Your rig, if the IP is optimized; say like Hard Reset, for example, should run at 60 FPS. Acting like that's a huge accomplishment on PC is like a parent gloating over a 10 year old child riding a bicycle w/o training wheels.

Who acquired iD in 2009? And that company just so happens to prefer what console manufacturer?

HINT HINT: look at their last TES game, then look at the obvious visual discrepancies in FO3 and NV.

In reality, Carmack is neither a game player nor a game designer; he makes game engines. And in the last 10 years, the truth of the matter is he has built more rocket engines than game engines. The man is a genius no doubt but iD's made 1 game in that aforementio...

Both were featured in Steam sales this past week. What can I say, people love good deals!

What is SHOCKING is seeing PC retail charts reflect their console counterparts by having so many casual games listed. Not 1, not 2, or 3, but 4 Sims games? With Zumba and Just Dance consistently charting on the consoles, has the UK has gone soft on us? :)

I downloaded the Dead Island Helper tool which fixed the keyboard microstutter, added better shading, increased the FOV, allowed me to back-up saves and I played issue-free for 66 hrs. Yes it is a shame the game had so many issues for so many people.

Crysis2 is completely inferior to the original, especially from a technical perspective.

Crysis 1 bends 2 over, treats it like a $2 dollar whore, slaps it on the ass and asks it to make him a sandwich before leaving. Even with the hi-texture and DX11 patches, the game looks downright ugly compared to both of the vanilla versions of its predecessors.

So while it doesn't re-invent the wheel, at least we can now see the knobbies :)

had a Brad Pitt from True Romance feel to it.

"Don't be condescending me muthaf%#$er, I'll kill you" - favorite line from the movie as Pitt laid there on the couch AFTER the hitman left.

the $10 price hike this gen was the result of corporate greed and NOT a rise in the cost of developing software. After speculation that Witcher 2's budget was a mere 8 million, this will reaffirm the notion that downsizing resolutions and spending months optimizing code to run at acceptable framerates on "HD consoles" was the real culprit.

I think it's also significant because it means Nintendo is serious about luring 3rd parties back. They're ensuring ...

Borderlands needed a configuration mod to make it even playable on PC. I can remember the Steam overlay stretching clear across the screen in glorious 600p lol. No HL2, or Witcher2, NO Stalker game? I'm playing it now, and after just 3 hours quickly bought its 2 expansions. Where's Crysis or Metro 2033? I bought Shogun when it was on sale but haven't got the chance to delve into it. But I'm sure I'll love it seeing as how I adore KOEI's Romance of the 3 Kingdoms & ...

1) I watched a video interview w/ Ken Rolston (I believe it was from a X360 UK site) where he candidly stated he did everything he could with the series and he felt like it was time to move on. He wasn't interested in making more video games but along came the BHG and 38 Studios opportunity. He is an amazing person to see interviewed, so bluntly honest it's refreshing.

2) I just personally find Bethesda games to be the buggiest games on the market and they're ALWA...

Much like the Wii's motion controls were designed to garner interest among casual gamers, the tablet-esque controller of the new system is aimed squarely at the fastest growing segment of gaming: females (ages 18-35). But it also features as many buttons as a standard controller for the core gamer; Wii peripherals are backwards compatible too, including the classic pro, thus ensuring a wide variety of customization from the onset.

The next gen may truly be a decade long a...

1) Read my post slower next time. I never said he left Bethesda to make KoA. I said he chose retirement rather than make another redundant Elder Scrolls game. It's called burn-out. He was coaxed out of that short-lived retirement after Curt Schilling approached him to develop KoA and start his own studio.

2) Bethesda is now the publisher of iD. If you think they DIDN'T pressure the studio to release an unfinished product that doesn't really even feature a MP compo...

That Ken Rolston chose a brief retirement OVER making Skyrim but came out of said retirement to develop Kingdoms of Amalur instead.

That greedy Bethesda wants to charge me $60 for a PC port that will be a technical mess, a la Rage. And most likely I'll have to wait several months for the MODDING community to address them because Todd Howard is more concerned with cashing Microsoft checks than creating a stable game for all platforms.

That like Lewis Denby...

but N4G is nothing more than a speck on the video game landscape, not a microcosm of the industry itself.

Heavenly Sword as an exclusive sold over 1.5 million copies yet Enslaved, despite being multiplatform, has barely eclipsed 500k. Using your point B as logic then I should assume MW3 will only sell 1-2 million because of the pandemic hate it garners HERE on N4G?

Hate to echo Jose's comments above but I found it the most boring Rockstar game I've ever played. I love gumshoe detective stuff and L.A. Confidential is one of my favorite movies so I naturally thought I'd love it, but it's so repetitive. Discretion is advised.

EDIT: there ya go

and it looked like someone smeared vaseline all over my display. Don't fret though, MS fanboy, I'd say the same thing about R3 as well. But then again I play console exclusives for the gameplay & fun, not for e-peen factor

Oblivion came out a year later on the PS3 and still managed to sell 2 million plus. So, by your logic Mika, Bethesda shouldn't have bothered right?

@ common sense - I used quotation marks around the phrase because that was the exact quote used by the Eurogamer reviewer, not what I think.

@jetlian - You realize I provided a synopsis, not an editorial? I'm trolling because I gave a summary to droid of both reviews that mentioned the short length? Again, their words, not mine.

nothing of the sort. Both Eurogamer and Destructoid gave it an 8.

Basically, the SP is shorter than previous Gears installments. They disliked the bevy of "cheesy one-liners" that permeated the story although both acknowledged the conclusion was satisfying. Jim Sterling clearly notes he's one of the few who enjoy the SP more than the MP.

Set pieces were wonderfully done but not memorable. There's a criticism of the enemies as well but I wil...

hold off on buying a PS4/nXbox 1080 for a couple years and buy all those games you can't afford now. I hear this all the time and it makes no sense to me. Honestly, do you feel "left behind" if you don't own the newest thing so you'd rather everyone be stuck with the current consoles and stagnate the industry?

I've been on N4G for approaching 5 years now and all I ever read from console-only gamers is the "gameplay over graphics" mantra wh...
