You can only milk this cow so hard and long before the teats run dry.

This article is bad and she should feel bad.

But yeah Sony already sold me for day 1. I get them all eventually but the WiiU is a joke and I'm waiting for Microsoft to show their hand.... and it better not be full of more Kinect trash.

Apparently not because people still buy the damned game annually. It will get a facelift next-gen but I hope the teats on this cow go dry soon

Sounds like they're going to integrate Origin style bullcrap into everything. I can't wait until these bastards collapse and all the good IPs they gobbled up (and do nothing with) can be auctioned off.

Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot with all this Kinect garbage. That gimmick already played itself out.

With Halo/Gears both having new games out within a year before the Nextbox launch, Microsoft had better have something more than Kinect and multiplats to keep people on board.

If the content is locked on the disc, that microtransaction amounts to theft in my eyes. Most people will be entirely unaware. Even holding anything back for later DLC that was already complete is at the very least extremely immoral.

Bethesda went from the original example of bad DLC with the infamous Oblivion horse armor, to releasing the best and most complete expansion pack DLCs. This is what DLC should be. Not 200 damned skins and avatars and wallpapers cluttering up eve...

Sony Online Entertainment had better be working on a Planetside 2 port. Nothing else would showcase next-gen online gaming better and steal the XBL base. Unknown in the console world and probably would not take much to get it running on PS4. No brainer PSN launch title imo.

I agree, but it sadly makes no business sense.

If they know they have Xbox beat in specs, then it was huge. Try hyping inferior hardware after your competition unveiled theirs. Also makes anyone considering getting a Wii U think twice (myself included). Really puts into perspective what a piece of garbage Nintendo has put out.

And they showed about the perfect amount for right now. No point in wasting hype this early on. Plenty more to show during E3 and closer to launch I bet.

Personally I'd pay $1000 for a Mega Playstation with every chip if it upscaled and smoothed out older games. But that's obviously not feasible for market and based on what happened with PS3, neither is any hardware level B/C at all. They tried to do exactly what you people want and it was a big factor in driving the cost up. It would add at least an extra $100 right on top of the PS4 cost just to allow it to play PS3 games. Doesn't even make sense to have a premium version because...

Sony should throw everything behind PS4 at this point. Every new game and every coming game that can be ported. Even older PS3 or multiplatform games ported and sold as enhanced collection versions would be good fillers at first. Consoles were holding back PC games so much at this point that if they port back PC versions of Skyrim, Borderlands2, Witcher2, Farcry3, Crysis3, ect. (closer to PS3 architecture anyways), players who missed those games and developers would have a good stop gap to g...

Nintendo certainly redefined winning a console war. Most units sold and yet fizzled out in 4 years. Cash grab from casuals based on a gimmick and cheap last-gen hardware. They're quickly seeing the longevity of that strategy with the Wii U. And Microsoft is doing nothing but following Nintendo over the cliff by throwing everything behind Kinect. Unless Microsoft has got something big up their sleeve, Sony has the edge this time around.

I think they were pretty forthcoming about the tech because they know they've got Microsoft beat. Get that out there asap because MS will have a hard time hyping hardware that's slightly worse in most categories.

As for games, we just got a taste. Probably hear a lot more at E3 and hopefully see the final box in action. I'm really hoping they port Planetside 2 (SOE game) as a launch title. That would do more to steal the XBL FPS fanbase than anything Sony could r...

This is probably the single most important thing they could do for PS4's launch. If it was available day 1 and promoted well, Sony could steal a huge portion of Microsoft's core XBL fanbase. We haven't seen that MS has to offer yet, but with all the Kinect garbage they're shoving down everyone's throat I doubt they have any major exclusive shooter for launch. Planetside2 + Killzone at launch; it's the perfect time to try and steal the FPS playing fanbase of XBL. Then y...

Nintendo is already floundering and will likely return to N64/Gamecube era sales levels and just chug along in the background. The Wii was really and anomaly and a vastly underpowered console with a gimmick wasn't going to cut it again. Their only fall back is potential for quick price cuts by having overpriced garbage hardware to begin with.

Microsoft seems intent on abandoning the fan base that built Xbox and forcing all this Kinect and Avatar garbage onto everyone. I t...

Bandwidths will have to get a lot better for anyone to be streaming 4k. Generally even supposed 1080p streaming is highly compressed and awful compared to Blu-ray quality. It's more about kb/s than the resolution for stream quality.

But yeah I hope they future proof PS4 to play 100GB+ Blu-rays and output 4k. It would be nice to not have to buy a player when those TVs are available for a reasonable price.

The Wii U news section is a very sad place.

They do because it impacts where development dollars go. IMO desktop PC hardware has been comparatively stagnant in the last 4 years as mobile processors have been exploding. Don't know any statistics but I can't imagine desktop PC sales are going anywhere but down.

Sadly the master race just can't thrive without the peasants supporting the industry's bottom line.

As a fan of all consoles (except Nintendo's latest abomination) and an avid PC gamer, I'm extremely excited about the PS4. I think people are really underestimating the implications of APU architecture in a dedicated console. The raw specs may not appear much more than an upper mid-range PC, but the unified design and high bandwidth may be allow developers to get far more out of it that you would expect. With the 8GB GDDR5 I think about the only thing holding developers back will be m...

Backwards compatibility just isn't feasible with the hardware architecture being so different for each generation. Personally I'd love to buy a $700 mega Playstation that has every chip inside of it but that's just not marketable.

Emulation for disc games as a fan service would certainly be nice but I don't really expect it considering it makes them no profit and has to be harder to do than a reworked download. Honestly now days I'd rather own old games i...
