wise it is hard to foresee how things will run on XSS in 5 years.
I would appreciate if game journalists will investigate on this with MS representatives.
But seems like Spencer does not make interviews anymore since all these announcements, him ...
I am really fed up about all these articles praising Serie S on thin air.
Price wise, there is nothing mind blowing for 2020: it’s a 4TF machine with 512 SSD, priced in line with One X and PS4 pro which are in the same range of power, and price
Game wise, we have no clue at all about how next gen titles will run on it vs SX and PS5.
Serie X is the box to talk about and to praise right now for the green team: technically very solid for the whole...
@sampsonon
“Yet still next gen”: please explain me what is so next gen defining in SeS, so that I will be able to get it back to you when you will criticize consoles from other brands.
Amen, someone that understands what is going on.
I understand the leak has forced them to talk, as a “reveal” next week would have been a little awkward then.
To bad they were not able to round this up a little bit more this week.
Announcement have been very abrupt: here are price, date, a couple of video, thanks, bye.
What do you mean?
They bring a low spec machine as entry level, with technical limitations in real life games not yet clear.
Their is a lot of hypocrisy from a lot of people around MS.
Over a 6/7 life cycle for console, $200 extra to have the best spec box is not significant, and Xbox fans are saying everywhere that the don’t spend a dime for games anymore thanks to gamepass.
So, I would think that these juges fans will go ...
Thanks for the link.
So basically they have improved CPU specs vs One X which was the biggest bottleneck on current gen consoles.
But GPU power is lower than One X (roughly 30% lower) and may be hard to fill the gap with RDNA 2 features.
I don’t know what will come out of this box.
At least this video is for once quite honest from MS: SeS is a good machine to play current and last gen games confortably.
It is a good i...
Very good pricing for SX, SeS is just a waste of money.
Let’s hope Sony will also stick to the 499 price tag, and not to advantage of the good PS5 public image so far to push the price higher.
I don’t think PS5 digital will be $399.
It seems to be basically a PS5 with no bluray drive, at $100 below SX it will be a very are competition for Microsoft.
Problem is that a lot of what MS is doing lately does not benefit at all to the community, especially the Xbox one.
Having a 299 box is not what I call a benefit, if any associated technical aspect of it is not discussed. We are not buying a price, but specs, especially core gamers.
Having the SX at 299, or PS5, that is what I would call a benefit for the community.
You Xbox fans are a joke.
Long forgotten are the “most powerful console ever” moto.
Now a digital only 512 GB 1/3 power (rumored) box is the next big thing 😂.
No one wonders why not tech spec is available for this SeS aside MS PR “ next gen 1440p 120fps” BS?
Use your brain and connect the dots:
- One X have been discontinued for this box, but MS promise games to be released to One S for a couple of...
That’s why MS discounted the One X: it was to much of a competition for the serie S.
Without it, Serie S is now the best BC console from MS, even if less capable than One X, and that’s at least one item they can market on to sell it.
Because we will see for sure that for next gen titles Serie S will quickly shows its limitations, and will not be anymore usable as a next gen PR item.
