& N4G needs a sarcasm color font sometimes. Gamestop owns Impulse but sells Steam cards. I see what ya did thar....didn't I?
They need not appease anyone but themselves. In 2005, Forbes reported gross revenues of 70 million. Last year, over 1 billion. They make more profit on average than Google, Apple, and MS. Valve is estimated to be worth somewhere between 3-4 billion now so all these rumors of "a billion dollar acquisition from (insert company here)" are laughable.
EDIT: Cold beat me to it so I elaborated a little
Remember this is EA, they love your money more than you do.
But Nintendo themselves have some culpability in this alleged "controversy". As a PC gamer and someone whose livelihood who dependent on TVs, FullHD doesn't mean NATIVE resolution but rather simply filling pixels on 1920x1080 display.
HD is 720p, FullHD is 1080p, and UltraHD is anything over 1080p. They're marketing buzzwords conjured by TV companies to sell TVs to the masses. That's it. It CAN be upscaled.
The big N could've easily ...
we could still see Valve push for an official expansion, or maybe it will inspire the modding community. I'd love to see the chaps responsible for the "I Hate Mountains" campaign make this.
First game in the series was a beast!!
Please, I also own a PC that is my primary gaming platform so save the elitist rhetoric.
I'll give you emulation if you bought the original hardware and software. Otherwise you're nothing more than a scummy pirate illegally downloading ISOs. We're not talking about abandoned IPs either. I have to believe you implied Dolphin since many other devices can run EMUs for older software. Not just PC.
PC sport IPs pale in comparison to the breadth and va...
"If you don't like Japanese games, there is no reason to own a console."
Sports IPs,Uncharted, LBP, Halo, Gears, Red Dead, Crackdown, GT, Forza, GOW, Resistance, Killzone, R&C, Sly Cooper, Metroid, Metal Gear, Zelda, Castlevania, and Mario.
I included the last four franchises to punctuate the point that while they may be Eastern developed (exception being LoS was Mercury Steam), they are very much influenced by Western mechanics.
I think it's a fabulous strategy for enticing newbies to try other genres in a fun but non-competitive environment while providing entertainment for those who plunked down $350 and may have to wait on purchasing software.
PC>PS3>Wii>Vita>3D S>smartphone>360. I've turned on my 360 precisely twice in the last 3 years (for Gears3 and Halo remake). I only buy devices for their exclusives. And if you primarily game on PC, then it completely negates every advantage enjoyed by MS over the other 2.
Sony will follow what MS has done the past two years. At Xmas, they'll put it on sale for $50 less. It's a strategy that's worked wonders for MS the past 2 Xmas, keep the price the same, but do a temporary price drop at the holidays. Remember last year's $99 Kinect? Sony did it on a smaller scale last year; 250gb PS3 with 2 games for $249 and we sold all 25 units in 2hrs.
The 360 and its library become redundant if you game on PC with any regularity. Multi-plats are vastly superior, online is free, better community features within Steam, more interface options, better implementation of cloud storage...It just seems 360's advantages over the Wii & PS3 are negated by PC gaming far more than the other two are impacted.
I still game on consoles as I value their exclusives very much. Which makes Sony and Nintendo's consoles far more int...

Sure Nintendo fans and core gamers are looking into buying one, but it wasn't just the "Nintendo" logo that sold 50 million Wiis to soccer moms and grandmas.
It was the price and its family friendliness.
This Xmas it by far won't be the cheapest console on the market. I see MS offering the Arcade model for $149 and the PS3 slim to hit the $199 pricepoint. That's a tough sell to the casuals. No way are they going to shell out $350-400 f...
They are incredibly cheap consumers at retail. We sat around with 6-7 Arcade 360s w/o Kinect for ages. Put'em this week on sale for $179 and I sold them all in 2 days. I could've sold another 20 this week if we had them in stock. Nintendo will be combating a $149 Arcade and a $199 slim this Xmas. Parents will go for the cheap and wait till next year(s) when WiiU is cheaper.
I do agree, though, Nintendo will do just fine this holiday season and sell every system they a...
here's my guess; a $249 WiiU only SKU, $299 WiiU + Nintendo Land SKU, and a $349 WiiU + Nintendo Land & Mario bundle. I'd like to see a pro controller included the last SKU.
PC gamers despise MS. Go check ANY PC forum.
As for your assertion us PC gamers will tire of the wait, it holds no merit. Valve isn't 3D Realms, living out their Nolan Bushnell fantasies while the public waits a decade for Duke. No my friend, in that timespan, Valve released Portal 1&2, TF2 went f2p while adding a horde mode, L4D became an official retail product with a subsequent sequel, got another update to Counterstrike, and soon will be enjoying a f2p DOTA2. Wai...
the Star Wars mod from COD4 was the best SW themed gameplay in the last ten years lol.
Borderlands was a mess on PC @ launch. Then came the advanced configurations mod which added numerous options to tweak it. Runs and looks gorgeous now.
People are overreacting. The port team already said the game will have resolution & AA options. They are paultry in comparison to other PC games, but did any of you really expect FOV options from a console maker?
that was a breath of fresh air. I never knew EA was informally "threatened" by the Russian mob lol (listen to the Q&A at the end).
