consoles leaping pcs when it comes to games? lol wat?
On topic.. there isnt any need of this cpu since there isnt a game out there that will take advantage of 6 cores. heck even 4 cores are more then enough.
If intel, amd or nvidia want us buying more powerful hardware they better take up the matter with the software developers, as asides crysis even a g8800gtx along with a dual core cpu will max out any of todays game.
just bought tombraider anniversary.
one of my rigs which has a very old casing, looks like one of those pcs you would find in an office with windows xp installed ready for word processing.
However its got a 5870 installed along with a I5 and 4 gigs of ram.
Looks ordinary but it isnt.
you dont seem to nag when you buy a 300usd console and it looks just like the console next door.
Pc gaming can be much cheaper then consoles or it can be expensive. This is the beauty of PC gaming its very versatile.
A rig looking good or ordinary has nothing to do with its performance.
that would be very very bad for the console gamer. since there would be no competition for online DD for consoles. It would just be sony and microsoft, prices would stay stagnant.
Steam gives very good deals because it must compete against other DD services.
Dont belive everything the news tells ya. Press favors the consoles thats for sure. Consoles may have their place, but nothing can replace PC gaming.
thats because PSN and MS network have no competition. You wont find another online store selling sony games niether will you find another store selling Xbox games.
For the PC steam has competition to worry about.
Hence i agree consoles going online would be bad for the console user.
Also its Microsoft selling overpriced HDD's they sell 60gig for 100usd or so. on pc you could get 1.5tb for 100usd.
crysis sold slow initially cause no one had the hardware to play it.
Though anyone who had the hardware to play crysis in 2007, can still play any of todays games maxxed out.
Digital sales are going strong. its a hint for developers even if the retail is dieing digital is more then making up for it(steam alone being 25million). PC gamers vote with their money, make good games and they will sell on the pc platform.
There is no question the playstaton 3 or the xbox 360 are capable of mods too.
However developers will not like to give console users mod tools. Reason being they would like console users to buy their dlcs instead of getting free mods.
Also Mods will increase the life of the game. Typically developers on consoles want the consumer base to run out for the next game, this would reduce if current games are given mod tools.
Crysis 2 on PC will rock.
Gonna give warhead another playthrough on Eyefinity before i play crysis 2.
Steam did annouce their sales were up 200% for the year 2009. Digital seems to be going strong.
already bought the game at 49usd. had this been on pre-order 4 of us friends would have bought it together as we usually do for all pc games. monster savings imo. anyways all 4 of us paid 49usd for still better then what console users get.
same i got about 80 games on steam now.. it rocks.
i travel alot hence i got a nice laptop for that. its great to have all my games available to me at any place, no need to be carrying physical media.
Steam is doing very well. Its almost as if Pc is Valves platform. Much like sony supports the ps3, microsoft for the xbox. Valve should stand up for the PC.
Steam already is a great platform and Valves cash cow. Supporting Pc gaming will only ensure better sales on steam.
Ps3 surely is better.. but even it charges 10-15usd more per game.
Other then that Ps3 is much much better then the 360 not to mention all the exclusives. 360 has no exclusives worth talking about.
I wouldnt play this DRM crap.
Even if i had to, id sent a 49usd cheque to ubisoft. Then torrent the game.
old news.
Sales on steam can be insane. Cant wait for the eidos pack.
dam console gaming has many unnecessary expenses.
can we please drop the constant upgrade myth.
