Last console i played on was the snes. When N64 for was out(also it didnt have any good games asides mario as keeping the cartridge format ensured nintendo lost all 3rd party support to sony), it was too costly for me at that time.
Hence i decided to upgrade my PC with a 99usd powervr gpu. That was an awesome upgrade. It played games like quake 2, tombraider in 800*600 at that time.

Owned a voodoo 2 sli rig back in the day, that was very costly to afford as a student as each Gpu would cost around 250usd. So thats 500usd for the graphics alone.
That used to be a beastly setup to play quake 2.
IMO 3DFX fall came with their inability to role out GPU's in time which could do 32bit Color. That is where Nvidia slaughtered them.
Another downturn for them was more and more games supporting directx. Previously i remember 3DFX Glide use...
There are so many good games on the Pc out in march. Why care about this DRM infested crap.

I dont see why PC gamers should bother with Ubisoft when so many games are out. Also ...
you see that lil hdmi port on the back of the PC. you should see it right close to the cables where your monitor gets plugged in. Looks simular to the hdmi on the consoles.

Its funny that its still consoles developers being the ones going out of business. Also remember asides nintendo the 2 most profitable developers are PC developers aka blizzard and valve.

do you have fps issues with all your games with the 4890?
also what version of windows are u using? is it 32bit or 64bit?
if you are running on a 32bit version if windows, then you might need a windows upgrade. since 32bit only sees 4gb in total. Hence that creates a problem when someone has 4gb system ram and 1gb gpu ram.

you need to see the game running to come to a true conclusion. even a midrange pc from 2 years back will out do the 360. its no contest.

every multiplat out there runs better on pc.. whats your point. and you save money on every game bought, which becomes alot by the end of the year.
i saved about 1200usd alone in the last 2 years buying games on pc vs console. thats a huge saving imo. not to mention the charges to go online which adds up or the super expensive accessories on the 360. giving an initial 300usd price tag is just fooling the console user the real milking starts later on.

4890 is a very good gpu and should run all of todays games maxed out.
what is the rest of your systems spec?
need a dx11gpu which costs 150usd to max it out.
and if you dont have that a 8800gtx from 3yrs will still run it maxed out in dx10.
either way dx 10 or dx11 both version will rape the 360version.
those ppl were misled with PC screen shots.
The PC version indeed is superior to anything consoles can put out. Well too bad for the xbox fans trying to use this title as a graphics show piece on their platform.
Xbox users were shown PC screenshots, which had them hyped about the graphics. The game looks great on the PC. Now that its out on the Xbox sure people are wondering what happened to the graphics.

Its unfair to compare the ps3 @ 299usd with an xbox at 199usd. Since in the long run the Xbox will still be more expensive.
Later on Xbox user will get milked by microsoft, pay to go online, super expensive accessories. Id say we should count the Xbox arcade at 249usd base price since you need to pay for live to go online atleast.
Overall Xbox is the most expensive gaming platform, ps3 being in the middle, PC being the cheapest.

Steam is a great way to save money.
bought over 75games on steam now in last 2years. had i bought those on a console i would have ended up paying 1200+usd. Thats a huge saving.
Its a proven fact consoles are able to handle MODS. Look at UT PS3. However reason why mods are not allowed is so they can be sold stuff as DLC.
I been a PC gamer since 1995, IMO DLC map packs are easily doable as user creations for free (and they are better then what the developer does because users create it for fun, developers are only looking for money so there is no innovation).
IMO console gamers should ask for Dedicated servers along with mod tools for all...
MW2 itself is a DLC for MW1. Making it a different game then charging 59usd lol sad.
I never bought the game. Niether will i supprot a company which is looking for opportunities to milk its fanbase.
Bad Company 2 has been alot of fun.
I do get a feeling Ubisoft announcing they wont be making any more PC games. Oh well whatever Ubisoft has done this gen has been terrible. All of their games have been repeatfests:
Farcry2 : repeat fest, same mission over and over
Prince of persia: same thing, just keep repeating the missions
AC1, AC2: Repeatfests.
we cant even compare it to midrange pcs. Even midrange pcs from 2yrs back play all games in 1080p. PS3 runs most of its games in 720p. less then 10% of its games in 1080p. big difference.
Even the exclusives mentioned here run in 720p.
Its cool to recall the old stories.
voodoo 2 was released in 1998, a single voodoo 2 was limited 800*600, sli went upto 1024*768. I remember i had the sli rig by the end of 1998. Hence i was gaming @ 1024*768 (as a pc gamer i was gaming @ HD in 60fps back in those days). Something console gamers only get to see this gen. Thats almost a decade lead compared to consoles.
