I agree with you consoles being easy to use, thats a given with consoles. insert disc play. its great for what it does.
Less games pushing the pc is exactly the reason why pc becomes very affordable, due to games being cheaper on this platform. 60+games on the ps3, thats a large investment. I just wonder how much extra you paid compared to PC versions.. asides the few exclusives that has to be atleast between 400-500usd ouch.
bought 70+ games on steam in the last 2 years. must have saved over 1200usd compared to buying console versions.
consoles really are costly and then the added problems of being controlled by a company.
I could give you many reasons, but if it has to be 5 then:
1. Superior game quality (graphics, controls).
2. Cheapest platform out there (dualcore pc only needs 150usd gpu to play games much much better then a console. Hence anyone having a pc its just better to buy a gpu then buy a console).
3. Games cheaper by 15-20usd/game (huge difference overtime) nearly 300usd difference per year if 20 games are bought. more if we count the deals on steam.

pc was much much superior.. there were some stability issues initially
once that was over with. pc was much superior.
while consoles were sub hd, 25fps. PC version had large draw distance, 40-60fps depending on rig, 1080p.

Now all valve needs to do is advertise steam. If it got 1/5th the adds PSN or xbox live gets, it would do wonders. Considering its already growing so fast just based on word of mouth.
Steam is a really good social platform. I see more and more ppl online all the time, mostly the "ingame count is rising week on week" this shows a healthy community.
Forget about the rest of pc gaming, steam alone challenges xbox live when it comes to users logged in (both currently peak around 2.5million). Considering Steam itself is not all PC gaming is, PC still is the largest online platform and its free.

differences between them are minor at best. if one was doing 1080p in all games and the other was doing 720p then we'd call it a difference. Right now its nothing much. id call it fanboisim mocking one over the other.
Being more powerful then a 360 is no challenge (its 5yrs old :P)
PS3 or the PSPgo certainy arent anymore powerful then a 360.

i dont think it will be faster then a 5970, cause remember even the 5970 doesnt run on maximum capacity (i read it was due to the ATX spec allowing a maximum of 300watts). 5970 would require 400watts to run at full speed.
I dont think fermi will have the power to go that fast. I could be wrong.
5870 is an awesome gpu. i have the 5970 personally.
fermi will be great too. I just hope the pricing is reasonable. We are looking to build atleast 3 new rigs, for some of my friends who converted from console gaming, all of them want rigs now lol. If fermi is priced well we will give it a strong consideration.

The dlc trend really is taking over, almost every game released now has a dlc announced few weeks later. Seems like developers hold content back to charge further.

i still play warcraft3 and many other oldies at times, id hate it if i was told i can no longer play them online or that perhaps i need to pay for them again on the latest system just so i can play again.
for the rest of the xbox 360's life we will see games on par with gears of war 1 in graphics.
on the ps3 we will see games on par with uncharted 1.
marginal increments may be made in either case, dont expect anything leaps ahead.
since hardware doesnt magically get stronger every year.
disagree all you like ppl. i dont see a game better looking then uncharted 1 on ps3.
niether do i see much beyond gear of war 1 on 360....
